I think the appeal of Hoenn is that the locations were really beautiful. They were places that you could imagine could look more beautiful and amazing with better graphics. Just look at the towns

Mossdeep. Imagine the Space Center with a awesome to scale rocket and everything

Fortree City with really nice looking foliage and looking like actually wooden houses

The abandoned ship with fog and tons of things flashing out of view like the ghost house in B/W

Slateport with a bustling market. Think the Join Avenue from B/W2 but with the new graphics engine and even more things going on

And a 3D Trick House

Kanto is the shit what's wrong with you people

I don't even remember the map from gen 4 and I played those games for over 300 hours

So according to that "What ISN'T here" list, every pseudo-legendary family other than Gen 1 is available to be caught in XY prior to postgame?

I wonder if Nintendo FORCES GF to make more games? I was banking on HS/SS being the last games. THAT would have been going out with a fucktastic bang.

3rd gen was weird, it was the lowest point in the series to many, but its also when the fanbase started devolving into almost Sonic levels of awful. Yet people cry for remakes for some reason, is it a vocal minority?

I guess when a franchise is reaching the danger zone (within context - yeah RSE sold well but I think it wasn't to expectations) you start collecting more fanatics. Im actually interested in studying this fir franchises. Do fanbases get worse as the quality of games go down?

Uh NOPE, just been scrolling quickly through the thread for pictures.

confirmed-ish?? What are they and why do we believe they exist without photo proof?
Someone on /v[/ claims that each member of the Elite 4 has a Pokémon that mega-evolves. All we've seen, though, is Mega Gyarados (presumably the Water trainer's Pokémon?) and Mega Gardevoir (the Champion's). If this rumor is true, the other E4 members would probably have a Mega Scizor, Mega Druddigon and Mega Chandelure.

So yeah, hardly anything concrete. I think I saw one person suggest this only happens on rematch. However, the leaker who is the farthest has apparently stopped leaking. And the other leaker (Josh??) hasn't reached the E4 yet, apparently.

If someone can double-check this, it'd be appreciated. It's what I cobbled together from skimming this thread and others.

Most of those are over the top for the sake of being over the top, and they muddle together in the end with their lack of making sense. Not to mention, the place was just annoying with its excess of water.

Okay then, take your boring, dumb dirt paths and generic towns and enjoy finding favor in mediocre locations I guess.

Just like this post proves (as well as every other post of yours in this topic), Gen l/ll fans are usually the worst by a large degree. So I guess that dispells that whole illogical assumption.

RSE was excellent. They made the Dark and Steel types meaningful by boosting their numbers significantly, they did similar favors for Ghost and Dragon, and they had overall one of the biggest, most diverse, and most colorful selections of new Pokémon since the original, second only to Unova in Gen V. They also add special abilities, added Double Battles and a variety of other features that changed the series forever.

And the map was very clever, from ashen fallout zones on the slopes of a volcano, to cities in the trees and floating on rafts, to a route of perpetual rain. RSE also had the best legendary trio from a lore standpoint, and the whole apocalyptic "Great Flood vs. Great Drought" angle made for a compelling "threat" posed by the competing enemy teams.

Objectively, RSE had plenty going for it. It was by no means a "bad game" or a dip in quality. That's nonsense that makes you sound like a fanatic blinded by nostalgia. RSE added more new Pokémon than GSC, it featured a more robust and complex map, and it vastly expanded the meta-game. GSC may have added new types, but had hardly any Pokémon to utilize them, and other types went neglected altogether. RSE fixed all of that and pushed the series to new heights of competitiveness.

No, imagine a game like this.

You finish one Region with your full leveled team ( after elite 4 around 60ish)
Then some post game in this Region, now the postgame story drives you into the next Region, fighting agaisnt those postgame enemies you will used your "champion team". but a Professor will tell you in these Region are even more Gyms and Pokemon, you get a second roster of team, the rookie team.

You will fight through the Gym's with your rookie team, after you obtained the 8th badge you can mix teams, throughout the new Region there are several Trainers in the wild who will differ which team they will use. Rinse and repeat for new Regions.

Edit: Also everybody who said Sinnoh was a good region is wrong.

Guys? :( Feedback? Could this work?

Ruby/Sapphire are the worst selling main Pokemon titles, and were disliked by many at the time due to missing features from G/S, like no second region, no transfers with previous games, no day/night cycle...

They still sold millions though, of course, so the "minority" that liked them and want a remake is actually probably quite large, and they are also probably quite loud due to how much that generation was (and still is) vilified.

How about a remake where you do Hoenn and then Sinnoh, or bounce back and forth between one and the other. They're both based on "Asia," on a different side of the globe from Unova, so if you were to do a dual region, Hoenn and Sinnoh would be one possible pairing.

I'm convinced that the bolded is why generation three gets most of the hate it does. No day/night cycle was hella weird too.

Seeing as neither were as succesful as Gen I/II, maybe that could work. But again, GF would prefer double the dolla. And it's way too soon for a Sinnoh remake.

It's junior season.

I played the living heck out of gen's 1-3 and gen 3 is still my favourite. Doesn't mean it's the best, but it's my favourite.

Damn i wouldn't go this far

Yeah I'm sure Game Freak detest the forced millions of dollars Pokemon makes upon every successive release.

So, do we already know which version is "superior" ? I preordered Y as a joke between friends ("Hey Y chromosome > X chromosome") without knowing anything about the game but I'm tempted to get X instead, if only for the legendary fairy type and better typed Mega Mewtwo :/.

Yes, I remember the hate for no day/night cycle back then. I also think that one of the reasons why RSE didn't sell as well as RBY/GSC was because of the different hardware. Even those with brick Game Boys could play GS. I also think that many of the core demographic from the first two games had grown out of the series by the time RSE released - or perhaps that was just my friends.

Still, RSE are my favorite games in the series. I love the atmosphere, the locations and the Pokémon. I remember seeing my own reflecting in a lake very early on and was amazed at the jump from GSC to RSE. Very impressive.

Greninja is basically Sceptile statwise. Those are decent stats though.

So do know for sure if a pokemon isnt listed in a dex and we transfer it in with pokebank it will actually accept the trade? Like for example dratini isnt in the dex. I play Black and send a dratini from there to the pokebank, can I download that dratini into xy and it'll be fully 3d modeled and everything?

Mega Charizard X, nuff said.

No day/night cycle was the biggest possible disappointment for me as a kid and I blame that as the reason I used to think of gen III as the worst one. I still played the heck out of it though, and I'd be on board for a remake (as long as the day/night cycle stays!)

It sounds awesome, but it also sounds like a kid's wishlist of the perfect Pokemon game. Way too much effort and content for a single release.

Anyway, I'm starting to think I'll really be ok with the post-game in X/Y from what we've seen so far. It sucks about the lack of rematches (specially because of how easy it seems to me that it would be to add them to the game from a dev. standpoint), but I'm guessing if the online infrastructure is as good as the reviews describe, I'm not going to miss them too much. That, and the hints for story-related postgame events that seem to be hinted at from various NPCs make me hopeful that we haven't seen everything yet.

Yup. Literally all pokemon have 3d model.

Yuck at those defenses. I hope he's got a decent moveset for a Choice Specs build. He's faster than Starmie so I imagine he could be beastly in the lower tiers.

No rematches? No random trainer rematches or no gym leader rematches?
