It is exceedingly rare that anything outside GAF has contributed to a user's ban and snes' is no exception.
Perhaps the only cases I can think of (in the last several years, I am not going to revisit bans from 2004 where Mike Works banned someone because they posted something on O P A or whatever old-ass shit people are still harbouring grudges about) are people getting temp bans and then posting off-site that they intend to account suicide; people being permed, registering alts, and admitting to it off-site; or cases where someone is getting a temp ban or racism or sexism and then goes on a racist/sexist tear on social networking causing a mod who was trying to show some leniency to reconsider.

Not to beat a dead horse but, the way he was demodded was glorious. Kind of surprised that the one who did him in... Ka, Ka something--I forgot his name--didn't get a tag from bringing down one of the (in?)famous GAF mods of all time.

I was permabanned back in June. Staff thought I was a Microsoft Shill because I was defending the Xbox One really hard (and badly, in retrospect) in Gaming Side. This was around time that we had a LOT of Microsoft Astro-Turfers in Gaming Side, and having a relatively new account (I was accepted in February of this year), I was caught in the cross fire. Understandable, as my defense for the Xbox One were pretty close to some of the shills.
I actually noticed the moment I got banned, since I was still browsing GAF
Refreshed a thread to go to a new page, and boom, saw a ban message saying I was permanently banned for being a shill. I immediately took to Twitter to question why, and some fellow HaloGAF users came to my defense vouching that (at the time) I was only a 16 year old high schooler and not a marketer hired by Microsoft to praise the Xbox One. I was unbanned 3 or so hours later.
I was really happy and ecstatic and was glad that the staff was willing to unban me. I was quiet worried that I wasn't able to be unbanned, because the Terms of Use stated something like ". All decisions with regards to thread closure and movement, permanent and temporary bans, and membership issues are made... are final." I was really really happy to see that the ban was revoked.
I've changed the way I post on Gaming Side now. I try my best to explain my stances and opinion, and if my opinion is overall terrible, I just don't post. Don't want to repeat that incident!

I've been banned what, 5 times?
The last ban was the most painful by far. I couldn't be here for Ozymandias or Granite State (Breaking Bad episodes). Luckily, the ban ended a couple of days before Felina.

I got banned for calling my xbox "xbawk" a few days after it RROD'ed on me, I felt vindicated in calling it something stupid/random rather than dignifying it by it's proper name, and thought it was a really minor thing, but hey if I were a mod and had to read through people's shit all evening to weed out the chaff I'd probably have an itchy trigger finger too.

Bombastic, stubborn, occasionally petty Ami can be. But given how much I argued with him over Wii Sports I don't think he'd ban ya for that. And I'm pretty sure the rest wouldn't have just let it slide if he did.
So you should have just went with hubris. It's a good answer for moments of conceit.

The ban message was particularly spiteful, and the length of time was unexpectedly for the "reason" being used to justify it.
This wasn't an argument over a videogame, it was a more serious matter.

Anytime I feel like I'm making a risky post, I re-read, rewrite and then eventually just close the tab and never look back.

Well I may not be a medical doctor but a good friend of mine plays one on the internet and he told me the surefire way to cure this ailment is smoking two joints and calling his dealer in the morning.
It might be that I was never on the tail end of an Amitantrum but I always liked the guy. Flawed as he may be. I promise if I ever become a mod that I'll only ban you for things I legit think you deserve though.
They won't make me mod though. I'm just too likable. Not like Cyan. Mein stuffed tiger Fuhrer.

...but I've never been banned too. I am even sure if mods are aware of my existence, hahaha.
It's true, when I was modded they told me I had to tone down the likeability quotient. I like to think I've done a pretty good job.
My one and only ban, back in ~early 2010, was due to me telling somebody that he'd be a "fucking idiot" if his post was implying what I thought it was. It'd been discovered that Alan Wake's internal rendering resolution was closer to SD than HD and a particular poster was being piled on by discontented X360 fans who were widely accusing him of trolling despite the fact he was taking the time to explain the issues he had with what the footage was showing of the game; the ridiculousness and downright stupidity of the entire thing briefly got the better of me, though when the aforementioned somebody explained that his post was a joke, I did apologise. I've been a good boy since, however!

So far I've only been banned once for being salty about Bayonetta 2 being exclusive for the Wii U. I rectify that by getting a Wii U but it's collecting dust at the moment.

I just wanted to thank Stump and for his benevolence in unbanning me (with Master Thespian's help). I requested a perma-ban a year and a half ago because I felt I was wasting too much time on the forum - but I couldn't stay away. Being the opinionated person I am, I just couldn't find a forum replacement that I felt was worth my time. The moderating is relatively non-existant, culture too uniform and echo-chamber levels high. I found myself lurking GAF again on the regular, and with the new systems on the horizon, missing the opportunity to rub shoulders with the console-circus sideshows would have been painful.

One-strike applies only to Juniors like yourself. After you become a full Member, you can get banned several times. I've been off about 4 times now.

I got nailed for calling someone a "fucking moron" around election time I think cause someone refused to learn how progressive tax rates worked or something of that ilk. (I wasn't able to post in the election threads on election day tho
) so I see I'm not the only one who got nailed for that.
