So was farming fates in Coerthas yesterday to get from 37 to 38 and I feel like it was kind of a hassle. Especially when compared to Costa del Sol. The fates spawn very far away so I miss out when things get crowded, and I feel like my contributions are worthless sometimes. I was there for the entirety of the fate with the big dragon, and I only got 900 xp one time and 1,200 xp another. It took me several hours to gain enough xp for one level. Do you guys think moving back to Costa del Sol would be better?

Join a fate party if you haven't.

woah what'd i miss

This doesn't have anything to do with that CM group earlier, does it?

Im kinda surprised to hear that...unless it's something going on at higher level stuff.

I'm not high enough level to experience cliques yet but I had my share in GW2 before I left, so I know where you're coming from. The way I see people interacting in the FC and this thread it's hard to imagine it being that bad though (people seem helpful and willing to run things with anyone overall). Sorry you felt that way, wish you the best wherever you end up.

Remember everyone, there's two sides to every story and you're only getting one side of it. Numerous attempts have been made to reach out and help Grave Robber, and it's always a bad time. No one cared when you said you were going to quit in FC chat, or in mumble, so congrats on getting the sympathy you were looking for in the thread. gg

I managed to get in a full party and won the way to the fate they knew a shortcut involving going up a hillside and hopping over the wall. Managed to get 10 k xp :D
Oh yeah, not sure if you know the gibberish sprouted on shout but I'll post anyway since it might help some newer MMO players here.

LF = "Looking For" (used by party seekers and also parties seeking members)
[usually combined with]
#M = "# members" from parties seeking members, they might have specifics like a class if they're looking (BLM, WHM, PLD, etc.)
G = "Group" from party seekers

If you're hunting a fate party you'd just bang out something like "LF fate party [insert your class here]" or "LFG fate [insert your class here]". Alternatively you can send tells to people who are shouting "LF2M fate party" etc.

well this is the same guy that got upset he lost a greedroll

Well I asked in the party if you can pass on Mage gear for my BLM when I was a tank, yet people still greeded and went Oops!

Yeah, ask your FC members if I can better my BLM, yet they mistakenly greeded the items

So when even FC members go out of their way to greed items, it does sting a little
That whole dungeon I passed on stuff to others, yet 2 mage gear items drop *which both get greeded on), I'm labeled something

I have no idea what happened, but you're not exactly making yourself a good guy with these statements. I agree though that sometimes an FC is not for you but man, talk about burning bridges.

It's the truth though

I didn't say everyone in the FC is selfish, but get to end game and see what happens

If you don't get 7-10 static people with you by end game your shit outta luck
Good luck asking others for help for anything
See how many times people will do Titan to help push people pass to get their relic

Hell most are one and done with it

I'm sorry, that was an honest mistake with muscle memory from too many AK runs. I would never do that on purpose, and I apologise if I made you hate the FC; there are a lot of people in it who aren't terrible Dragoons. I hope you find a group that you like.

I noticed certain people in the FC will group with the same people everytime. I don't think it's a malicious or intentional thing. People are want to group up with the same friends they play well with. I can see how it would suck when you're outside looking in though.

I have been trying all week to get some Titan HM runs done, with little luck. It doesn't help that people run the fight with one tank either. Pretty much everytime I saw a FC run happening, the tank position was already filled. Hell everytime an Ultros group was forming the tank was filled. I literally sat hours in Mor Dhona and never saw "LF tank HM Titan" ever. Luckily a few guildmates did some runs with me last night; still no kill though. Hopefully I can get some more legitimate tries next week.

And they need to get the ilevel requirements in for duty finder asap. Losing because of skill is one thing. But sitting in queue for 20-30mins, only to see half your party members' gear is sub-50, is another.

Hell most are one and done with it

I can't tell you the amount of people I have run HM titan for (not all successful or just 1 attempts) because I can't count that high. I also can't tell you how many of those people were undergeared for the fight, came with no knowledge of the fight, didn't have enough hp, and didn't food buff.

I don't know your whole story, but at this point I am pretty much at the point where I will only help people who are willing to help themselves. Sorry if this sounds elitists, but when I am in game there are things I want to do. Some of those things are progression. Wiping on a boss I've killed a ton of times to help someone who didn't even look up a fight is a waste of time for me. Time I could be spending doing something else. Do you have "ok" gear? Watched a video on the fight? Come prepared? I'll help.

Someone in my FC left today because the level 50s can't find the right time to party up with her. And this a person who has played with the guild since the original Ragnarok Online days. We had to slow talk to her to come back. Getting the time when everyone can play 'seriously', especially when you get older with other commitments is hard.

So well, I am not surprised that it's hard to get a good level 50 party going, considering GAF calls itself more of a casual party. Not to mention if you can make a big fuss in here, I can't imagine the stuff you say in the linkshell and mumble. You are right if you want to say that this FC isn't for you, but stop instigating the others for the injustice you felt in the FC. It just isn't worth it.

Our coil group has pushed at least 7+ other GAFFers through Titan. If our schedules aligned better I'm sure it would be more. To say no one is helping @ endgame is just wrong.

You forgot to account for the lag which makes it impossible for many players to progress no matter how well they know the fight and how good they are.

For Duty Finder, this is a real problem that SE is going to have to address similar to the way Blizzard did, but any people you can influence directly, I would really recommend getting them to install the Leatrix Latency Fix. The two people in our small group who had AoE dodging problems now no longer do because of it.

NO! Don't make excuses and rationalizations for terrible behaviour. This is half the reason the community is so fucking terrible in late game.

Mor Dhona shouts: "LFM Titan HM, needs to be exp, needs to be geared."

Duty Finder: healer sees inexperienced, undergeared party member, ragequits within a minute of starting duty.

6 other people waiting with thumbs up their asses for duty finder to pop again so that they can have a 0.5 attempt before the next healer quits.

Meanwhile in Mor Dhona: "WTS Titan HM wins, 800k."

I'm not talking about experience, I'm talking about Gears. I'm perfectly ok with inexperienced pt members in the duty finder, however I'm not ok with people doing it in AF.

It's these kinds of people that breed elitist attitudes. Sometimes I feel like a jerk for inspecting people before a Titan run or asking about their gear, in fear of being labeled elitist because I don't want to wipe over and over with someone still in AF gear, and level 30 jewelry.

I'm totally against imposing irrational gear requirements on people in this game, but Titan actually does have a minimum level you need to be at or you have no chance of winning. For example, if you don't have at least 3100, you won't survive until the end of the battle because of the way he deals constant AoE damage that gets stronger and stronger. There's elitism and there's realism, and sometimes these two appear to intersect.

I can sort of see where some of GraveRobber's issues are coming from, due to the size and casual nature of the GAF FC it can be hard to get groups together. If people are already in a solid 8 man theres little incentive to "break it up" and as the guild itself has no real progression focus/structure thats not really going to change. In a smaller or more focused guild there'll be an expectation or (in even semi hardcore guilds) a requirement to held other guild members progress so that more people are geared for tackling endgame content. Neither side is "wrong" its just clashing wants and expectations. If you want to progress steadily and you want a gurantee of your FC helping you, as opposed to simply taking your chances that some might be up for it, then joing another guild is probably the best bet.

Or perhaps trying to form your own "raid" group from people within the FC who have the same time schedule? Maybe throw up a thread over on the FC forum, something along the lines of "Recruting for semi-casual EU raid group" - recruit 8-10 people for it and gurantee the group as a whole will run from 50->Ifrit->Garuda->Titan->Coil? (As an EU player I find that sometimes the server is a little empty in the evenings so if anyones interested in something like that drop me a line)

So I have a question if anyone here can answer. I have been waiting to pick up the game for the server issues to die out, but in the meantime im doing some research on the classes, and jobs, etc. Outside of Ultima Online, and EQ the MMO I have spent the most time with recently is DCUO, and I really enjoy playing controllers. So my question would be which class/job would be best for someone looking for that type of role?

Controllers in DCUO have a variety of responsibilities, but its main functions are crowd control, debuffs, and group power(mana) regen. Im not expecting a 1 to 1 option because the playstyle is not the same, but something comparable. If there is not anything like that Ill probably just roll a monk since warriors seem to frowned upon in late game.

Group power is bards

SCH/ACN have some debuffs / buffs

CC is mainly Thaumaturge with sleep

Bard or Summoner.

Depends on your dps. If you have under 3.4k buy some vit food. His stomps will eventually kill someone with 3.1k. Every little bit helps.

Yes, of course it depends on DPS since he gets stronger as time goes on. I think 3100-3200 is fine for out-of-group HP in a group with acceptable DPS. Add the VIT buff you get from being grouped with a tank and you'll be put into the mid 3200s at minimum which is enough. I've beaten it two times with people who had less than 3300 (myself included). Here is one such victory shot.

I haven't kept up with this game at all, well gaming in general since for a few years now. I'm looking for a new MMORPG to get into because I absolutely loved the genre in years passed. I'm a firefighter so I can either play all day (well a lot at least) or not at all, two extremes really.

Sorry for the generic questions but for one is this game casual friendly? I just don't have the time to devote to them anymore but I really enjoy the leveling process and PVP.

Just bought this for PS3... installing.

Lol... I hope the first month of subscription is free, since I forgot to deposit my paycheck today. Might have to wait until Monday to play, if not.

Anyway... if any other noobs are looking to team up, my PSN is the same as my gaf handle. Hit me up via gaf or PSN for some fun times. :)

edit: wow this install is like seriously slow, is that normal. afaik there's nothing DLing atm on my PS3, but it's been like 10 mins for just 7%... yikes. Maybe I actually won't be playing till Monday!

If this is indeed the problem, then it would do wonders for people to state this clearly aloud.

"This fight has DPS and HP checks... and unfortunately, it simply can't be done with someone undergeared."

Unfortunately, this isn't what I experienced - it was literally one fight, mistake made, quit without saying anything.

Repeatedly.

I am not saying it isn't do-able. You should still try and do everything you can your side to make sure you are successful. Getting to 3.4k with food buff (and war buff) isn't hard.

Vit is also tied to armor. There is a decent difference in armor between someone who is 3.1 and 3.3k hp.

It comes with a 30 day trial so no worries there.

When do you get access to all those fights that require a party to kill? I haven't seen anything like that so far (granted I'm only at level 18). Are those required to finish the story?

I'm about to hit level 40 so I'm pretty far from endgame content but I really hope there will still be Gaffers willing to help when I get there. It's a bit worrying seeing posts about endgame elitism for sure.

I personally don't care about people greeding loot. I can just do a dungeon again. No biggie. My issue is: Will there be someone to run that dungeon with, lol?

You should have seen some already, check your duty finder and make sure you're doing your story quests. There's a few short 'tutorial' instances (guildhests) that introduce people to partying and basic boss fight mechanics, they give awesome exp rewards the first time you do them.

As for dungeons, you pretty much need to clear them all for the story eventually from what I've seen (I'm only 30). Sastasha at least should be open by now, I went into it at level 18 and everyone said I was way behind.

Its full AK gear with DL accesorios enough for a DPS?

currently a lvl 42 dragoon, leveling is going pretty slow :[

i just wanna do more story missions but im at lvl 43 mission sigh.

got a cool Wyvern Spear from a dungeon run tho :D

I would say a primal weapon should be required before titan (either ifrit or garuda). I don't know if DL acc are enough. A lot of the DL accs are a small improvement. You don't need full DL, but some armor is probably needed.
