Pokemon X and Y Leaks, Releases Early

Yeah, I'm very likely to enjoy XY regardless, but new Pokemon are a big part of why I like Gen transitions, so I can't help but to have my hype feel deflated.

Same, which is why I was so disappointed that the numbering was so low.

They're holding back for the inevitable Pokémon Z release.

Yeah no, they don't do that for trading purposes.

30+ additional new pokemon as paid DLC pack incoming
I think I would buy that

Not going to happen and quite frankly is a rip off if they do that.

Some things I want to see in a R/S/E remake:

- I want the old player character to be a "secret trainer" in the game, much like Red in Gold and Silver. NPC's mention him now and then, and you can face him somewhere after the E4. Lvl 70 Pokémon or higher. (Possibly with a Groudon or Kyogre depending on your version.)

- Mystery bases are still there, but get expanded with wi-fi functionality (easy access friends list like the current PSS system and all)

- The world is still the same, but time has moved on. E4 has undergone changes and there are new gym leaders as well (maybe add a dark gym leader and make up a story why the gym changed to that type? Then again, the old E4 already had a dark type member). I basically want a remake where we play a new guy who has moved to Hoenn a few years after the original player character.

- As I mentioned above, time has moved on so we would need a new story. Not that these games are story heavy, but all of this is happening years after team magma/aqua almost destroyed the world with kyogre/groudon so we'd need some new events besides the gym leaders and E4.
That would make them sequels, not remakes. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, because I would actually prefer a Ruby 2 and Sapphire 2. On top of all that add new areas, Pokemon from Gens IV, V and VI and also make new forms for Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, maybe Mega Evolutions.

I am kinda disappointed that the only 70 new Pokémon rumour turned out to be true, ugh why did Game Freak think that Mega Evolution counted as a new Pokémon when they clearly don't.

Maybe it's the other way around? They added Mega Evolution because there wouldn't be many new Pokemon?

Some Mega evolutions are basically new Pokemons design-wise, but many are just extra details on top of pre-existing Pokemon, changing things much less than real evolutions. That might mean they took less time to be designed and implemented than real evolutions would in some cases at least. And the number of Megas doesn't even seem to be that high at this point. Even if we added them, it seems like we'd still end up in the lower side this generation.

Found this in /vp/. It's so cute

It was still platforming, going from point a to point b.

By that logic, Pokemon made a huge change. You can't do shit that you do in Gen 1 (lol critslash, hyper beam spam, etc.) in Gen 5. Types changing. etc.

If those are simply "minor" changes, then Street Fighter 1 to 4 didn't change at all.
To be fair Street Fighter 1 was a completely different kind of game from the rest of the games. But abilities and the Special/Physical split alone make the games play VERY different. I however would not be against them changing up the over world, maybe make it more "Open World" like.

Like I said, that's like saying Mario should change from platforming to something.

I have not once said they should make the pokemon games not rpgs. Them being an rpg is what makes them great.

But imagine if you never got mario 64, mario sunshine, mario galaxy. And instead got a string of super mario bros 3 games ( an amazing game at it's time like the original pokemon games). Just with different levels, power ups, enemies and slightly improving 2d graphics for each of those games.

Great ideas but not for a remake.

Or if it is locked dlc like Capcom and Namco does it.

200 new pokemon on the cart, 130 locked behind a paywall.

Gotta throw your "cashball" at it to even have a chance at catching it but most of the paid pokes only have a 15% catch rate. Can buy great "cashballs" to up your catch rate to about 30%.

But simply changing power ups =/= changing the inner workings of the game.

Like I said, the more apt comparison is fighting games, like say Street Fighter.

Hadoukens are like broken hyper beams

Yes... now you mention it, they would be sequels instead of remakes.

I really want to play R/S/E game where time has moved on. The old areas and music (although different with 3D) give you the nostalgia you need, but the new story and trainers also make you wonder what has happened to your old character and Team Magma/Aqua etc

Man thinking back I was really disappointed with Ruby and Sapphire, but not because I disliked the Pojemon or the Region, it was mostly because coming from Crystal I was 100% sure I could go back to the other regions, learning you couldn't do it made me super mad.

I want to travel Region and want to battle the old trainer legends of the regions like Red

Better than horse armor. Would support!

I was hoping this would be a thing in X/Y, not all regions but just one of the older ones. Maybe it just hasn't been discovered yet!

Didn't someone say there was something in the game that kind of confirmed a Hoenn remake? Did anyone post about it??

Nothing that confirms it, but an NPC says something that is about as blatant as a hint can get.
I want a RS2 where Team Magma won.
At first I was like, "Why?"
Then I realized this is a water route joke.
Honestly that is one thing they could really improve in remakes/sequels for Hoen, make the surfing speed faster.

Guys, I just realized something. Since you all love R/S/E so much, you should remember how you find and obtain the Regis?

Remember the braille?

and these guys?

I have a theory. The game is finally back to the way it is supposed to be. Totally disregarding the fact that the game isn't even out yet and many many people haven't even began to rub their boners on the surface of the fun, there could and may very well be a lot of hidden secret shit in there, you know? And now Nintendo finally has a system where they can keep that secret shit a secret.

And I think it is all the better for it. You can play the game like you did in the old days, where you would be the guy who found this cheat code first, or this hidden item.

How flattering Theo! Your first post has enough rage over nothing though so mad props!

I've never even played the game or series and you think I'm offended? So it can't be that it was stupid and lacking of humor to begin with? Aww, that's so stupid its almost cute. I think I actually will go grab some popcorn if you're going to keep this up.

an npc says something along the lines of "i'm from hoenn, it's nice there but you will see for yourself soon".

Well shit. So Hoenn is post game confirmed, Nintendo just hasnt unlocked it yet, will be unlocked via a patch on launch. Just you wait.

I don't remember the broken image.

Classic sats.

Going to stick to strictly new Pokemon on the first playthrough. Might have something like this:

Greninja
Heliolisk
Talonflame
Pangoro
Aegislash
Tyrantrum

I was thinking of using Goodra but it evolves way too late for my liking, even with the higher levels of the Elite 4/Champion in this game. Might use one postgame. If I get the other version later on, I'll probably start with Chespin and use a mix of new and old Pokemon.

I also never got the problem people had with the water in Hoenn? Was it that there was just too much and it was visually unappealing? The encounter excuse sounds kind of weak because caves are exactly the same and Repels aren't exactly expensive.

Im hoping next gen new PKMNs are just evos of past PKMN set in every region. It would be so good.

No, no it wouldn't. I'm not one of the people in a huff over only 70 new ones but each game needs to have a class all its own. Just evos of old mons would feel stale.

I was hoping this would be a thing in X/Y, not all regions but just one of the older ones.

Maybe not full regions, but I think it'd be nice if there were a post-game that involved going in a worldwide tour through specific cities/locations of other regions.

I'd rather PokeGOD have 70 new Pokemon in 3D flawlessness than a SMTIV type mess of 2D sprite SNES grfx.

That comparison is completely inappropriate considering how most of SMT IV's demons weren't new or redesigned either (only around 35, not counting demons obtainable through DLC content). The 2d graphics for battles likely came due to it being a lower budget game than Pokemon, not due to any attempt to add too many new creatures. Still, the 3d exploration parts look better than X/Y...

You could always play like that, if you wanted too.

Next, do not act like people will not have these game competently excavated in like a day.

(snip)

I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't trust any of these leakers so far to work out something like opening the paths to the RSE Trio. I wouldn't be surprised by a couple more hidden pokes.

I see lies. The map traversal is putrid filth. Especially the character turning into a game of life pin traversing the map.

Perhaps. Hopefully.

Also, "rub their boners on the surface of the fun"? :lol

I'm assuming he is just being hopeful from the mentions of Hoenn in the game.

Well, I don't doubt that. I was more speaking to the fact that we've only got like...3 leakers for us? So, it is very unlikely that they will know the game backwards and front.

At first I was like, "Why?"

I actually didn't mind the water routes themselves, although surf could have been faster.

I really hated the pokémon battles while surfing though. Goddamn that was annoying. It's like caves, but even worse. Give me an optional device while surfing that makes water pokémon ignore me or something. Something that I can toggle on or off, I don't want to buy a hundred repels.

My goodness. The appeal of Pokemon and SMT are completely different. Don't be an *** and to make one out as better than the other.

SMT is challenge, narrative, and choice driven

Pokemon is collection, competitively, and casually driven

Creature collection and rock paper scissors gameplay means little as similarities
Said all this without even playing the game. Over a "dry" joke. Yeah "I'm" mad.

We are done having this conversation SirMam. Go play SMT4 we all make mistakes and have judgemental egos it's okay. SMT4 ain't even that hard don't be a puss.

The games have been leaked for nearly a week now and it's taken a fucking age for them to reveal everything, and they still haven't revealed everything. In specific instances like that, the Relicanth & Wailord thing, how on earth would someone with no prior knowledge know how to do that kind of thing?

I am actually perfectly fine with X, Y, and Z being the only legendaries.

There doesn't need to be a secondary trio every gen, or a standalone legendary aside from the boxart 2 and it's master. I think it sort of misses the point of "legendary" if they keep adding so mnay of them, but that's just me.

That said considering global release and previous game patterns I do think it is likely there are more in the game that haven't been found yet.
