quality over quantity sucka!
im tired of filler pokemon
That's actually my problem, and why I'll be disappointed with this gen if GF decides to (yet again) add a lot of monsters while ignoring the broken ones they leave behind.
We always get the new Pidgey and Rattata, the useless one-offs and what have you. They're just thrown in and forgotten, adding little substance while bloating the roster. It often feels like there are only a handful of interesting monsters when all is said and done.
That's why I like new evolutions. They don't add as much "weight" to the roster as an entirely new monster line, it balances the game and adds more diversity, and supports established fanbases for those monsters by giving them something to cheer about.
Raticate not doing much? Make it into a competitive Normal/Poison based on a
rat king and call it Rattiking.
Muk wasting space? Hold this metal orb and evolve into a Poison/Steel blob of mercury.
Rapidash looking glum? Enjoy your Fire/Flying Pegasus, bitch.
Instead, we've got a huge quantity of Pokémon with little quality. Mega evolutions are definitely a step in the right direction (especially for 3-stage Pokémon that can't evolve again), but the limits of the mechanic means we still need standard evolutions. (Or, at least, heavily adjust movepools, abilities, or even base stats to get older Pokémon up to speed.)
