Because it doesn't affect anyone. Cheating in online multiplayer should be a banneable offense (not a complete ban though, just a game ban), offline doesn't matter shit and this includes trophies. Who cares if my trophy level is 100 or something cause of cheating? Does it affect your enjoyment of the games? Resetting is a better solution but still, why gives a fuck?
Some people find cheating fun, if it doesn't affect anyone else why not just let them.
So I take it as none of you ever got 8,500 trophies in a single day you guys must not be real trophy hunters.
Im legit bro, I dont see how getting 8,500 trophies in a day isnt legit.
Time to join #teamsony op.
Also, that he has no point of contact for discussing this further is pure lunacy. OP, get a lawyer if you can afford one. Even if you did something that broke the TOS in some fashion they should not be allowed to ban you from accessing content you purchased legally.
Most times its something else. I find it hard to believe that they saw the oman thing and all his legal purchases and decided his business wasn't worth it. Its something he didn't think he would get caught doing.I think the OP got caught for something else. Hopefully he'll come clean.
Wrong, if you are banned on steam, you are still allowed access to your games.
I'm so out of the loop since I haven't played a single video game since Skyward Sword.
Does this mean the PHYSICAL games OP bought i.e. in store purchases cannot be played at all? Like his Xbox is permanently disabled? Or can he just not play the games he bought digitally and online? So if he were to pop in a physical copy of NBA 2k, it won't work?
*confused*

We may disable access to Microsoft and third-party content associated with your account for any reason.
break the rules and you accept all consequences
Yeah, this is the kind of shit that happens in third world countries. He should be made perfectly aware of what he did wrong if he is to be banned. Have a generated message with relevant codes to what he specifically did wrong, and have a phone number, website or e-mail address that he can go to for further communication. You can't tell me 100% of these bans are legit, that mistakes have never been made. What rules did he break though, from the looks of it MS gave him a list of possible rules he may have broke, but didn't actually tell him.

Seriously, MS needs to go to court over their conduct, even if the OP broke the TOS.
MS doesn't ban accounts+systems that haven't been involved in against policy activities.
buy a new one!
Pro tip if you have to do a workaround to get something you're not supposed to have then be prepared to lose all your shit.Yeah, shit like this is why I am never getting a Gold account. Hope PSN+ on the PS4 is more lenient and I hope their costumer service is helpful.

Fair enough. Should MS try to take the OP to court for exploiting a service they operate as well?

Well there was that Halo 4 incident...
Not to mention whether sony looks the other way or not doesnt change the tos. Signing in to accounts pretending to be from another country sure sounds like fraud to me.

The one where he "bought" a game early and was told he couldn't have a receipt because the cashier would get in trouble for selling it to him?
They kind of already did, but the problem is they are acting above the law here. If they are to carry out such actions against violators/potential violators they themselves need a "Code of Conduct" in giving EXACT notice as to what they did wrong. This is like the digital equivalent of Gitmo. You barely have any idea what you did wrong and/or what you are being accused of.Fair enough. Should MS try to take the OP to court for exploiting a service they operate as well?

It's fucking amazing to me that people are okay with this. The ToS gets put on us, we can't contest any of it, and in situations like this there is no recourse. All of your content is tied to your account and by breaking ToS you lose your account.
They kinda already did. They are their own judge and jury in their land.... but we accepted the terms. What terms of ours did Microsoft accept?
It was still a legit retail game. The fact that MS can't tell if you are a playing a legit copy of a game or a pirated one means that MS shouldn't ban anyone for playing a game early. Their system does not work.
That you would abide by their rules to use a service they operate. You don't need to use their stuff, but if you do you abide by their rules. Don't like it, don't use it.
Actually their system worked as intended. They put out a notice the month before that they would be banning anyone for pre-release play.
You're correct, absolutely correct. But my point is that the idea of a consumer Digital Bill of Rights should become something real. Something that all content providers should abide by. Right now it's 'lol too bad bye.'
It's the messed up idea that you don't possess anything but a license with content and it's creeping into other real-world items. We're going backwards.

Yet, there are many people who still have their account intact. The Oman thing wasn't that much of an exploitation, if anything it seemed that Msoft was doing a deliberate '' promotion'' in order to ban people.
Why? What purpose does that serve? Furthermore why is it necessary? Sounds like you proved his point - they can't tell the difference between legit and pirated.
Small update.
Beside that enforcement team ignored me whole morning and half of the day, no one from my friends list got banned, nor people who used this Oman exploit. All of them alive and good playing xbox atm connected to live.
I'm trying with support over the phone now. Hopefully they will help me.
Why wouldn't they just ban your Oman account?
O man, what a bad joke!Everyone should take this as an oman.
But banning the Omani account would revoke those games I think and end your access no matter what account you used.Probably because I was playing Oman games on my Primary account.
And you got caught. Interested to hear what they decide.
