Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Never had any stutters or pauses like that. You playing a digital copy or a physical copy?

Melee is a piece of cake to me. I like the way it's done.

I'm playing a retail copy. I was amazed at how much it was locking up, maybe it goes away for the other missions but I haven't played it again yet....partially because I'm afraid of that issue continuing. As I said it's really distracting.

3rd game is referenced in 4th but they're pretty standalone
Ah cool, maybe sometime i grab the other 2 games from the psn, altough they are quiet expensive. On EU psn you get P2 and P3P bundled for 50 €and when you buy them separate: 30€ each.

Maybe there comes the day, when they are on a sale

Whoa! What is this!?

DLC for soul sacrifice, you can watch the old stream with new bosses here: http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv152435910

DLC for Soul Sac I believe.

Toukiden needs to hurry up and come to the west.

I like Toukiden a lot but the game music is so boring.

Yes. It's short (4-5 hours) but it's a lot of fun and there's a pretty decent amount of replayability.

It's actually not that short. The if you die the game doesn't record the time played. So, yeah, most people beat it in 4 to 5 hours... but if you add in all of the times you die, or had to turn off halfway through a level, or whatever, it's actually a pretty decent length. I died quite a bit... i bet it actually took me 8 hours of actual time to beat it.

I have a digital copy, and had the same issue. As you mentioned earlier it seems occurs whenever text appears for an objective update. Now I'm not sure if it wasn't as bad later on. or I just got used to it, but I don't really remember it from the later missions. I never really had it interfere with the gameplay either.
Thought I'd just ask one last time: anyone use the Hori trigger grips?
I've had them for 5 or so months now, very happy with it. It makes the Vita very comfortable to hold. Only problem is that the slidable handles are a little loose, sometimes they would slide up when pressing one of the shoulder too hard. I'll have to see if there's a way to tighten them

Every single top 8 time on time on every level's leaderboard in Stealth Inc is 9:31 now. Mofos glitched the shit out of it. That really sucks my legit times on almost every level were pretty bonkers, was looking forward to seeing if any were still #1 or top 8.

Spelunky is one of those games where I can spend a good 2 or 3 hours and leave wondering what the hell I was doing eating up my Sunday like that. There is absolutely no sign of progress to show for those hours, expect a higher death count @_@.
You can't measure experience!

How was Malicious Rebirth's original release on the PS3?

Suffered from a bit of framerate issues when the game got cluttered, definitely not a locked 30fps -- otherwise, it was a bit of Dynasty Warriors meets Megaman with a bit of a boss-hunt game in the mix.

Here's the trailer for Rebirth:

Looks kinda slowdown filled to me... :\

Here's a stage from the PS3 game that should give you an idea:

If they reduced the number of enemies it would have done wonders for the framterate.

Beyond is actually fun to play.

Does Killzone merc have a good sp campaign?

I really like it.

The campaign, that is.

Did the first mission in Killzone. I was somewhat impressed by the level design, I went off the path it was telling me to go a few times and found certain things like friendlies held captive. I'm assuming those will be contracts later on but at least I still got paid for doing it on my own.

What I'm not impressed with is the frequent stutters in the game. I don't know if it happens every time a message comes on the screen but it locks up for a good half second and it does it a LOT. Really screws up the fluidity of the game and my concentration since it sometimes happens when I'm trying to line a shot up. The cover system is trash too since you're still very much exposed but your mobility and chance to escape damage is limited when crouched/in cover. The melee swipe system is pretty rough too. It's nowhere near as unresponsive as Uncharted GA but it doesn't seem to leave you very much time to read the move and then do it.

The graphics were ok but I was left fairly unimpressed. I don't want to lower my standards and say it's nice "for a handheld game" but at the same time it seemed like it was somewhere in between Killzone 1 and 2 in graphics. Could have just been that particular level that looked kind of rough though.

The first stage/mission is actually the least impressive and quite ugly, compared to the subsequent missions.

I was actually mildly disappointed by the visuals, when I first booted up the game. Then by the end of mission 2 and into 3, my jaw remained stuck to the floor.

Kyle did an impression video

Please note that this was almost a year ago.... damn it SCEA...

Looked reasonably smooth in that footage... I dunno... do we know the price range?

Also, that dude needs a capture vita badly.

It seems to go on sale every other month.

More like it went on sale for $19.99 and I don't know if it ever went back up to $29.99, but now it's at $14.99.
Will it stay there or go back on Tuesday? What price will it return to? We don't really know.

In short, if you have an interest in the game, pony up the $15 and cop it already. :P

Isn't Jeanne d'Arc avaiable in the european psn store anymore ? I'm pretty sure I saw it there some time ago but can't find it right now using the pc store.
It's definitely not, and has never been, available digitally on the EU PSN store. I'm not sure it released in Europe at all (I have it, but it's a US physical copy).

Oh man. Hype. I want this. Both .But I need to wait until Delta. I don't want to spend 30 euros in the same month for the same game twice.

I like Toukiden a lot but the game music is so boring.

Everyone says Tales of has a boring music, and I didn't care (though the fact I don't remember any song proves it) so I won't have a problem with this.

Everything I've seen leads me to believe it's free. They did mention on FB that the beta is basically just the tutorial. Sounds more like an early demo. Still pumped, though.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I haven't played that kind in years, I'm gonna need a tutorial xD

I'll prob bite since I have $11 on PSN and I can just throw $5 in for it. I think i've been holding off on getting it since I've been trying to finish up Killzone single player before moving onto anything else.

Does anyone know if EDF Portable goes back up in price this tuesday? I'm still 50/50 about getting it.

US PSN sales on any title usually lasts one week, so you've got until Monday evening at the earliest to grab it.
Just get it, it's a fun shooter to play and slaughter giant bugs in for a good 15-30 minutes, a 'take a break game' if you will.
Plus @$15, you're $35 away from getting $10 back come November~

true... I'll bite. I've been itching for quirky strange japanese fun that modern gaming seems to lack more and more :(

Been looking at sales charts and large merchant sites such as Amazon and Gamestop and it seems Killzone Mercenary is a Bomba. Multiplayer seems to healthy enough, but I doubt the game is getting the sort of numbers Sony wanted. Of course there is also the digital sales, but the Mercenary doesn't appear to be doing all that well on the retail side of things.

Maybe the less than perfect critic scores had a factor in sales? Or perhaps everyone is too busy playing GTA V to care, maybe Killzone is losing its appeal. Either way, Vita is not poised to have a phenomenal holiday season in terms of sales, unfortunately.

They need to start marketing the Vita. They have Invizimals and Tearaway for kids and Killzone (and Batman to some degree) for young adults. At least, they could market Mercenaries with Shadow Fall.

Still, I want to see more adds in TV. Last year with CoD, FIFA and AssCreed you could see lots of ads. They weren't as awesome as the penguin's one, though.

I'm sorry to say, but Tearaway will be a huge flop. Killzone at least had the benefit of a multimillion selling brand, and about a year's worth of PR -- and it's still not doing so well. Tearaway is just completely underneath the radar at this point. Perhaps it will be packaged with a Vita for a holiday bundle. Otherwise, unless it receives absolutely rave reviews, I just can't see it selling more than a 150k copies.

Invizimals? What's that and when did it get announced?

Is a pretty good AR game. The IP has three games in the PSP and it's sales were pretty good (the first came bundled with the camera, so it did good numbers despite piracy. The others flop because of the same reasons).

I think SCEA only published the first game in USA.

This year they are going to release a PS3 game (that doesn't look so good) and a PSV game (that looks awesome, especially for kids)

Sony is gonna air a TV series this year. Or at least that's what they say. But nothing has been said in the last few months, so maybe it has been pushed to 2014.

Still, I'll be one of the 5 people that will buy and love it in Spain... is that what a Dreamcast fan used to feel? xD

Playing through New Little King's Story and I've been hooked on it but man the Framerate can really go to shit. I just finished climbing that mountain section and that was just a real slog. smh.

I might buy EDF Portable or P4G, but I sorta want to wait and see if SCEA does a Halloween sale and add cheap vita/psp games on there.

I started up Metal Gear Solid (PSOne classic) on the VIta yesterday, but with all the cutscenes I noticed that the Vita screen dimmed after a while and at one point it simply went into sleep mode at the end of a cutscene instead of loading the next bit of gameplay.

Has that happened to anyone else? How would I stop that from happening?

Additionally, how is the quality of the MGS2&3 HD versions on the Vita? Worth a buy?

Try pressing button or touch front or back of vita so it registers some kind of input.

can someone told me about Tokyo New World Record: Operation Abyss

here's some artwork, never heard about this before. who make it etc, I assume it's dungeon crawler game from the screens, chances of localization? I like the art

It's from kadokawa and experience, they have already made 1 or 2 very similar games on vita, IIRC at least on of those should be localized.

is it good?

Honestly i don't know, but their games seem to be appreciated.
Here some gameplay from labyrinth cross blood infinity for vita, it's almost the same game lol

EDIT:
some more infos:
http://www.siliconera.com/2013/10/0...ord-operation-abyss-new-vita-drpg-experience/

It's the sequel of labyrinth cross blood infinity and it has the rise and drop system, the more you fight the stronger the enemies the better the loots.

EDIT 2:
oh wait demon gaze(that will be localized) is from experience too, for some reason i forgot it!
