Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

It's going to be a new Pokémon for X and Y that hasn't been seen (via official channels) so Sakurai will not want to reveal it before people have a chance to play the Pokémon games.

Thus it will be Monday!

"The shield that can deflect things with a little "clunk!" is still around. There's a slight reaction to the impact this time, so brace yourself."

Since I'm up so late sidequestin' in Windwaker HD this pleases me

I don't think we will see any playable X/Y pokemon this time.

I always thought usually release characters after the game, with WW being an exception.

Here is the schedule of previous announcements.

Olimar - Friday (day before Pikmin 3)
Luigi - Wednesday
Peach - Thursday
Toon Link - Thursday (same day as Wind Waker HD)
Sonic - Tuesday

The logical expectation would be Friday, the day before X/Y.

But it doesn't work with all projectiles and items, does it?

I think it does work against all projectiles except final smash, but I'm not sure about items.

About the shield deflection thing, I think it only works for small projectiles, like Fox and Falcos beam bullets, Links arrows, mario's fireballs. I don't remember it deflecting bombs though, they usually just exploded on contact. Infact, I don't even remember it deflecting anything back at all, just blocks the projectile, well, the non exploding ones. Can someone confirm this? Would seem like a nice buff if you can predict the trajectory of the deflection.

Yeah, shield only blocks. Even fully charged Nintendoscope shots, though IIRC

That's great, haha.

Real talk though, I think Nintendo is slowly getting better with online stuff though they are still far behind.

I'm gonna be honest, nintendo knows all about the onlinez, there isnt much for them to do to be "not behind" other companies, they're even doing stuff its competitors arent even doing and they have series that have some of the largest online communities in the gaming world, smash would probably be up there if it wasent for brawl's netcode.

If you guys don't want to get angry, don't read that Sakurai sequelization thread. Just don't do it.

I feel bad for the guy at times like this. His words are so scrutinized all the time.

I read the op and few people's comments. I haven't revisit it yet but what's happened?

Basically the same thing, people bashing Sakurai and Nintendo for making sequels over and over again, but speaking out against it. The criticism to Nintendo may be valid (depending on your perspective, I guess...but not any less valid than against any other publisher, IMO)...but Sakurai...it's just a lashing out. It's sad because he's really brought some great stuff to the industry, but all that people can talk about is "LOL HE'S ONE TO TALK MAKING KIRBY AND SMASH FOR 20 YEARS".

Ugh...the fact that literally everything he says now that he started working on the new smash is constantly scrutinized and criticized is painful.

Sakurai made three mainline Kirby games 20 years ago, but according to the people in that thread he's been responsible for every single sequel since then.

Is he suggesting that the deflecting with the shield is going to cause a push-back on Link? If so, that's awesome. I want small touches like that all across the board. Make the game super responsive

I don't think that Fox's or Falco's beam would be deflected by Link's shield. They are laser projectiles, and therefore cannot be nullified by anything.

However, Link's shield can deflect Samus' fully-charged Charge Beam (in Brawl, at least). That's... pretty sad for Samus lol.

The disappearance of the Challenger Approaching banner combined with X/Y's release on Saturday almost guarantees a reveal tomorrow. It has to happen.
