What anime besides Steins; Gate and Attack on Titan are worth watching?

I'd recommend Genshiken. Great series following a bunch of nerds in an anime club at a school. Currently on its third season. The cast get shuffled around a lot between seasons.

A Certain Magical Index

Chrome Shelled Regios

Code Geass

Death Note

Cowboy Bebop

Durarara!!

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

Gundam 00

Hell Girl

Hellsing Ultimate

Noein

Soul Eater

Space Battleship Yamato 2199

Another vote for Gundam 00?! really?! 00?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?l23/krlfgjklalsdcfkl

Well it's a damn good thing there's plenty of interesting shit goin' down in each and every episode of LoGH.

That was quite possibly one of the most ridiculous criticisms of LOGH ever. In fact, one of the problems with LOGH is that there's too much going on. Criticizing it from the completely opposite view implies that he probably didn't even watch very much of it.

Off the top of my head, some I really enjoyed.

Right now I'm really enjoying Future Diary and Space Brothers

Black Lagoon
Monster
Blood +
Soul Eater
FMA Brotherhood
Full Metal Panic
Moribito
Legend of Korra / Avatar

The 3 new Berserk movies. Sword of the Stranger. Summer Wars.

I loved the first few episodes of Attack on Titan and I have honestly never seen a show fall off a cliff so fast.

00 is a great place to start. It's more instantly captivating due to the more easily graspable politics of the world. Don't get me wrong, 0079 (full series) is better but it can easily throw off a newcomer who doesn't have any interest in getting deep into Gundam, an interest which I gained exactly because of 00.

Thread needs more Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Fate/Zero recommendations. I'll add in a mention for Kara no Kyoukai as well because of the glorious animation, music and atmosphere. There's not much point in trying to offer a synopsis of the plot because the movies take place in a non-chronological order.

Berserk is definitely another must experience kind of thing. It's up to you if you want to read the manga or watch the '97 anime. The anime gets a lot of shit for having little animation but in my opinion it's great, stays true to the original character designs and it always looks great whereas the new movie consistently cuts away important story sequences, messes with the character designs to give everyone a stupid looking mouth and nose and has a soundtrack that is so unrivaled in it's blandness that you barely even notice it has a soundtrack. I don't know what Shiro Sagisu was on when he composed that junk. The original anime had an absolutely glorious soundtrack by Susumu Hirasawa and it's amazing to read the manga alongside the soundtrack after finishing the anime.

Whatever you do, don't watch the Berserk movies first. They're kind of stupid. The only good part is the ending of the third one - from the eclipse to the post-credits sequence it's simply great.

I started reading OP, thought it was boring. I got excited after pushing through it a little more, all the way up to some sort of underwater Shellfish island thing in One Piece and got very bored again.

Haven't touched it since.
Did you start from the beginning? Because it sounds like you stopped at Fishman Island which would mean you read over 600 chapters.

Bit of a hijack; but it was linked to and I've been curious for awhile:

Is there a place to buy the complete Lupin III series?

In the US? I don't think so. Geneon/Pioneer never got around to licensing all of Red Jacket Lupin did they? I think Season 1 can be found on Amazon, but Funi's stuff is likely out of print. I don't think Season 3 ever got an official release.

Edit: Season 1 is pretty cheap on Amazon, while Season 2 (possibly incomplete, it's hard to tell) is out of print and only available from third party sellers (Robert's Corner Anime Story has all of them, but for pretty steep prices). Season 3 is nowhere to be found, as I expected.

This is what my searching found as well; but I wanted to confirm in case I was missing something. Thanks.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Paranoia Agent
Inuyasha
Gurren Lagann
Black Rock Shooter
Dragonball
Code Geass
Puella Magi Madoka Magica

I could list so many more but those are the first that come to mind. ;v;

LoGH sounds awesome and I'm intrigued, but is it one of those anime where you must pay attention to every little piece of dialog otherwise you'll get lost in translation? Which is more confusing....LoGH or Mobile Suit Gundam/Zeta Gundam? Where does LoGh rank on the super confusing/mind fuck scale?

It's more like... LoGH will make you pay attention to it and it made me appreciate dialogue in a way I had not before.

Gundams don't even compare, even if Char Aznable is one of the coolest characters ever and has some amazing lines. LoGH can make you shiver at the prospect of two characters potentially meeting so they can have a direct dialogue.

UC Century Gundam so far doesn't have that type of mindfuckery to it, although I can't comment on it much since I'm halfway through Zeta now. No mindfuckery at all for LOGH. Think of it like WWII in space. And I can't believe I forgot about Fang of the Sun Dougram. Best show on infantry + mech tactics.

Better than VOTOMS?

Thanks buddy.

OK question....should I watch both Gunbuster and Diebuster OVAs, or should I just watch "Aim for the Top: The GATTAI!"(the combined movie)?

You just described every Gundam since Wing.

Seriously. But 00..maybe season 1 is bearable, but season 2 is a wreck. I also think people don't give Seed enough credit. The first half of it really pays its respects to 0079.

This thread is great. Not only is Attack on Titan the best manga to anime adaptation ever, its apparently better than Legend of the Galactic Heroes too. I await the Citizen Kane comparisons next.

I don't care about that, I want to see the The Last of Us of anime!

this is the worst opinion I've ever heard.

Actually it's wrong, yes I am calling your opinion WRONG.

Steins;Gate is boring. Haven't watched AoT yet. OP, you asked a viral question. I recommend Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Madoka, standard recommend stuff. Not gonna add to that. Look and see if From The New World, Spice and Wolf, and Gurren Lagann are you flavor.

Finished watching Eva for the third time last night(original TV series not the movies). First time I watched it in about 5 years. Good ole Eva,,,same mind fuck it's always been

I am wondering if the new remake movies are much better than the TV series, and are they worth watching even though the final 4.44 film is not out yet? When the hell is it coming out anyway?

The Rebuild movies are trash and best left be.

The Rebuild movies are great. Some of the Eva purists are bitter about them, but 1.11 and 2.22 are great. 3.33 is debatable. Lotta people didn't like it as much as the first two, myself included, although I will be watching it again when it comes out in the US.

I finished it for the first time a couple of hours ago.

I've seen Death Note, Madoka and now Evangelion, Eva has been the first anime I've enjoyed all the way though. I'm pretty excited to see EnE. Whenever anime music starts I have to turned the volume down, this was the first time I had been turning it up.

I'm going to try Attack on Titan next even though I'm 90% sure I'll hate it, then use it as an excuse to not have to watch any more anime.

The Rebuild movies are useless without the nostalgia trip. Even then you're only left with an Anno CG wankfest.

If you're watching Eva for the first time, watch until End of Evangelion, reflect on how awesome that was and then wait 10 years to watch Rebuild.

I'm going through RahXephon now and I'm ummm.....not feeling it. The writing and story are all over the place. The writers have failed to make me(the viewer) become emotionally attached to any of the characters(unlike Eva which they've accomplished beautifully). Ayato is a whining, poorman's Shinji and that Red-headed Mu chick is just dull. 12 more episodes to go before I'm done with one guys. Thanks God.

If you're not feeling it, just drop it.

Would I have to watch all the Starblazers to understand what's going on in this one?

Yamato 2199!

I just watched Gundam 00, and I liked it. Not the best shit ever but pretty entertaining mech action devoid of SEED drama

What is better recommendation...watching Gundam 00 TV series or the OVAs? Please let me know.

Also, bonus question....which is better between 00 and 0083 SM?
