I almost forgot your dad was a gym leader in gen III. There was something weird about him though. Like him and the mom were divorced or something. He was really distant to the player too, just said some stuff like "you are my child, now battle me with all your strength".

When you beat him, he was all like "... I... I can't... I can't believe it. <Player>... I lost to <player>? But rules are rules! Here, take this.". Probably thought his son was weak or sumthin'.

Once the genies got unique forms they started feeling more like an old-school trio but the old ones using the same sprite base just brought back horrible memories

I noticed it while starting up a new HG game recently. It doesn't take away the A button working out it is, just does something with the L.

I guess it would be useful in playing with one hand (when the only button you need on that side is a).

I think they're all supposed to be various things like a goat, bull, deer, and pony. The point is, there's four of them. Kamis are definitely the trio of Unova, and thank god for their Therian forms.
