So if I get a Froakie I can get two awesome Starters and don't have to see Chespin's ugly face? Amazing.

Also I'm glad Gamefreak stop treating Starters as something rarer than legendaries and started handing them out.

You can get a Froakie, Bulbasaur, Torchic and Fennekin in one Play through =)

I wonder if you can farm mega stones off the Elite Four with item stealing moves, I can't imagine them letting you but it would be weird to have only one item that can't be. Would be hilarious to steal the appropriate Mega stone and then evolve though.

Got Y version earlier today, I gotta say, really impressed with how Gen 6 had streamlined the start now, very little is unavailable to you at the start, running shoes already on, getting to the first town requires no pokemon - and you start with a nice amount that allows you to buy a few potions and pokeballs right off the bat.

There also seems to be a healthy spread of pokemon. Route 2-3 is basically a greatest hits compilation of every early game Pokemon from every region. Don't want a new gen Pokemon? Then you can still catch Pidgey/Zigzagoon/Bidoof and train them to your hearts content.

Also raising affection boosts EXP gained in battle and seems to grant stuff like your Pokemon expressing how they feel about a battle ("Pikachu seems a bit uneasy..." "Pikachu is really keen!")

How is Pokemon distribution within each route? Wouldn't it take forever to find more uncommon monsters?

It's not a bad-looking Pokemon, it just has the misfortune of being both repetitive and completely outclassed.

I do agree a less anthropomorphic would be cooler. Big scary tusks are the best.
