Pokemon X and Y SPOILER Discussion Thread

The E4 in this game, despite not being able to challenge them again with higher lvl Pokémon, is great.

The music, the look of the league, the battles...

We dont know that yet. May be in the battle chateau. Nit giving upnon anything until the guide comes out.

Finding a Minun was a lot easier when I realised that Sweet Scent = Horde

Also does anyone know whether evolving Doublade closes off it's moveset, and when to evolve it to get King's Shield?

Daily reminder that Clawitzer is best

- good stat distribution
- Mega Launcher buffs 50%
- good Pulse move spread
- glorious red shiny
You forgot the most important one

- Is a pistol shrimp

Also Dragon Knight Honedge is on Route 6 chillin' with the Oddish (By which I mean horribly maiming them since it knows attacks that brutalise damn near everything on that route)

Could be, I've seen gym leaders in the chateau.

I'd like some cameo's too... I love rebattling icons from previous games. Gary better be true, but I want MORE!

anyone find the daycare yet? I've got a male and female honedge, and a female froakie that need breeding

edit: 10 seconds after I posted this I found it

durr

It's directly after the Snorlax

yeah I was literally STANDING ON THAT BRIDGE when I made the post.

When choosing starters at the point where you can nickname your starter, is it possible to tell if you'll get a shiny based upon the little poke avi best to the input name box or must you go all the way to the summary page?

For anyone interested I finally managed to find out how to get into the snobby boutique in Lumiose City - it is tied to how stylish your outfit is. I bought a fancy dress, leggings and boots from Anistar City and combined them with some other bits I had and am now classified as stylish enough to enter.

Also don't bother going in until you have a LOT of cash. Items range from 100k-300k each. A woman in there does say there is a special coupon to get a discount at the store, not sure where that'd be found though.

Anyone know how Goomy evolves into Sliggoo and Sliggoo into Goodra? Level I assume, but what levels? And where is Goomy found?

Goomy is found on Route 14.

Geez these Honedge eggs take a while to hatch. Don't suppose there's anything with Flame Body around or before the daycare?

no the sprite remains normal as well only the summary screen shows shiny.

So apparently I got Pokerus at some early point (as in before the second gym) and never realized it until I got home from work today. Luckily I a) saw it before the infection stage wore off and b) have a couple of pokemon with it stored in my boxes (from swapping in and out team members).

Hopefully it remains frozen like in previous gens if you keep infected mons in the box.

Can Minun and Plusle definitely be found in hoardes?
Yes. I encountered a 4x Plusle / 1x Minun horde early on. Caught the Minun, it had Volt Absorb, seemingly new for it.

That's how I found mine as well after about an hour of not seeing any. I think the Plusle + Minun horde is a lot more common if you're forcing hordes than wandering through the grass looking for the one that's rarer in your version

Alright what Pokemon have changed cries? Pikachu obviously, but Charmander's is definitely not the same as before, while Squirtle and Bulbasaur's cries remain the same.
Oddish's is slightly different, like it has a new filter on it or something

Took me 15 minutes of spamming Sweet Scent before I got one :(

All the old Pokemon I've encountered have different cries. They're similar to the old ones, but very clearly new. Gen 1 especially seem to have been meticulously redone, the rest may just be from upgrading the sound engine.

From what I can tell, most of the cries of Gen 1-3 Pokemon have been spruced up a bit. Varies from pokemon to pokemon. Some sound like embellished beeping, while others sound very different to my ears.

Can you share some of that PokeRus to me?

IVs are still set from birth. EVs can be reset with one of the punching bags.

did they add an easier way to check IVs? I'm at the 'battle chateau' and I was hoping to find a stats judge NPC there, but it just seems like a bunch of battles. Or is there some way to tell from the stats graph thing?

pokemon amie makes me smile so much

I'm still going through the game but at some point when I'm in the post-game I'll probably infect a bunch of trade fodder (like bred starters or something) and start the pox party.

Also just caught Goomy. My team for the story portion of the game is complete.

Just got the Hidden Power TM and the person who gives it to you also tells you what type of attack it'll be for any Pokemon in your party. The other woman in the building says that Hidden Power has the same power regardless of what type it is, does that mean they've finally ditched having it linked to IVs?
