Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

I heard something about an upcoming Atlus sale--is this happening?

And should I buy TiTS? I really liked what little I played on PSP, but I'm having trouble convincing myself to purchase it a second time around.

edit: Top of the page! Buy Hotline Miami!

Out of all the FFs, FFIV is the one I dislike the most, followed immediately by FFXII.

In fact, FFX and FFX-2 are members of my very small list of "JRPGs I bother to actually pursue 100% for."

X-2 was a pretty terribad experience to 100%. Guide Dang it, Oversouling every enemy, etc, etc, I dunno how I managed to do it as a kid. I dunno if I can still do that now.

This is the reason I joined Neogaf.
VitaGAF!

Anyway...

Playing through Lone Survivor (impulse buy, had some spare cash in my account)
Fantastic atmosphere! So many great indie games on Vita now... Hotline Miami is one of my favourite this year (Vita anyway).
Can't wait for Batman, Tearaway & Ys soon!

Not if you are in the U.S., since it will be free on PS+ later this month.

Welcome to NeoGAF, Superman. I don't see how you have time to play games considering the world is always in peril. I guess that would be why you'd get a portable system though.

Thanks!
Exactly. Good spot.
I need my Persona 4 player anywhere I may be.

New member here as well! Bought my Vita after the price drop (the 1yr PS+, 4gb card, etc deal).

Been loving it. Mostly through Guacamelee (got stuck on a pretty rough, and probably optional section, and haven't gone back yet). Looking forward to playing through Rayman Origins on the Vita. Beat it on the Wii with the girlfriend, and right now we are playing Legends on console.

Also just ordered a 32gb card with the Best Buy deal, no more having to juggle (for now).

Glad to be part of VitaGAF! Have had the monthly thread bookmarked since I got my vita. Good reading, great community.

Welcome! I am glad you played Rayman on consoles first, because once you play it with the Vita's unparalleled d-pad and glorious OLED there's no turning back.

This is the reason I joined Neogaf.

Thinking of buying Street Fighter x Tekken.
For people who own it, how is it? Is online dead? Is there a good amount of single player content?

I'll buy TiTS next time it's on sale.

Welcome! Just be careful you don't destroy the Vita while doing Uncharted boss fights and your Vita will be safe.

Yep, I joined GAF because VitaGAF seemed a nice and warm place to be. And riding the hype train evertime there is a major event is a lot of fun.

i like it a lot. the online has been dead, but since it's been added to PSN + in the UK that could have changed slightly.

i no longer play and went back to marvel

A few days into owning this and I must say it's a fantastic little console this.

If Sony get the ps4 this right then they are onto something big.

how does one apply to join vitagaf?

I just bought Street Fighter Alpha 2 in the EU sale, playing it on Vita but it's not filling the whole screen, and I can't get the options menu up.
I thought you had to hold the touch screen to bring the screen options up, but holding the screen isn't doing anything, any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

I barely even played SF x Tekken when it came out, but I've gotten back into it and really like it now. It's pretty crazy to have on a handheld now that I'm letting it soak in.

You can play against PS3 owners, too. When I played arcade last week, I got "new challenger" 3 times before even getting a few seconds into the first round... night before last I was having trouble finding more than one laggy game, though, 'cause I had to look outside my region to find a game. Weekend had a few games, though.

It used to be touch-hold... now you hold the PS button on the bottom left, the one that brings up brightness settings.

It got changed recently. You need to hold the PS button.

Welcome to GAF, Supes, glad to see you're enjoying the Vita =)

Also, how cool would it be to get an LE Capcom Vita that has 6 face buttons, Saturn style along with a Ultra SFIV release? I'd buy it.

If I enjoyed UMvC3 and SSF4, will I like this? I've heard both appealing and unappealing things about this, but apparently a good part of that was addressed in the ver. 2013 update.

Does that apply to the Vita version as well?

absolutely. i actually prefer it to SFIV as you don't have to plink to do a lot of combos like you do in SFIV

the combo/juggle system takes some time to get used to

and yes, the update applied to the vita version as well

Awesome, thanks.
Never could reliably plink online (though that was probably because I was using a pad). And then there was the 3DS version with touch button spam.

Looks like there's a nice amount of modes in this too. Guess I'll be picking it up tonight.

it's good. i have it for vita and ps3, but played on the vita because that's where i could do training mode the most.

made it up to #2 on the leaderboards, currently #3.

i think the combo system is much less advanced that marvel

I had pledge for Hyper Light Drifter awhile ago, but remembered that the game was getting co-op. Got scared that it'd be scrapped from the Vita version. Contacted the guys at Heart Machine, and apparently ad-hoc support is planned.

I'm content again.

I don't have it but a friend in my Vita club has it, and when I asked him if he can understand stuff in it since I know he's been learning Japanese, all he said to me is "Somewhat" and laugh.

So, I guess it's not really import friendly? That's how I take it anyways.

:(

Not really import friendly really. Lot of texts which is not spoken. Mission details are told through text. I will say if you cannot read japanese, don't get this. Maybe you should wait for the sequel instead?

;_;

Yeah I was just asking if the original was import friendly to pre order sequel.

I hope there is at least an Asian translated version of the game. I want to punch people's clothes off.

yeah, why can't we get the bizarre japanese games in the west anymore, I miss the PS1/2 era {:(

by buying Texture Sacrifice and Persona 4 Golden.

now if you buy Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure you'll join VitaGAF Plus & Gold VIP club.

I saw that P4G is onsale on PSN this week for 20 bucks. I've played a persona game, but I love a good RPG.

Should I jump on this price or wait and see if it is put in the IGC on PS+ next month?

Buy it. I paid full price and it was worth it.

I think P3P is more likely to be added to IGC than P4G anyway.

oh darn.

as someone who doesn't like JRPG's I'll sadly never be getting PS4G.

I really wish I liked them but just don't get on with them.

Forever Alone :-(

Go get earth defense force, you can choose between 150 weapons to use in order to slaugher giant insects, including a flame thrower.

It would need a US release under $199. Even then, this bundle I was looking at included a year of PS+ which was one of the reasons I was going to pull the trigger.

We'll see. Maybe I'll come back in a few months and reanalyze everything. :)

Do it for the FREE Hotline Miami.

You'd buy that game anyways, so consider it another free $10.

Then you might even get an additional $10, for activating the plus subscription ($50 spent in Oct, get $10 back).

I've had (have) to Vitas. The launch black performs admirably as if it were new and has 0 burn in.

My white unit from Oct 12 (AssCreed) has a slight, slight darker ridge where the browser left a discoloration (used it for many, many hours and days after parting with the iPad 2 for a period after).

If you keep the brightness reasonably lowered and avoid using the browser for 4 hours plus, consistently - without breaks you'll be fine.

P3P is garbage anyway, and do worth it even for free, if it got free in PS+ people need to avoid it and save their bandwidth.

P4G is more than just a traditional JRPG, because there is a huge high school sim and dating sim in it it's not just mindless "let save da galaxy with our huge funny looking swords" bullshit you get from FF or Tales of games , also you can play it just for the fantastic story and characters using very easy mode even if you don't know how to play JRPG since you can't die in that mode.

really, that's interesting thanks?

the turn based combat has often ended it for me.

I've got a long way in to several games but often lost the desire to grind toward the end of the games and got myself killed.

That does sound more my thing then. would allow me to easy myself.

more of a must buy than kz then?

How long with P4G be on sale?

P3P is garbage anyway, and do worth it even for free, if it got free in PS+ people need to avoid it and save their bandwidth.

P3P added the female protagonist with far better social links and Theodore as an option instead of Elizabeth. New songs (awesome songs at that) and a way better game mechanics. Being able to control your teammates is a must when in the original they make wacky decisions (you know who you are). Being tired after leaving Tartarus > getting tired during battle making things more complicated (this is a personal preference though).

Sure it's gimped in some departments, but it's for the PSP and it's a darn good game.
