The Wonderful 101 Review Thread

Imho, people blaming the controls for not recognizing shapes is like blaming a pencil for not drawing a straight line for you. It's not the tool that's the problem, it's the user. I've played the demo and the only times I've had a shape fail is when I screwed up and it was all wobbly and looked like a chile pepper, totally my fault, not the game's. It's like saying a fighting game's controls suck because you can't pull off a dragon punch. It's completely ridiculous.

That's the age we live in now, unfortunately. Press X To Awesome. Heaven forbid people be challenged once in a while.

Some devs have done their jobs too well and now everyone thinks they're hot shit at video games and flip out whenever the spectres of failure and learning curves rear their ugly heads.

The only review that should matter:

Famitsu - 10/10/9/10

Sweet!

Comparison with other Platinum/Clover games:

Bayonetta - 40/40
Vanquish - 37/40
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - 39/40
Okami - 39/40
Viewtiful Joe - 33/40
God Hand - 26/40

Viewtiful Joe and God Hand are their best games, yet they have the lowest scores. D:

It seems that the reviews that have come later have been more 8s and 9s from what I've seen.

Is every review considered in the metacritic score or only selected reviews?

I was surprised that neither pikmin 3 or 101 aced the reviews. They seem to beg for the gamepad. Buying both anyway of course.

With the exception of multi-tasking with the captains, Pikmin 3 is primarily a Nunchuck game to me. I can see anyone who used the overly sensitive analog controls for aiming as being extremely frustrated.

So, IGN put out a video about the multiplayer mode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9DT0q-Pmr4

I'm linking it for one reason: 101 member counts. For 3-player it looks to be 17, 17, and 16. So I'd guess for 4 players I'd be 13, 13, 12, 12. I was curious if they were going to go for uneven numbers and it looks like the answer to that is yes.

There's a bit of misinformation in the video though. They say you can't use Multi-Unite morphs, but you can. Or at least you can when you play 2 players. The only issue is that the minimum character count for a morph is 10, so you'd need at least 20 people in your squad to have two morphs out at once.

Edit: Ha, wrong thread. I'll leave this up anyhow.

I have to say, this is my game of the year. Honestly, it's just fantastic. This makes the WIi U worth owning. I'm surprised this didn't get better reviews. The controls aren't that hard (once you play it for an hour). And, it actually utilizes the Wii U pad better than most games.

I wont dismiss God Hand but its not the best game Capcom Studio4/Clover/Platinum has made.

The best one still remains Resident Evil 4.
