Boehner: Nation on the path to default if Obama doesn't give concessions for ACA

This is the first time that the government has completely fucking infuriated me. I'm talking rage. The GOP is doing actually sabotaging the economy, when at fucking last it was showing some signs of recovery.
Whatever they do it'll end up being put on Obama. "It happened on his watch", "he was too weak to stop it", or "he was unwilling to compromise". Take your pick.

If there is anything the party of personal responsibility knows, its how to avoid accountability and shift the blame.

Its maddening.

I'm pretty sure democrats have some districts that are Gerrymandered to all hell too. Though to be honest I can't tell you which states since I haven't checked. Maybe California? Or is that state completely blue when it comes to districts.

No, democrats also do it. Gerrymandering as a whole is bad.

California has a lot of red districts in it. But the large cities all vote blue, and they count for more of the vote.

CA has a non-partisan redistricting committee.

Honestly, Boehner is taking a pretty tough stance here. He flat out said if Obama doesn't give into what they want despite the fact Dems already have, the default will occur. He is basically putting this all on the President by acting like default is out of his hands when it is not.

Yes. The longer this goes on, the more the public will blame Obama and the Democrats. Its absolutely a brilliant move just in time for the midterm elections next year. The GOP has a very good chance of winning the Senate and gaining House seats.

Just because there is a difference doesn't mean they're not both fucking terrible.
One is actively trying to kill the country. The other isn't.
I'd definitely say one is terrible and the other just needs a backbone (which they seem to have now).

lol that's the worst move possible. People will blame the GOP more and it will actually be fresh in Americans fickle minds if this drags on and on.

It's not nice to freak out Diablos.

Depends on the people. Nobody knows how a long shutdown will play out. Republicans have no reason to compromise, Obama just won 17 of the house repub districts in 2012.

This shutdown won't last any more than two weeks. It's a done deal.

This is only because the media is letting him get away with it. He said there are no votes for a clean CR this morning and Stephanopolous didn't debunk that or ask him to prove it by bringing the bill to the floor. That seems like the obvious response from a good jounalist but it never happened....

They're both Wall Street puppets, one just went nuts and will probably implode. Doesn't mean the other is a rational option.

While I dislike what they are doing, the Republicans spearheading this are following the wishes of their constituents ... Calling them terrorists is way over the line, imho.

We've already cut spending by a massive amount. We don't need to do so, anymore. At this point, the cuts in spending are endangering GDP growth.

I wish I could be happy about democrats having complete power over US politics from 2014-2064 but lately they seem as bad as the old GOP... :(

RIP America

They're still people. They could choose not to destroy the country. They didn't. They're just as much to blame as the people telling them to do it.

Then they should stop the funding for their districts only, not the whole US government.

They are economic terrorists plain and simple.

imho.

Really? So if the constituents want to bring back slavery and the politicians representing them push for it we shoudnt call them racist bigots? Also you do realize that there are many GOP House members that support a clean resolution but Boehner wont bring it to the floor, right?

Isn't Wall Street going crazy right now because the shutdown has made the market extreme hectic? If anything both parties are doing what wall street doesn't want right now.

How is it over the line? What they are doing is the definition of terrorism. They are committing economic terrorism to further their political agenda. Deliberately shutting down the government unless people give in to their demands. Honestly I don't see how this could be any more clear cut.

Most people are for the ACA, even Republicans. However when its phrased Obamacare, it's automatically derided

This obstructionism is not from the grassroot GOP voters against Obamacare, but from the monied interest in the Repubican party.

Major legislation is not longer driven by grassroots interests, but by monied interest.

Rational, in this case, is relative; and the Dems are very rational at the moment - they are not actively trying to ruin the country.

Although it is kind of inflammatory language, consider that they are kind of using the same tactics of fear and hostage-taking to get their way. They may not be killing people, but if the US were to default, that would affect the entire world, not just us.

The constituents actually supporting a government shutdown over this are very much in the minority. The fact that it's the wishes of those constituents and nobody else's that are being respected means there's something seriously wrong with this process.

The ultra right party is just protecting its corporate overlords from health care costs and its HMO overlords from being "forced" not to scam people.

Smh. The complete and utter ignorance is amazing. So you're against all insurance, right? No auto, no renters insurance. It's all a scam. Right?

We just need a loose definition of violence.

At this point, if you cave, what's to keep the Republicans from doing it again?

You're going to have to show a spine at some point- I think this is the point where Dems have decided to make their stand no matter what happens. It's also the time where they'll suffer the least amount of damage politically.

Their constituents are drones. The politicians don't follow their constituents, their constituents follow their politicians (and Fox News).

Congrats, Republicans. You surpassed everyone's expectations about just how far you're willing to go to get what you want.

Bunch of whiny, petulant fucking sore losers.
