I got a shiny tentacruel back in Crystal
A zigzagoon in ruby
A Whismur and Tailow in sapphire
Caught a few in D/P/PT, but can't remember what.
I caught a oddish in soul silver.
Like 3 in white, that I can't remember, and 2 in black.
And Black 2 I got a patrat, pidove, one of the elemental monkeys.

We don't really know. According to Serebii(Joe) Aggron line is exclusive to X and Tyranitar line is nowhere to be found in it, but the spread on the scan implies that the megas are exclusive to the opposite versions - though it doesn't actually say it.

Gamefreak for some reason though Aggron and Tyranitar where comparable. (Aggron is much much worse than TTAR) and decided to have a nice switcharoo.
Aggron is exclusive to X. Aggronite is exclusive to Y.
Tyranitar is exclusive to Y. Tyranite is exclusive to X.
Hence, having to trade one way or another.

I haven't had one use that on me yet, they're just so annoying to take down and have STAB Headbutt which is deadly. Just had my lvl 19 Floette and lvl 18 Pancham taken down by two of them at lvl 14 in a double battle.
This makes me curious. How would the mega forms of Lucario and Blaziken fare against Mega Aggron?

It is their defences you have to worry about, they were taking like 1/3 damage from lvl 22 Braixen's Ember and then they've got that ability...
It won't do so well against either Pokemon, but with significant defense investment Aggron can at least tank one hit which could potentially decide a match.
Protect + Mega Stone anyone?

That double battle is probably the worst one you'll encounter for a long time - Furfrou simply shouldn't have headbutt at that level considering it also gets stab and you won't have anything that can resist it. Think I used my Light Ball Pikachu to fry them.

Ember is a Special attack! And it has Fairy Wind but that only has 40BP so even with STAB it was only doing about 1/4 damage

That's what I meant since Ember was effective.
You can always try running from them (I heard they're fast though).

I was a little under-prepared tbf, I don't think either were on full health but still, they were stupidly strong! How far in are you btw? And what's your team?
I always wanted my own personal irl rival. One of my friends is getting it but he's going to rush it to review and already has a copy. Always wanted to have an occasional battle with someone while we are both doing our first playthroughs just to see each others pokemon grow but that shit is hard when everyone is moving at their own pace.
I have my entire weekend set aside from this (minus saturday but eshop downloads happen at midnight central time right?)

Oh. Just went on /vp/ and saw them on the first page and WOW - I've disliked 80% of megas so far but they've done both Aggron and Tyranitar justice, straight outta Pacific Rim.

It wasn't as effective as you'd expect a STAB Special move to be on a special based Pokemon with a level advantage of 8! I would have run had it not been a trainer battle

Ok cool...forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't there some restrictions in place for platinum and heartgold? Like you can only trade a certain amount of Pokemon a day n what not? Or can I go directly into black from both? Because that would be convenience of the über persuasion...
Unless there is some restriction in black as to how/when you can trade Pokemon into it because I never beat it ☹
Oh derp, so he caught that Froakie in the wild in post-game or something, I gotcha.
Makes me wonder, how do you not one-shot everything you encounter in the wild by the time you're in the late game and just adding to your roster? Or would you have a plethora of master balls to use freely by that time?

Just at the 3rd gym, team is Meowstic, Azumarill, Pikachu, Hawlucha, Charmeleon and the other slot is waiting for something to fill it, currently Pancham for HMs.
