huh? i said it goes from next level to very good, i even wrote "very good" how do you interpret this as "meh"?

Sorry, maybe meh wasn't the right word to use. Though, you still said that it goes from one hell of an awesome game to only a very good one because of the lack of 30 extra pokemon. That's just how I interpreted it.

so what? that's why we love it, that's why it's pokemon and not another game. nobody complains that Street Fighter 4 is basically the same as SF2. why change what makes the game awesome and fun? there's plenty of pokemon spinoffs.

I dunno. For me it just get's less and less exciting to go through virtually the same experience over and over

Start off as a young boy/girl. choose a starter pokemon between the default grass/water/fire types. Fight 8 gymleaders. Fight 4 elites + champion.

Have evil team xxxxxxx who want to hurt pokemon because reason xxxxx

Find pokemon by having them be random encounters in tall grass/caves

Aggro trainers by walking in front of them

etc etc.

As for the SF4 analogy. Street fighter is a series about having 2 fighters fight each other. There's not a lot you can do there to really advance that concept. And if someone doesn't like how sf4 plays. Then there's a plethora of other fighting games to choose from.

30+ additional new pokemon as paid DLC pack incoming
I think I would buy that

I think we all would haha. Hell, i'd buy 30 new pokemon for $5. I hope they do something like the Dream Radar again, though I don't think they'd put actual new Pokemon behind a paywall. Maybe more mega's, or new formes of other older Pokemon.

So guys, what's the consensus on the post game so far? I've read the reviews so I don't need any quotes from those; what have the leakers found?

What was so different about Gen V compared to the other gens? I mean the games are virtually all the same in terms of gameplay mechanics, story structure and how you actually move around the world. Biggest new thing in each game are really the pokemons.
The fact that I didn't like very many Pokemon admittedly is a big factor, but more than that...the game world just isn't interesting. The region is big, yes, but it's boring and there's pretty much nothing to do in it. There are no cool and unique areas, you travel in a linear circle around the map and there's practically no post game. They hyped up that big city before the games came out, but once I finally got there I was disappointed. It's empty and there's nothing (of worth) to do in it. Black2/White2 did fix a lot of these problems, but it doesn't change the fact that Gen V initially just didn't feel fresh.

I completely disagree about the Pokemon being the biggest thing. Obviously we need new Pokemon each gen to draw interest, but the coolest thing about Gen II was going back to Kanto afterwards. Gen III had the secret bases, Pokemon contests, and using Braille to discover the Regi's was fucking cool. Gen IV had online battling which was AMAZING, as well as the Physical/Special split. Gen V had...nothing new really, and that's why I didn't like it so much. Unova is my least favourite region.

Yeah, Gen VI doesn't have a lot of new Pokemon, but with the 3D battles the old guys feel new to me. I was initially against Mega Evolutions but now I've come around and am looking forward to seeing how it will affect the metagame. The region looks big, and fun to explore, it doesn't seem like it's very linear either. The online functionality looks amazing, we have trainer customisation finally, free movement...it feels like everything I've enjoyed about Pokemon finally put into one game. And, to be honest, less Pokemon is a good thing in my opinion, ESPECIALLY the small number of Legendaries. Xerneas/Yveltal/Zygarde are the best since Gen III, I really hope the tradition of having in excess of 10 legendaries per generation is behind us. They can just start giving old legendaries Mega Evolutions instead.

Beside a new Safari Zone based on Friend Codes, it seems like we're getting something similar to DP where its just a battle tower equivalent and light legendary hunting.

This route in 3D with heavy rain and this track with full orchestration playing, yes please just take my money now

I can see GameFreak charge any price below $15 for DLC and people will still eat it up.

Exactly. Not a lot you can do to advance the concept yet it still gets lauded for all of the tiny improvements that really only a dedicated fan base notices. Your problem with the game clearly is the structure. I guess i dont mind it because it is always set in a new region, with new pokes, and a new cast. Im sure the jump to 3d will make it feel even fresher for me.

Have you tried the other pokemon games in the series?

I've heard throughout the region there are places with special rules battles. I keep asking if anyone else has heard it hear but I don't get an confirmation or denial

I really really liked gen III and im very much looking forward to its remake. Got a lot of backlash for not including the old pokes (from me included) but it was a damn fine pokemon game. Prolly my fav after gen I.

If they do remake the game id hope theyd open up the regional dex a bit more.

Only cuz i didnt like all of the options the hoenn dex presented me with. Im even more excited for the remake because now that x and y are out, GF can really make a spectacular remake ala HG/SS.

Also i have a confession to make: gen II really isnt that great. I played through HG/SS for the nostalgia but couldnt make it through a second playthrough. Johto was just not an interesting region.

Don't get me wrong. Obviously the series has evolved over time as new features and gameplay mechanics have been added.

But when you look at how the game is played and unfolds. It's still pretty much the same as back in red and blue.

That's because it's its framework. That's like saying all Mario games are the same.

That route has a special place in my heart. It's the first thing I think about when someone mentions Ruby or Sapphire. One of the best routes in any Pokémon game. Captured my Tropius there and it felt great. The rain combined with the music is just so... perfect.

Hoenn will always be my favorite region.

Well according to that npc we should be seeing it again real soon. I look forward to that. Fuck is gen III becomin my fav gen?

So any leaks of songs? I'm curious how the music here is going to be. Also any clue on version differences ala B/W? We looking at anything that big, or is it mostly going to be the traditional pokemon differences?

I'm really looking forward to RSE remakes, Gen III was one of the generations I played the most yet I feel like I've barely used a lot of the Pokemon in the game such as Aggron, Walrein, Wailord, Banette, Metagross, Cradily, Armaldo etc.

Let's be realistic people. This is Nintendo, we will have Z in about 6 months followed by a remake and gen 7 by 2014.

This is a very ignorant post.

Most likely it will be:
Pokémon Z in 2014-2015
Pokémon RSE remakes in 2015-2016.

We won't see Gen 7 till 2017-2018.
