you know what I don't get? why exactly is torchric being given out as an event when the game comes out? that makes no sense to me. I think it would've made more sense to have charmander since thats the one with two mega evolutions(which btw isnt cool, gamefreak shouldn't be playing favorites with the starters, either they all get two mega evos or they all get one imo.)

Because they wanted players to be able to choose from the Kanto starters, not the Hoenn starters.
And therefore Torchic isn't available in game, but they wanted him to get a mega evolution so they distribute him via wifi.

Because the real attraction here is that this Torchic has Speed Boost, which has actually always been a Pokemon where demand was much bigger than supply. Not the case for the other starters except Charmander, but they want players to choose from the 3 Kanto starters so yeah.
That and Blaziken's very popular.

It's likely the other two dont have mega evos at all (which would just be extra unfair) , or maybe blakizen is just way more popular. I'm hoping for the latter, but charizard already shows gamefreak isnt afraid to give more mega evos to one starter than the others.

Like i said earlier, playing favorites with starters isn't cool. they should all get equal treatment. If one of them isn't popular thats on them, instead of just ignoring it they should think of a way to improve it to increase its popularity
Its a popularity thing and its the same way with every Mega Pokemon.
Torchic is the popular one and basically one of the series mascots.

Eh I was "too old" to play Pokemon when the first one dropped and prefer Blaziken to Charizard. Then again I'm also a sucker for muay thai so makes sense.
I do think all previous gen starters should have megas though.

venusaur is probably the least popular starter out of the kanto region. instead of trying to improve its design all they do is add a flower to its head and call it a day. I'm sorry but thats just flat out lazy, theres no other way to put it. charizard on the other had gets the full works, and gets to evos to boot. :/

Yup. Chesnaught could have been, but he's just completely underwhelming. You can definitely see the theme they were going for with Delphox and Greninja. They fit their perspective roles perfectly, yet Chesnaught looks nothing like a knight imo. He looks more like a mummy wearing a turtle shell.
Wasn't there a rumor about X having growlithe? Was that ever confirmed? Haven't been following the thread anymore.
Unconfirmed. Last I saw people were saying X had Growlithe and Heracross and Y had Pinsir and Vulpix, leading people to theorise that all 4 were getting mega evolutions.
