Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

So I started playing VLR two days ago.
WOKJDFA The story is awesome :O. So many plot twists, it's ridiculous xD
I regret not playing this earlier and it looks like I am going to buy 999 after I am done.

It plays so well that I had to pull myself from the demo.

This. Literally spent like 6 hours in one go on the demo... Came on GAF and was surprised to find no one seemed excited for GE2 :(

I'd pick up the Japanese version when it comes out in nov, but don't want to miss out on the story....

Here you go

Wow, much appreciated, fijim!

On another topic, I just found out the hard way how little 8GB is. GR, Uncharted and SxT was all it took to fill it. SxT looks and plays wonderfully, by the way.

I'll be excited when they annouce it for west ;)

If you're not too far down the VLR hole, you might want to consider holding off on finishing the game and playing 999 instead. Otherwise you'll get most of the core plot points of 999 spoiled, and have a significantly lessened experience.

this ain't vita related but Gstop is having a buy 2 get 1 free for PSP games for those interested in brining life to their PSPs

picked up the turd birthday, MGS PO (seriously, why isn't this on the PSN store yet Konami/SCEA?) & loco roco

Whoa.

Another DC patch?!

Shame that doesn't work on digital downloads so you can play them on Vita. ;)

Arrrrrggg. GAF. I can't decide which new game to get. Soul Sacrifice or Persona 4 Golden.

For RPGs, i like item hunting, a good story, and good combat.

I'm a little leary of P4G because of the dating and high school required stuff...

This was just posted on the PS Facebook page. It's a screenshot of the UI for the PS mobile application. Am I crazy for hoping the Vita UI gets a redesign to look somewhat similar?

Yeah.

Vita horrible UI need a complete redesign, make it more like modern UI (iOS7, Metro/WinP8) and more user friendly especally the system settings, also it need less apps all over the screen, like put all social apps like Near, Friend list, Party, group messaging into one single app.

Social links != dating. Both are good games but I certainly got more enjoyment from P4G.

lol.

but yeah I agree Near is stupid and pointless, either just make it function like Nintendo's streetpass (it's ok to copy that) or just remove it.

also awful Welcome Park need to go away from every Vita, and an option to hide the text under the bubbles should be there...there are tons of thing they need to do to this outdated boring UI.

I'm not sure why he has growlanser and gungnir in the list.

P4G has been on sale for $20 once before. But I'd grab it now. It's really good. ;)
Beware though, 3.1gb install.

Aaaaannnd that, i have like 4gb left in my 16gb card. I want a 32gb but the bestbuy promo is not working for me.
If it'll make you feel better, I have both P4G and Growlanser 4 in my Vita backlog =V
My JRPG backlog consists of FFIX and VII for my vita. Ni No Kuni, KH1.5, Suikoden, and Dragons Crown for my PS3 D:

There's not a lot of item hunting in P4G... there's some quests where it will be like "go find this enemy in this dungeon and get 4x of the item it drops" but I don't think that's what you're looking for? I thought they were boring and the rewards were generally trivial so there was no incentive to do it in most cases.

The story is good.
The combat is good.

There is no dating required. There's simply a social aspect to the game, but it's integrated in a way so that it's just essentially part of the story as you choose which friends to make and what to do after school, etc.

I wasn't huge on the idea of the "social" part of the game, but it was really fun during the first playthrough and during the second I was still interested in checking out the relationships I hadn't maxed the first time.

Maxing some is required for extra dungeons and some endings and such, but it's never really a chore and sometimes there's some nice perks to actually working on them.

It's very well done.

That said you should buy both, because they're two of the main reasons for anyone to own a Vita.

i am not a damn girl, stop sending me friend requests.

U R a GRRL?
i wiLL sEnd u a FR, k?

Truth on the social links.
For me, I got more enjoyment out of Soul Sacrifice.

My backlog has a lot more than that in it. ;)

I find streetpass to be stupid and don't really care for it other than occasionally trolling 3DS owners by telling them to buy a Vita.

So take it or leave it, I don't really care. If they made it more like streetpass, I still wouldn't care.

All said though, I'd LOVE to be able to delete Welcome Park. And they should let us choose to uninstall things like Maps too and just make them free apps on the store should we want to reinstall them some day.

Dragon's Crown is not a JRPG.
And you bought it on the wrong platform. :P
If you focus on playing through P4G, you can just delete it when you're done. That's what I did after getting the platinum.

Idk why so many people have problems with the Best Buy promo. Don't order online with in-store pickup. Just print the coupon and go to the store.

Don't bother playing Ni no Kuni, KH and Dragons Crown they are all awful (sell the hell out of them if they are on PS3 discs)

FFVII is very overrated but still decent (6 is the FF king) Suikoden and FFIX are good.

My store doesnt have the 32 gb in stock. The nearest one that has one is 45 min away.

^ I just got Kingdom Hearts and Dragons Crown T_T

It's sad, but things like that make me understand why most girls into gaming didn't like to speak in multiplayer games.

Have you a girl as your avatar?

Social links != dating. Both are good games but I certainly got more enjoyment from P4G.

Social Links are more about character development and subplots, IMO. BTW, I bought P4Golden! Any store have it for a decent price but then @androgyne send me a link where I could buy a copy for 27 euros!

Bought it this morning. Fuck GameStop. Now I have to wait 5-7 days until it arrives.

I don't mind Near. I enjoy getting new Treasure Park maps. I haven't had anyone from my Near radius actually talk to me yet though, just occasionally give me a SF skin or Uncharted gem.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on that 64GB card. Guess I'll see how the order goes in a couple weeks.

Honestly, I like the way that Dragon's Dogma game looks. I know it's not doing much for Vita's rep, but the battle maps give me a Yu Gi Oh Dungeon Whatever vibe, and the battle screens look like some good 'ol JPN first person dungeon crawlers. Whether I play it or not is entirely dependent on it's pricing model, though... I expect that to be criminally ridiculous.

Holy cow why do you hate dragons crown so much?

Just because it got repetitive after the first playthrough?

Multiplayer, Loot, and Chaos dungeon extend the replay plenty.

Its definitely on par with the last great beat em up Castle Crashers except much deeper in the customization department.

I recommend it to anyone

Me too. The differences in how most of the character play makes it worth checking them all out. I'm currently working on finishing normal with the elf, which will leave the wizard... and when I like how a character plays, I find myself doing all the side quests for the 3rd or 4th time just to get extra skill points for my abilities.

Wow. Putting 6 on top? Figures. Just add it to the list as another series where you take one of the games I consider to be lower than many others and put it on top.

Dragon's Crown is fantastic. I can't say anything about Ni No Kuni but I have high hopes based off my friend's recommendations. If he likes something enough to platinum it, most of the time it's pretty solid overall. That said, I will agree with you on KH though. Those games were NOT good. When I first got KH (on release day) I hit the Tarzan/Jungle Book area with the tree before getting frustrated (that's pretty early on). The game is just plagued by poor controls, first and foremost is the dumpster fire that is "lock-on". I rushed through the game to trade it back for maximum credit. (The only other game in that time period that caused this for me was Wind Waker... but while that had some early bumps, it didn't falll apart until much later in the game.)

Oh mind you my Vita backlog is big, heck I have gmes on my PSN account I haven't even installed on my Vita lol.

Don't we all?
And I'm not talking just about games I've finished that I'm unlikely to play again. :P

I keep debating whether I should play Virtue's Last Reward. I didn't know what to think about the demo when I played it a long time ago. I mean, I didn't HATE it, I just...wasn't that big into it.

So for someone new to the series Disgaea 1 or 2 on PSN?

D3 looks good but I only have $19.99 in funds (This is no longer on PS+, correct?)

I don't agree about Dragon's Crown (those Guardian Heroes & Castle Crashers feels <3) but VI is my jam.

6 > 12 > Tactics > 4 > 10 > 9... I don't really feel like ranking the rest, but I like all of them, pretty much.

1... it should make you love the series like it did for most fans. It might not have the same effect it did back when it was new and fresh, but I'm optimistic.

I'd say 3 because you can get it on physical media as a real Vita game and has some mechanic improvements (+some slight visual improvements), but you're looking to buy digital, so whatever :P Some Disgaea fans will tell you different games in the series are garbage, but they're all good in their own ways imo. Disgaea 1's cast was the best.

Yeah, I would choose 3 but I only have PSN credit, so looking to use that. Thanks for the reply though!

You have excellent tastes!

I really like the look of this. A redesign similar for the vita would be very nice. My only small complaint is that it looks very slightly Win8 ish, and my only reason for disliking that is the whole originality thing, it almost looks like a Sony branded win8 app.

But really, that's all silly talk, as I can't wait to download that sucker to my devices. I will use it every day; sometimes opening the app, then acting like I have a phone call so I can whisper sweet nothing's into its ear.

Indisputable :p

I beg to differ, ser. :P

Yeah, I've never seen that ranking before... and I don't agree with it at all.
I don't even rate Tactics in the main series. 10 and 12 are near the bottom of my list with 5 and 2. 6 is probably about 6th on my list. Top 5 currently consists of 7, 8, 9, 4, and 13, but not necessarily in that order.

And while we're at it: Digital > Physical, 99% of the time... unless you're Toto and hate Dragon's Crown and wish you could sell it. :P

I see people say they like 6 & 12 all the time. I rank Tactics because I like it so much.

Physical loads faster, is less likely to be unavailable and irretrievable in the future, is more conducive to managing memory card space, and has the potential to increase it's value over time. There's also a psychologically endearing sentiment found in being able touch and see the things you love, like being in a real relationship rather than a long distance one. Digital makes for more convenient access, but can perform noticeably slower depending on the game, and ends up being less convenient when it comes time to make tough decisions in order to concede space for new purchases, especially since cloud saving is tied to an additional expense of $50 a year.

I don't sell any Vita games I own on physical media.

Are the load times for the digital version of P4G worse than the physical version? If so o might just buy the physical version. Oh and I FINALLY got a physical copy of DOA5 plus. Freaking thing was a bitch to find at gamestop but I got it brand new from Target.
