Okay hyperbole aside, I don't see what a remake could possibly add to the game. It's beautiful as it is.

A FF7 Remake with FF7AC-quality CG running in high resolution with potentially updated-to-high-res-ps2-quality visuals would probably sell great to many people.

...I'd prefer FFVI, personally.

It's possible to appreciate what Shahid does and find his tweets entertaining without hyping the shit out of the smallest thing. Like the tweet in the OP for instance, how do we even know his proposal was even successful? He certainly didn't say that (as I'm guessing he doesn't know, they'll probably get back to him) but suddenly that means there's a big AAA game coming or something. It's ridiculous.

Then again there's a separate tweet for #JRPGVita (which Type-0 also definitely belongs to) to say that they're making some progress which makes it sound like it's a separate thing moving at a slower pace.

Bro, fuck that. FFVII characters in cg looked terrible and ruined the cut scenes for me. The game works amazingly well in the chibi style and adds a whimsical endearing quality to it that realistically proportioned characters wouldn't be able to bring to the game.

Fair enough. I also just thought about the possibility that he made this tweet as a negotiating tactic. If the title is in fact Type 0, he'd be able to point to the twitter/forum hype when convincing the other party (SquareEnix?) that the deal would be beneficial to them.

The reason I doubt it's an FF game is because, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Shahid manages Sony's relationship with their Japanese devs. I imagine they have a special Japanese procurement team for that purpose.

In this case, he's tweeting that he proposed a deal, not even that a deal has been confirmed. Did he ever actually follow-up and confirm the result of his last big hype up or are we simply assuming that it was Football Manager?

Yeah, I definitely agree with this. It's timeless; all they could really improve on is the visuals, and anything they changed would be liable to screw ups. FFVII has actually aged a lot better than many of its peers of the same age, due to most of the visuals being in lovely 2D.
