Looking at videos and pictures of Pokemon Amie made me think of a cool idea of how GF could really mix up how Pokemon is played..

Maybe next generation (or with Z version), they could add a "Randomizer/Pokemon's choice" function. Instead of your Pokemon evolving based on set determinants (Like level up, ), some of them would evolve based on a combination of their "personality", how well you treat them, and their happiness overall . It'd be a neat idea in my opinion and somewhat logical, since not every animal in real life is the same and they have their own personality quirks. It'd also be pretty faithful to the anime, as there are some Pokemon in the show that don't want to evolve (Pikachu, Dawn's Piplup), while there are some that are very eager to evolve (Iris's Axew).

I don't think every single Pokemon should be subjected to this, but make it random instead so that maybe at least one or two Pokemon on your team have a quirk like this. I think it would go a long way to making you actually care more about the little bastard's you're raising and mix up things where it's usually been the same since the begining. Also, it would be completely optional so it wouldn't really affect anyone who didn't want to use it.

What do you guys think about that?

Its a pretty good idea. Honestly it's things like this that I'd like to see in the new pokemon games. I'm not the most hardcore fan, so for me I want something a little different. I understand people who would nay say this idea, but theres so much potential with pokemon thats just not being met.

huh. so is there any reason we have to wait till december for an sort of transferring? dammit GF

Before Gamefreak said that they were looking for a way to get transfering to work so they probably just came up with the Bank idea recently and need time to actually create it.

Or they wanted people to play and finish the game before starting to transfer.

1. So lame players won't just import their whole team from the first chance they get and actually try and use new pokemon

2. To iron out the kinks and make sure it isn't slow or crash at the start. That's much easier to know when the game has been released for some time and they have some measure of the number of players

2 is probably the primary reason

I doubt it's a recent idea. Something like that is a fairly large infrastructure project. It isn't something created on a whim

They could have totally done something similar to the French Revolution...overthrow everyone not related to a Pokémon-based economy, I guess? Would have made for a cool story.

I'd love to see Hoenn remade in 3D, and expanded with a new chain of islands containing Pokémon from other regions. Slap a Mega Groudon and Mega Kyogre on the cover. BAM! Radiant Ruby and Sparkling Sapphire.

everything minus the names is spot on.

gleaming ruby and shining sapphire are far superior

So have we not heard any music yet? Kind of surprised nothing's been uploaded. Very curious to hear Team Flare's battle theme.

Was Hoenn the game that had Team Aqua and Team Magma, if so Aqua Sapphire and Magma Ruby.

Considering how Black and White had some very noticeable Zelda and Earthbound influences to its music, I'm very interested in X and Y's soundtracks.

Volcano Ruby and Tsunami Sapphire?

edit: Ah nevermind, I see Caladrious said Volcano Ruby as well. :)

Meh, can't think of anything good for Ruby.

I'm planning on getting Pokemon Y from the eShop...and now I'm starting to get worried about my save file. There's no way to back it up, right? If I ever replace my system can I get the save file moved to the new one? What if my SD card becomes corrupted?

Nope. Apparently, the save file is tied to your system ID to prevent duping.

I'm pretty sure save files are saved to the SD card anyway so...whether you get the physical or digital version it'll be the same with regards to them

Pretty sure it's the game data not the save file, although for online games there is some weird part of it that's tied to the system that you have to redo

so far im thinking my team will be:

Delphox
Aegislash
Noivern
Pangoro
Gogoat
Clawitzer

sadly ill probably need to do some trading with friends or on here to get a clawitzer as ill be picking up Y

The 3DS actually does have save backup features now. I've never actually used them so I couldn't tell you how it works, but they exist.

So according to that "What ISN'T here" list, every pseudo-legendary family other than Gen 1 is available to be caught in XY prior to postgame?
I believe that's the case with all but possibly Hydreigon.
It didn't show up on the Mountain Dex until after the National Dex was opened.

Wait, where's the confirmation about articuno?
The leakers haven't talked much about the legendary birds that are roaming.
Some have said they're all doing it.
Kanpachi said that he only saw Zapdos and assumed the others were out there.
Some people are theorizing that you get a different bird based on which starter you choose at the beginning.

I'm not really going to take any of this as gospel until they show up on a regional Dex somewhere.

Why does everyone think the RS remakes need to be alliterative? The only one like that we've ever had was Soul Silver. If anything I think that Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue would be more realistic.

Also Hoenn > HGSS-era Johto > Unova > Kanto > Sinnoh

How do we know other pokemon aren't roaming as well? In fact, how would anyone know what pokemon are roaming unless they're explicitly told or they happen to run into one? We only knew before from hackers...

Looked beautiful but that random pokemon selection was ATROCIOUS. There was just nothing worth catching

Ruby/Sapphire are the worst selling main Pokemon titles, and were disliked by many at the time due to missing features from G/S, like no second region, no transfers with previous games, no day/night cycle...

They still sold millions though, of course, so the "minority" that liked them and want a remake is actually probably quite large, and they are also probably quite loud due to how much that generation was (and still is) vilified.

This was actually my point, it had nothing to do with my personal opinion. I'm not "blinded by nostalgia" as people like to point out to people who are critical.

One factor people seem to leave out though is that pokemon get different designers every gen EXCEPT gen 1 and 2. You can see that the newer designers were not born with the talent and are just applying what Im assuming they learned in school. GF had the right idea, but they failed to create some kind of foundation or guideline to creating monsters. If you study the designs of earlier gens, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the vanilluxe line besides it being an ice cream shaped, snow and ice monster.

But here are some of the things the newer designers do that stand out to me.

-Very basic shapes form the monsters.
-Minimal details in muscular structure on more formed monsters.
-Odd or abstract color combinations.
-Being very loosely based on an animal with some designs while being heavily based on animals in other situations within the same gen - which is inconsistent in design.
- Relying heavily on a concept itself rather than implementing it into the monster. As in the monster precedes the concept, it should be vice versa really.
- You can see the effects of good concept but poor execution on some monsters. Im thinking of a concept now that would have made the barnacle evolution a bit more appealing as I write this.

For example, I love Rotom, and him and his forms were handled excellently. The litwick line is an example of not meeting up to expectations from past mons doing something similar, but better. They made a lamp ghost by putting eyes on it and making it move. vs a monster that possesses its items. And the design is worsened by the fact that all that was done was adding to yellow circles for eyes. A better concept would surely have been giving life and a face to the flames within the objects themselves. Its simple things like these that separate a good design from a bad one.

I saw this in university, you need a good mix of born talent and basic design foundations, but design and being an artist are not one in the same. Some designers suck at drawing and some artist suck at design. I was more in the later camp until I started learning how to mix both. Ultimately I found out that you cant really get good feedback from people who aren't artist or designers. Constantly making concepts truly is key. They need several people designing concepts for one monster if thats what it takes.

Hoenn > Kanto > Sinnoh > Johto > Unova

This is factually incorrect if you're counting Version 2's changes to Unova.

It's still wrong because Kanto is ranked so highly.

I'm pretty sure save files are saved to the SD card anyway so...whether you get the physical or digital version it'll be the same with regards to them

Unless it's something specific with Pokemon, no other game on the 3DS does this. Only extra data and DLC is saved to the SD card for physical copies, any other save files are saved to the cart's flash memory.

What I mean is, whenever you save, the game saves a hash/ID number of your save file onto the system. So it won't load if you back it up on an SD card.

I've heard saves work between digital and physical copies of games. How would that work if the save data was only on the card?
