Ugh, this is such a clusterfuck. After wasting my time going back and forth with Square Enix support, I just found out why my account was suspended these past few days.

So initially at launch when I first bought the game, GMG sent me out the wrong code: they erroneously sent me an EU code when I actually wanted a US code because the account that I had used during the open beta (and had a lvl 20 conjurer/lvl 20 gladiator on it) was a US account. I contacted GMG asking for a US code instead, but they didnt bother to get back to me for a few days. I couldnt be fucked waiting so I was like, fuck it, I'll just create an EU account and use the EU code they gave me. About two weeks pass, in that time I've levelled up both Warrior AND Paladin to lvl 50. By that time, GMG had sent me out the replacement US code, but by then I'd already been so far into the game with two level 50 classes on my one character that I couldn't be bothered using the new code.

Then only a few days earlier, my account was suspended and no email was sent explaining why. Contacted Square Enix and they told me to contact GMG. Contacted GMG and they told me that they suspended it because of their policy of disabling old codes when they send out replacement codes. So I'm like, fuck me. Couldn't they have disabled it BEFORE I had gone to all that effort to level up TWO level 50 characters?

So now I have two options. I can either contact SQEX again, and ask them to reactivate my suspended account while disabling the replacement key, but this means I have less remaining free days on my account because of all the days that were used up during my suspension. OR, I can use the new replacement key, but this means I lose access to both my lvl 50 characters and have to go back to levelling my shitty lvl 20 open beta characters.

FML.

Congrats!

Thanks. We did it on our second party. Well, the first one the tank d/c and never came back and he was doing a horrible job anyway. He died twice in a row falling off near the beginning.

This run we had a good tank, the other DPS (Dragoon) ended up dying mid way again, and near the end there was a chance we could have lost, but I ended up using Limit Break which took a huge chunk out of his health and won the match. Felt so awesome.

Not quite sure what you mean :)

Cross Class Skills work like this:

At lvl 50 you get 5 slots for cross class skills (but you start with one slot available early on, getting to two and so on as you level your main class or job).

Here is the full list of skills available from each class for other classes (or jobs).
http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/08/23/the-mog-log-extra-cross-class-skills-in-final-fantasy-xiv/

So if you stay arcanist you can pick from all the skills above and slot them in available slots in your skill section. The level on your main class does not influence which skills you can equip from another class but it will influence how many slots you have available for cross class skills. IE. You can be a lvl 35 Arcanist but unlock a higher level skilll from another class.

The restrictions come when you chose a job. The things above still apply but you are limited to picking cross class skills from only specific classes.

You are either a WHM OR an Arcanist as your main job/class (even though both level simultaniously). The difference is that with WHM you gain 5 specific skills that are unique to WHM and can't be used by any other classes. As Conjurere you won't get any of the job skills but you can choose from all the classes available cross-class skills.

Again, the level of your main class does not influence which cross-class skills you can choose. It only depends on how high you have the class you want the cross-class skill from and if you have it unlocked on that specific class.

Does that make sense to you?

Never, EVER have that issue. The only time I pull aggro is if I cast Regen too late into a trash pull and the tank runs off for the next pull with it still active.
Unless a boss mob aggro wipes, or I HAVE to use an aoe heal while adds are incoming because the dpsers run into red stuff, I hardly ever get aggro.

Yea I think as I am experimenting and seeing what works and what doesnt is making things clear. The confusion comes from me playing FF11 and getting confused with the system FF14 has

Thanks again!

Tinfoil hat theory:
lvl 50 dungeons can't handle all the requests as is, even with a full group ready you'll wait an insane amount of time until you might be able to enter..
So maybe it's their way of trying to stop more pressure on that until an update hits :p
Heh, as much as I would like to scream "outrage!"...it honestly wouldn't surprise me. They have been keeping pretty quiet about it. ~_~

I've played many MMO's before, and encountered more than a few bugged quests. However, they were fixed relatively fast [a day or two] and had communication that it was being looked into. 4-5 days with this one and not one mention about it? It wouldn't be so bad if it were just a side-quest but this is a story-related one that is required to continue.

I sincerely hope it's fixed soon. As much as I love the game, I'm growing tired of seeing my character having his progress stalled. I'm not particularly interested in leveling other classes, and as I said the crafting/gathering ones are best done in moderation [I'm already tiring of them].

Maybe this is fate's way of telling me to stop playing and go back to Tales of Xillia...

Pretty much done with WHM until I get some drops in Bahamut's Coil (we keep getting DRG gear...), so I finished leveling my PLD to 50.

But I get annoyed at some of the fights in this game from a tanking perspective. At least Chimera and Ifrit HM. I didn't level a tanking job to be a stun/silence bot. D:

I guess this is how BLMs (and RDMs) felt in FFXI. :P

I dunno man, I just got 250k (about halfway) in 30 mins doing Northern Thanalan Fates in a party.

Yea, I don't see it as bad. Hell I got to 50 before finishing the story quests and probably left a TON of exp on the table for doing so :lol

Any results with this?

It would be an epic megaton to suddenly discover a way to re-size the NPC dialogue text... Playing at 1080p on PC while sitting from my Sofa is eye straining.

Resizing boxes in general was new to me, I didn't find anything on the NPC dialogue, sorry :(

Decided to give the

fight one last go before heading to bed last night just for the hell of it. It was really bothering me not being able to get pass it. Got one more group and after two failures we took it down, barely. Our on other DPS has been knock off at the end when it was clear she was now in the cone of damage but got sent off anyway. Square Enix needs to seriously address that crap. I got locked in stone. Thankfully the tank and healer were okay and were able to stay alive long enough to knock the last bit of health off the damn thing. I hate that fight.

To top that off I was greeted by what happen next story wise.

Duty Finder, right? Yeah, I use that. Kind of sucks since the person that taught us how to do it in the previous run was on a different server and I told them lets meet up to restart. My friend then told me Duty Finder is multi server.

Didn't know that at all. If it is why is it taking so long to match people. It should have a huge pool of people to pull from at any given moment.

Is there a fast way of leveling up other classes quickly? Leves? Fates? Monster grinding?

Hey 50BRDs, I just hit 50 yesterday and was wondering if there's any classes I should look into leveling for certain cross skills. I know lancer has one really good buff, blood for blood iirc.

Holy crap. What's the secret to levelling two characters to 50 in two weeks? I've had the game for two weeks but have barely gotten to level 16.

Easy easy route: play a class that has AOE (Bard or BLM). Do story quests (and quests at hubs) and dungeons to get you to 25ish. Fate party to 50 (Bard and BLM do very well in big group FATEs b/c they can just AOE everything non stop pretty much getting gold 100%). It's much harder compared for a class like healers to do this. But you shouldn't have any problem w/ DD or Tanks. Make sure you're always logging off to get your rested exp bonus. Always take some type of food to give that extra 3% exp.

Keep in mind you still have to play a decent amount.

How much is a "decent amount"? I have work on weekdays, so I can only play for like a couple hours a day during the week.

did something happene yesterday with the servers? i'm getting weird lags, and i know i'm not the only one. can't play a combo and positioning heavy class like this.

The character for players that want a challenge.

sounds good. now we just need to find those incentives so people seek that challenge.

but i'd still like to see a proper response.

The character for players that want a challenge.

Challenge should not just be in finding a group willing to take a character in a certain job. Personally, I've started leveling to get Paladin even though I have a 35WAR. I'm not hardcore enough to put up with people being crappy because of wanting specific jobs so I'll take the path of least resistance (at least if I'm doing a PUG mind you, hopefully the FC is a bit more lenient).

Lancer/Dragoon to 34 for Blood for Blood, as you said. :)

+20% extra damage but 25% extra damage taken. When used carefully, ultra helpful.

Invigorate at Lancer level 22 is also really really useful. Instant 300 TP refill with a cooldown of 180 seconds.

Same shit I posted above

Ahh sorry didn't see. For me the most interesting aspect was definitely the talk about enmity near the bottom though. If it does turn out it's based on race (or possibly even deity) that would be ridiculous, and needs to be patched.

That story mode fight is the only time I've felt like a shitty player. I lost track of how many times I couldn't get out of the way of his attacks and got knocked off and killed. And being a WHM, once I died, the group was pretty much fucked after that.

So I've hit 50 and started getting into I guess end game content and there is a few things I notice about the game at this point.

The combat lag severely impacts the game. I don't know if anyone else notices it, if it's input lag or what but the combat lag makes it too easy to place the blame on the game instead of being able to activate a skill ''on time''

I off tanked... If you can even call it off tanking Ifrit HM last night and holy hell if that's not the most shameful use of mechanics ever I don't know what is. I literally did nothing except auto attack with my finger hovering over the shield bash button waiting for eruption to pop up. Not that it's hard to stun him, but with shield bash being on GCD and there not being any Telegraph of the boss before eruption is cast combined with the fact that the cast time is faster than GCD and the combat lag, it was pointless to put in any rotation of abilities for fear of missing that stun.
This isn't just a problem for Ifrit HM I've had this problem throughout the whole game, if they are going to make bashes a mechanic for boss fights it needs it's own GC.

Buffs that will not persist through death are another issue. I'm sorry but I am not willing to purchase food that increases my stats and then have it wear off after a death, if you want your player base to be throwing themselves at walls in dungeons you can't expect them to sink money into stat buffs that expire after every death.

The other major gripe I have is what has already been mentioned is the reliability and effectiveness of threat generating abilities. First off provoke is a joke, it should apply a focus debuff that lasts for at least a couple of seconds forcing you to the top of the threat list and giving you a chance to regain control as the tank, it wears off too fast and allows dps to steal threat, I have to provoke and shield lob and usually run over to the target and start my combo on it before I can regain control.

AOE tanking is god awful. I cannot comment on warrior AOE tanking but as a paladin forcing me to tab target and spam flash is not an effective way of doing this. One simple solution for paladin at least it's to add emity upon a block, there you have multiple targets attacking you, your generating threat on every block to all targets, still forcing tab targeting if dps is AOE but not locking you to it every engagement.

There are other issues I have that I'm sure will be addressed over time but I must admit I'm not familiar with SE and their understanding of mmo mechanics, I know this isn't their first one but I would argue that since ff11 the mmo landscape has changed drastically and I don't know if I have faith in SE to grasp this long term.

Tldr fix combat lag.

Finally started to level one of the few classes I have that isn't maxed.
Man it really slows down around the late 30's/early 40's...

Well... better than Raptor Burn/ Wolf Burn parties all over again.
At least those got me materials I could use though...

Got the helm too ^^
