Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Yea, I played it a couple years ago on the DS. I would not start this if I didn't.

I waited simply because I wanted to be a place of no distractions because this is something that needs to be immersed in if 999 is anything to go by

Not at all! I was upgraded from the Junior status about 2~3 weeks back, 'tis a great feeling! Congrats!

Meanwhile I've been registered longer and have more posts and I'm still a Junior.

I don't get it.

I think I'll try the Super Stardust Delta demo before I decide about buying it but I am leaning towards that.

After 36 hours of downloading/installing, I started playing Uncharted 2 in my PS3 and...

Where is my gyro aiming? I still keep pressing L1 and moving my DS3... and it happens nothing. Lol, i have to play in normal because i can't hit anybody.

And I was playing Golden Abyss in crushing... it's sad.

Loving the game so far, though. I've played like 40 minutes and the story already seems a lot more interesting. The train prologue is awesome, assaulting a musseum was unique (and I feel pretty reassured when the musseum didn't get Nathan Draked, aka everything explodes and burns).

You're right about that. Every time I start up 999 I never make it beyond the flooded room with the blue and red suitcases, lol.

You'll grow tired of the train. At least I did.
And don't get used to it... it was a poorly paced "story" section... that stealth type gameplay doesn't really ever re-appear from what I remember...

I just started playing Rayman Origins (from the IGC). It's my first Rayman game and I couldn't love it more. Fantastic character designs and I am just marveling over the gorgeous environments. If Legends is anything like this I'm buying it like yesterday.

Legends is supposedly good, but it's still missing content contained in every other version, as the patch to add it hasn't gone live yet.

And it was my first real Rayman game too -- and I still say it's the best "classic" style platformer I've played in the last 15 years.

I'm waiting on Legends, but will most likely buy it for Vita once the patch is live (or it's the last day to buy it for the spend $50 promo).

Pick up Legends for sure, but finish Origins first, then take a little sabbatical before diving into Legends... let it digest a little.

Even with the missing content Legends is much better.

Origins is a more pure platformer and flows in a more traditional way. Legends has more variety and touch-hybrid stuff through the main course of the game, like Little Big Planet Vita. Even though you get a good chunk of Origins levels as unlockables in Legends, that portion of the game doesn't feel like a complete experience the way it does to have just played through Origins as it was originally presented. I'd say it's like listening to a Nas greatest hits album, instead of listening to Illmatic.

Jury's still out for me. Based on everything I've read, I'm going to say Legends loses out to Origins based on the touch-only levels (unless they patch it so you can play them like the PC/PS3/360 versions).

Surely Mortal Kombat wins that award?

That's another hard one -- the sheer time to get all the mastery stuff plus some of the online trophies are pretty difficult.

I wouldn't know, but I do know WipEout is one of the hardest platinums to get. Last time I checked, there was very few people with it (1.59% of all owners have it as of today).

They're both difficult, but not necessarily because of skill. Some places, sure, but not all... a lot of the problems with them have to deal with the online trophies or time requirements.

I wouldn't say it's MUCH better, but I do agree that it's better than Origins (which is one of my favorite platformers ever). If we had the option to play the Murfy levels as Rayman instead of Murfy - like they do in the 360/PS3 versions - it would be perfect. And, of course, it needs the Invasion stages. Really hope those are coming soon.

Exactly.

It's a bit unfair to judge a game you haven't played.

When a game has a significant amount of content that I don't really have an interest in playing (read: murfy levels) and a lack of content that I do want to play (read: invasion levels) --- comparing it to a game that is similar but has content I played to 100% completion twice already and will probably do a third time sometime soon (whenever my damned PC gets built), it takes a back seat and has to prove itself to be better, whenever I get around to playing it. So until I play it and it wows my fucking pants off, it's not better than Origins. And based off my preferences, I think that without the stuff mentioned by Van Winkle above, it will NOT eclipse the precedent set by Origins.

I like Origins much, much better than Legends, mostly because of the level design.

Origins had a less forgiving checkpoint system, but that meant each chunk of a level had to be fair. In Legends you have a lot of trial and error situations, which just doesn't work as well imo.

I don't think you understand my point. Having disinterest in a game (because of lack of content) is one thing. Saying it's not as good especially without actually experiencing the game is another. I just don't understand how you can come to a clear cut decision based on other peoples opinions so easily.

Simple.

You take a game I thought was pretty much perfect. I tout it as the best platformer in the last 15 years or so. It sits right up there with Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros. 3 for me. Now you compare it to the sequel. A sequel that, if I understand correctly, is basically missing the time trial portion of the first game (invasion levels) and replaces another portion of the levels with gimmicky touch screen/motion gaming. Unless the two changes (one is coming via a patch... eventually... the other might never happen) occur to let me play without touch/motion controls as well as restore my desired time trials, no matter how good the rest of the content is, those flaws will 99.8% guarantee that I think that Origins is the superior game.

Now if we switch to the PC platform and compare Legends and Origins there? There I will simply say I haven't played Legends, so I don't know if one is better than the other.

But as far as the Vita versions of these games go... again, 99.8% certain I will tell you Origins is better, even after I get and play Legends.

Oh come on, PS3 PS+ games get cross-buy removed from them, but Vita cross-buy is left as-is? Why do Vita owners always get the short end of the PS+ stick?

At least we get two Vita games though :) No PSP fighter!

Yeah, two vita PSN titles, not a retail and a PSN title.
Not sure what you mean about the PS3 PS+ games -- which games had it that ended up removing it when it went to plus besides something like maybe Machinarium?

having some trouble against
Kunino-Sagiri (the Heaven boss)
in P4G. im about to hit level 60 but id appeciate some tips for recommended party members or Personas to use.

Just bought killzone Merc. Digital, damn this game looks like KZ3 with better light!just incredible. Controls are a little bit difficult but i get used to it.

if anyone wanna join a game or two ,add me: PSN ID : C0D10X

im also on Streetfighter X Tekken

Origins is better due to the sheer focus on the precision platforming, the removal of the invasion levels and the shoddy touch controls (which are actually handled a ton better on other non-touch consoles) just makes Legends slip below Origins.

Is that the one people suggest fusing Black Frost for? I can't remember.
I'm not a good one to comment on it because that boss was simple for me... I think I had MC, Yuki, Yosuke, and Naoto the first time.

I think Holy damage was good to use... that and the spells that nullify an enemy's resistance to an element.

ive read the opposite actually. Many people say that Black Frost is too slow at this point in the game and the recommend fusing Tam-Lin or Thor actually

My memory is fuzzy on that, sorry. :P

The more I think about it, the more I think my party was MC, Teddie, Yukiko, Naoto and MC/Naoto spammed holy spells.

Ok so, you NEED a persona with Makarakarn (which is a spell that reflects magic skills.) In his first phase, just put it on one of your party members and every other turn he'll waste a move trying to get rid of it.
When he starts using Quad Convenge, he'll power up one type of ability (Zio, Agi, Garu, Bufu) and weaken the other threee but it won't state what type. During this time place Makarakarn on people and use physical attacks. His first attack will indicate what type he buffed and following that start using that type against him/continue to place magical shields on your team until he Quad Convenges again or switches to the next phase.
Basically Makarakarn is key. In his last few phases he'll take control of your party members temporarily so make sure your protag is always high on health (they'll return to you eventually.) In this phase there's little need to Makarakarn (if I remember correctly) but just keep chipping away at his health.

Im one of those =). The online campaign is so long its ridiculous. Dont know how many people still play online it might be even harder now. Online trophies shouldnt exist imo, at least to get the platinum. Heck i dont think it should count towards 100% either, it should be seperate. Great game.

What do you mean? I've been able to download the cross-buy counterpart regardless of whether it was a PS3 or Vita game on PS+. What's more it seems that you can keep them after your membership has run out.

I was playing on Normal and fused Thor about 3 dungeons before the end of the game...and I basically just slammed the rest of it once I did :P

Was Thor really that great? I was killing it once I had Yoshitsune fused, think it's even more powerful than
izanagi-no-okami

Yoshitsune is by far the best Persona in the game. Once I got him, I never had to switch Personas besides for the few enemies who resist physical attacks.

holy crap

it finally happened

saw a vita being played in the wild. inside a mcdonalds. vita saved, confirmed.

I actually did a double take just in case I was confusing it for a PSP, lmao

Even with the missing content Legends is much better.

Have to agree with the others on the Origins/Legends comparison. From what I've played, it seems Origins is slightly beating out Legends as the better game. To be fair, it might be because Origins was such a dark horse and Legends is forced to live up to hype.

NEED my ass.
I never used that skill once. EVER.
Maybe it makes it easier... but it's not the only way, that's for sure.

Am I the only one that went through the game with Izanagi? :(

What? You stayed with the original persona for the whole game?

Oh, so you didn't stick to the basic skills. Izanagi is still pretty good if you have the right skills on him.
