Fighting Games Weekly | Sept 16-22 | EVO does a 360 and walks away

The dream is dead.

The poor balance in the vanilla release and on disc DLC fiasco for SFxT really was a shame.
Because the game is honestly pretty fun after the 2013 patch. I think it would have been a lot more popular if those two issues hadn't killed most people's interest in the game right from the start.

I have the pc version, but I hear the online is ass, otherwise I would actually play that.

Exhibitions looked stacked today according to Justin.

Bonchan/Xian
mago/infiltration
Ryan/Haitini
tokido/Momochi
jwong/Daigo
and more!!

fuck Marvel I hope Avengers 2 tanks and they go under and SNK buys them out and we get SNK vs Capcom
I mean, I understand if someone out there didn't like Avengers, but wanting SNK to handle handle big properties? May as well put NRS in charge of animation and Dennis Dyack in charge of marketing.

really interesting how Daigo utlitzed the throw, 2x dash setup. He didn't get every read right through those, but once he established the crossup tatsu (or jump back) mixup that seemed to get into Infil's head a bit.

Yep, he went for it sometimes but most of the time he baited. The thing is Infiltration almost never teleported after being thrown midscreen, but after seeing what Daigo was constantly going for, that scared him enough to not even attempt to teleport. I'd love to hear exactly what it was that Daigo was talking about earlier on the Topanga stream when he said he found some good stuff against Akuma. But regardless, his superb adjustments from the previous matches was amazing to see.

But I gotta give a shout out to Bonchan and Ryan, that was the match of the show. Ryan's reactions are unbelievable. He kind of threw it away at the end. Bonchan won despite only landing 1 anti-fireball Ultra the entire set. Another thing I notice about this mirror when U2 is being used by both players. It seems like if you land Ultra first and don't kill your opponent, all of a sudden you're at a huge disadvantage unless you have a huge life lead. The role that ultra plays in this mirror makes the match really fun to watch IMO.

Daigo was talking about it afterward but Zhi couldn't hear all of it and then Spooky shut the stream down before Zhi could come back and translate it. We probably get a translation from Daigo's blog later.

Holy shit Deep Down announced to be Free to Play.

Capcom going in BALLS DEEP with this.

This is most likely Ono's experimentation with F2P and he will be using this as testing grounds for SFV. Bet some money on that shit.

Specifically for SFV? Probably for most of their games. If this works, get ready for some f2p dmc, resident evil and others. They'll probably also see how the new soul calibure does as well

F2P is just a fancy term for a demo really. Except now instead of 'unlocking' the whole game at once, you gotta do it bit by bit.

Free to Play (Pay to Win style), online only, Ninja Theory directed DmC2, sub 30FPS, no hard lock on, pay to unlock weapons/moves, pay to unlock style tiers, 4 dodge buttons, pay to unlock higher difficulties, pay to unlock Bloody Palace, pay to unlock Vergil, pay to unlock training mode.

It's like a game from my nightmare.

Also, exclusive to XBone and lots of puzzles/platforming that requires smartglass

itsuno is already getting his fingers wet with that f2p ios game. Who knows what kind of peer pressure is going on at capcom.

Better brace yourself dahbomb.................winter is coming
Jesus christ I forgot all about this...

Pretty much the only big game coming out of Capcom that isn't F2P/IOS/online only type game is Dead Rising 3 and that's not even being made inside Capcom. Really makes you wonder what the fuck is going on at Capcom Japan when they are using talents like Ono and Itsuno on F2P stuff. These guys should be busy making the new SFV/DMC5... and where the hell is Nitsuma? Please do not tell me he's making a F2P MVC4...

well I guess in the blade fantasia thread, they were mentioning that he really isn't involved. Just showed up at the presentation, so dmc could be safe for now

I say Killer Instinct's model might become something Capcom looks at.

I'd prefer if they looked at Xuan Dou Zhi Wang, considering that will launch with over 20 characters instead of 6, has a regular free rotation of more than one character, and lets you buy characters and costumes with in game money.

This is the best model.

Which means that Capcom will make something that is the complete opposite of that.

Because Capcom has now perfected the art of disappointing fans.

My hope is that Capcom get greedy and design a terrible f2p business model for fighting games.

If they do that It'll probably turn out quite well.
