Wii U Games 2013

Well if it was delayed and that delay meant we got a proper version I wouldn't complain. Watch_dogs might be a good fit for Wii U but not if it's a half-assed port.

Would be great for my financials but absolutely terrible for Wii U perception, sales and the lineup overall. Ugh. But if the game needs more time on Wii U I'd rather have them do it properly rather than give us an unfinished version.

Let's see how it develops or if it's even true.

Nah, unless it would be totally broken, it would be better for Wii U sales and perception for them to launch it on time, and then patch it.

Having the game launch in February $60 when the hype/buzz is gone and the other versions are $35-40? DISASTER.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt for now since Ubi hasn't delayed any other Wii U games (barring Rayman) yet.

Hate to be a pooper, but "Country" has a T in it.
Wanted to bring that up again

of course grain of salt. I'd like to be wrong on this.
Not planning it at day one, but being out in November would probably mean to find it out cheaper in early '14 (that was my plan)

yea that's what's making this hard to believe for me too. hopefully it's nothing.

and you are right, me too I'd prefer to

1) be wrong
2) be sure about it

I don't even want to "stress" this too much, caus I cannot share any actual "linkable" source.
Btw, eventually, to me seemed strange to see development reasons behind this move.

maybe the wii u version is too good, sony and ms don't want it showing up their flashy new systems

Wii Party U is not $50 if you look around. $39.99 pre-order on Newegg, which looks to include the Wii Remote + and the stand.
Preordered mine yesterday.
Also their description says this:
"- Online multiplayer support was hinted at by Nintendo, a feature which would involve a new set of mini games specifically tailored for online multiplayer."

Thanks so much for the update, I preordered immediately. This xmas is going to be oh so good for Wii U gaming.

Once again thanks. There are so many games out before xmas.

not entirely believing the watchdogs rumour, especially as we know its been in development far longer than the ps360 versions

The think with Ubi is they're a very modular company. They have a ton of teams around the world that they shuffle from project to project - sometimes it seems like the whole company works on everything. It's not at all impossible that they shifted resources away from it towards other versions to get them together in time.

Really hope not though. Otherwise that version will tank. I've cooled a bit on the game in the last few showings (it turned out to be more of Assassin's Creed: The Cover-Based Shooter than maybe it should be). But if it lives up to the hype then I may end up getting the PS4 version instead, unless the U version extras turn out to be worth it.

Just bought myself a Wii U, and have alot of those games on my radar. Thanks for the list, so far bought Zombie U and Super Mario U, that should keep me busy till Black Friday :p

I envy you that will start Zombi U.
one of my favourite games of all time.

zombi u is very good, with glimpses of true greatness, and is one of the better examples of wii u controller use. what a shame ubisoft won't be returning to this to take it to the next level.

Great if AC3's multiplayer matching is working. That was the main reason I got rid of it after I finished the single player. I enjoyed the little of the multiplayer I could play but could never find a game with the match maker outside of Christmas day and a month or two later no matter how long I sat in the queue. People were complaining about it right away to Ubisoft (via tech support, twitter, miiverse, official forums, etc) but it was never addressed. Suddenly now though it's fixed? It sorta makes me afraid to even bother with the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed 4.

I've been worried about the Wii U version for a few weeks now and wouldn't be surprised to see it delayed. We've yet to see any Wii U footage of the game. They won't answer any questions regarding the Wii U version, if and when one gets a chance to ask a question. It's similar to what happen with Injustice where WB/NR wouldn't even acknowledged questions about the Wii U version. Same thing is happening now. The Wii U version is suppose to be done by a separate team. There should be no issues pushing out a few screen shots or a video.

Does Sony have some agreement where only the Sony versions can be shown, talked about or even acknowledged?

not showing or talking about version of a game is these days not reason enough to suggest its not coming, we all remember the annual palaver of not seeing any shots or footage of the wii call of duties until someone actually bought the game

has the x bone version even been shown? or the ps360 versions for that matter?

I agree...I simply felt in love with it, the best survival since a decade at least (eternal darkness was 2002)

Btw, Ubisoft Bucharest is doing Watch Dogs U. The studio that developed the multiplayer mode for ZombiU. That is what made me hopeful it'd be a good version since they already had experience with the hardware.

How are the graphics while playing games using Off-TV play? Is there more aliasing, does the image quality takes a hit because of artifacting? Or is it game specific?

Also, can I setup a Wii U with no TV at all, just using the gamepad?

You need a TV at the very beginning to synchronize the Gamepad.

There is obviously a downgrade compared to the TV, there are sometimes artifacts because of the compression, but it is quite game specific. Some games (like Sonic All Stars Racing look really bad on the gamepad while others (like W101 or Trine 2 post update) look really good.

Most games support Off-Tv play, but some like ZombiU will require a TV since the gamepad is needed.

You do still need to set the initial boot up of the Wii U with a tv though. After that you won't ever need one again as long as what you want to play has an Off-TV mode.

To me the off screen graphics look very slick... Nice and smooth. Very good picture.

Sony might have such a deal. I don't think any xbox-specific footage has been shown (correct me if I'm wrong) for Watch_Dogs yet; AC4 too for that matter.

We haven't seen PS360 footage for either of these games whatsoever.

So simply not having seen anything; that alone doesn't mean much. We may not see CoD footage on Wii U until the game is out. There's no way it slips past November 5th.

The ONE thing making me slightly worried is that Splinter Cell had Wii U footage shown by now (relative to release date).

But if I had to guess I still expect to receive my copy on November 19th.

Splinter Cell wasn't a cross-gen game with a platform holder-specific co-marketing deal like AssCreed and Watch Dogs are or Call of Duty for Activision.

WHAT? Does Ubisoft actually want its games to sell on the Wii U or not?

Looks like they go out of their way to damage the Wii U sales somehow.

First Rayman, then no co-op for Splinter Cell. Watch Dogs delay rumour... What is next?
I know the game will only be released in 2014 in Japan, with the release of the PS4 to avoid people buying before on other consoles, i guess.

Absolutely. That's why, as I said, I'm overall not too worried, and don't believe this rumor.

I got the bad ending the first time through, I'm really thinking of doing a Halloween run through. THat might be a good idea for a thread, actually.

Honestly, it's fine, the pad screen is just at a lower resolution. This actually works well for VC games, they look a lot better on there than an HDTV most of the time.

I agree...I'd really love to have the time for a second playthrough...on Halloweeeeeeen!!!
and I agree on the gamepad: i love the vast majority of games on it

Just Sonic, Mario, and DK for me. I don't believe there is anything else I'll pick up. Maybe Batman.

Depending on what type of TV you have, the color isn't as vivid on the gamepad, but it still looks good and runs smoothly. Can't remember if you needed a TV for set up, but you don't need one at all afterward.

Personally, I think pretty much all games look better on the GamePad since you can't really see any of the faults (aliasing) and I feel the colors are better calibrated than on my TV (I tried like crazy to change the settings to match TV to GamePad in Trine 2 but failed).

The only problem is that it's tough to see tiny details sometimes in scenes from games that aren't designed to be played on such a relatively small screen. Laying down in bed and shoving it into your face helps a bit, though :D

We can only hope the title's longtail might push Ubi to develop a sequel at some point. It really is the perfect Halloween game though. I would love to see a sequel push the system to its limit.

Wii U has had almost no games for this entire year, but now they're all coming at once. Pikmin 3 and Rayman Legends were excellent, and I'm planning to pick up The Wonderful 101 after the storm this year. There's simply too much to play on it so I'm going to have to wait on that.

Planning on getting:
Wind Waker
Sonic
Donkey Kong
Mario 3D World

We just need to push everyone we can that buys a Wii u into picking it up, either amyone on this board that says theyve bought or buying one or anyone we know in real life (and yes i do know a couple of people that are planning to pick one up at some point)

I do hope any concerns I have are misplaced and not warranted in the end.

Is Wii fit U really not going to release before BF? What are they doing over there.

Releasing Wii Club U is far more important than Wii Fit U.

edit:

You'll be able to register to regional clubs and compete against rival ones, as well as make use of Miiverse to interact mid-match. When the service launches on November 7, only tennis and bowling will be available, though the other three activities will be added in the coming months.

Please tell me this isn't true. What the hell is Nintendo doing? Coming months?

No, they don't care if AAA games sell on Wii U or not, neither does Activision. Watch Dogs, AC4, COD: Ghosts are all loss leaders. Ubi/Activision are realesing them to appease Nintendo so they can release more casual fare like Just Dance, which sell HUGE numbers on Nintendo systems. So, in a way, casual games are the reason that you still get some AAA ports on Wii U, for now.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but Wii Party U is only $35 on Newegg with promo code EMCXLVP96.

At this price everyone should get it.

They need games out, and Bowling and Tennis are likely the easiest to port because there's no way they can integrate the Gamepad. I'd expect Boxing next, then something interesting Gamepad-related with Baseball and Golf ala the Wii U introduction video that might demand a higher dev time.

Wasn't this in development for a while? It looks like they are rushing it out the door. Wii Sports was a hit during thanksgiving. I thought getting a proper sequel out the door just before thanks giving would be a priority.
