Speaking of relic+1, I did the math with the currently-known cure formulas, and it turns out that relic+1 with darklight gear is actually significantly better than regular relic with AF2 body and head. It's still hard for me to part with all of those tomes, but I think I'll go with relic+1 first after all. Even though I am tired of the darklight body piece.

We must be looking at totally different formulas, specially if you got "significantly better" returns :O Here's the gist from the calculator I use:

Darklight Body/Helm + NQ Thyrus

Avg. Cure: 921.72 HP Healed
Avg. Crit Cure: 958.84 HP Healed

Darklight Body/Helm + HQ Thyrus

Avg. Cure: 961.38 HP Healed
Avg. Crit Cure: 1000.11 HP Healed

AF2 Body + Helm + NQ Thyrus

Avg. Cure: 966.86 HP Healed
Avg. Crit Cure: 1005.8 HP Healed

And that's not factoring in the increased Survivability/longevity you gain from AF2 Body/Helm from the increased VIT/PIETY, was is pretty huge in itself (A gain of 15VIT and 23PIE)

Edit- It's the healing calculator used on BlueGartr also, so I like to think that it hasn't steered me wrong. But, it's certainly possible. Which one do you use?

Not looking forward to being a tin can (tank DL gear on PLD). Vastly prefer the AF look or even the AK gear over DL. Will just have to tough it out til AF+1.

Are you talking about this?
I'll compare the output on that with the data I have against what I used and show you what I used when I get home. Don't have that stuff with me at the moment.

Yeah, that's the one.

Really interested in seeing your findings, hit me with a forum PM or /tell online when you get to it just in case I miss the thread post.

Edit-- Trying to think of reasons we could have got different findings. Did you adjust the healing potency when you were plugging the numbers in from the sets?

Ok, stupid question time...

I just started the relic reborn quest, and got up to the part where you have to obtain a weapon, have some materia melded to it, and bring it to someone.

I bought the weapon on the market board, but I have absolutely no clue what you have to do to meld materia onto a weapon. Do I have to take up a craft to do that? Or do I just go to one of the major cities and /shout that I need someone to meld it onto the weapon for me?

Definitely seek out somebody to meld the two T3 Materia to it rather than the latter notion.

Yea, you can shout to have someone meld the materia to your weapon, albeit they may request a fee. Make sure to have a different weapon ready when you turn it in, since you can't have it equipped when you do so.

Anyone know where some cool bows drop? Are they end game only? Any in Brayflox dungeon?

Brayflox you can get a aetherial bow after first boss that has random stats on it other than dex, which is constant. Sunken temple at 35 you can get this from last boss:

http://xivdb.com/?item/1919/Kokoroon's-Nestpicker

Stone Vigil at 41 from last boss:

http://xivdb.com/?item/1927/Shadow-Bow

After those you can use the 44+ aetherial/GC bows til 50, when you should buy the base relic bow or the Wanderer's Palace one from last boss, both of which you can use until Ifrit weapon. Most people just make a beeline for the Ifrit though since he's easy sauce in full AF.

Then it's

Ifrit > Garuda > Titan/Relic > Relic +1

Beat Garuda HM last night. Just need to beat Titan HM for my Relic weapon. I might try that this afternoon. I really don't want to farm for the other 2 or so pieces of Darklight because they're the most expensive ones. I've got otherwise though and am sitting at around 3700 HP for my MNK.

Seems everyone who got temp banned had more or less all their gil removed. Have to imagine theyre not subbing.

So a question to you, and anyone that has done so. How do you get higher than a bronze on Odin/Behemoth? Every time i've done it, i struggle to even see the damn enemy, but even doing some (what i thought to be) solid damage, I still end up with 10gil and 15 seals and a big sad face. :(

The one time I got gold was when Odin spawned during a fairly "dead" time (10AM GMT/Whatever godless time that is in America)

AH Economy was distorted by gilsellers that hacked, exploited and introduced mass amounts of gil that wouldn't otherwise be there in the economy.

Those that engaged in the AH through crafting 'benefited' from this extra gil in the economy, with highly inflated gil prices.

Which in itself isn't a huge deal... except that end game content includes housing paid for with gil... and that doesn't work as intended when there's too much gil in the economy!

This is necessary corrective action.

The Sunken Temple of Qarn was fun and easy. We almost beat the first Doom boss with just 3 people and me tanking as DRG. People kept letting Doom get them though so once the Paladin got in the party it made it a bit easier.

Assuming your DPS is on point, that's more than enough.

Anything north of 3.1-3.3k or so is fine really, and anything above 3.5k is easy.

Practice a few runs in DF to learn the first four phases (lol), study up on how p5 changes and you should be good to go.

It still seems wrong to just ban people for a week, divide their gil by 100, and call it day. The crafters didnt exactly do anything wrong here.
That said, I dont really know the right way for SE to approach it either.

I feel like theres more to it though. One guy claimed that he only had 1.6 mil and they banned him for it and then dropped him down to 50k. For 1.6 mil? That just seems silly.

You should be more than fine just master those dodges and Spharai is yours.

Figured as much. I'll probably do that in DF yeah.

I only have 3 DL right now, head, hands, feet. i60 other for body armor. mix of i60-i55 for accessories.

The DL body and legs are the upgrade I don't have but it takes a lot of Tomes I don't want to spend unless I have to, lol. The DL belt is barely an upgrade over the i60 belt and really not with the tomes until last.

The DL accessories don't provide VIT, which kinda sucks. So I prioritzed the other pieces for it. Dead DPS is no DPS, no matter how high your damage is, lol.

That's about what I was at on my DRG when I first beat it, it's more than enough to survive stomps.

Yeah, dont expect to see last phase in DF. Atleast I have yet to see it...

So, I'm really thinking.of picking.this up on PS3. How does it run/look? And is it possible to take part in endgame stuff llike titan using a controller? Really on the fence here.

Aside from the nice lighting, it looks like garbage (ie. aliasing, pop in, low fps, muddy textures, etc). Also, mobs/npcs and other characters are framed locked into single digits which is strange. Controller works very well though and I know some people active in the endgame content with it.

Funny. I don't know any healers who actually agree with that.

I think it looks nice (despite not having it), but only because of the colorization. If it was only 1 color it would be complete shit. Vanya(sp?) robe look so much better though.
Not like I'm gonna have one or the other any time soon.

LOL

I setup DF to join in progress for Amdapor Keep so I can raise my rank, and I joined like right when they won so I didn't have to do a single thing for the quest. Awesome.

Well, even by those numbers, you are talking about a 900 myth cost vs a 1320 myth cost. If anything it might be more prudent to go for relic+1 and af2 hands or feet, in about the time you would take you to get AF2 body and head.

Lots of angry people over confiscated gil.
Forgot just how intrusive the STF gets since XI.

They seriously don't give a flying fuck for collateral damage when removing any exploit they set their sights on. Played XI for 5 years but exploited Salvage once. Banned. Mention using Windower? Banned. Fishing boots and selling it? Banned.

@ bold: where?

Everyone KNEW not to mention using windower in game... :\

Yeah, that's the one.

Edit-- Trying to think of reasons we could have got different findings. Did you adjust the healing potency when you were plugging the numbers in from the sets?

Okay, the formula I used is the same as the final one posted on the "methodology" section of that site. That said, I did make an error which put my calculations off by a bit. I redid them, and this is what I came up with:

Code:
Thyrus + AF2 body + AF2 head
Spell Cure	Cure II
Base Value	876	1423
Crit Value	946	1537

Thyrus+1 + darklight body/head
Spell Cure	Cure II
Base Value	901	1465
Crit Value	961	1561

So with my error corrected, the difference isn't as stark as I'd stated previously. From here one would have to factor in the cost (900 tomestones for relic+1, 1320 for AF2 body+head) and additional benefits. I don't know how piety works at max level -- I was told it scales somewhat, but I haven't done any testing since early levels. That said, running out of MP at this point in the game isn't something that happens incredibly often, so it's less important to me. Vitality is always good, of course, and may tip the scale a bit further in the other direction for me. I'll have to think about it. I certainly don't have enough tomes to buy the AF2 body and head at the same time right now, so that'll also factor in. Getting a good upgrade now vs. getting what basically amounts to a sidegrade from buying AF2 body now and using the strategos coif for another 2 weeks before I can afford the AF2 circlet.

Getting tired of FXAA. Downsampling can't be done due to the lack of UI resizing options. Even if you use the third option or blow up the text, it's still not big enough for downsample. FFXIV 1.0 had MSAA which baffles me why it only has FXAA now.

As far as cool bows go, Garuda's is my personal favorite. It even has a little pop-up animation when you switch to battle stance. A friend picked up Titan's last night...and it makes him look like a giant walking can of Monster energy drink.

Isn't MSAA becomg an outdated feature? Disagree with lack of support maybe, but does it reeeaaallllyyy "baffle" you?

The new lighting engine (and lighting engines used by a lot of modern games) don't support that type of AA, which is why things like MLAA and FXAA were invented to begin with. I agree with you that FXAA sucks, though, and I wouldn't mind an alternative. I know someone in this thread managed to get a different type of AA going, but I can't find the post.
