Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Finally downloaded the J n d collection (part of ps+ in eu), tried the third one for about 5 minutes, it's not much fun for me but I only played one of the psp games which was okay. While it was downloading I gave the spelunky trial a try and that game is really fun even being hard.
I've spent too much recently and seen too much I've bought come on ps+ really quickly (that stealth indie game especially) to get it at 12 quid, hopefully by Christmas there is a sale or if I actually get the hang of the demo I might give in. Glad it's on Vita.

Tearaway in a month right? Hopefully luftrausers shows up soon, been waiting for a while, instabuy for me.

RO Ace will be digital only in the US? What? No cart, no buy.

Wish people would stop doing that.

You have to accept that not every game is going to have a retail release. We should be grateful that digital distribution is there as a cheaper option for publishers to release stuff with less financial risk.

Same thing applies to the 3DS, I want to punch all those people in the face who refuse to buy the new Ace Attorney game because it's digital only. By doing so you're only being part of the problem.

I still prefer physical. They could take pre-order for physical way before hand on their own site and make quantities based on those numbers but they don't. There's no financial risk on that, is there now?

Well, fair enough, ONLY IF Ace was a DLC expansion for my RO cart. But, alas, it is not. It is a "new game" (maybe priced at $40?).

Couldn't care less about the financial risk of the publishers or whatever. For me, digital versions are more expensive because of the memory card space and resell value (or the lack of). If in the future, the game is really really cheap, I give a go, but Xseed is well known of not doing sales at all.

Their loss, not mine.

People aren't refusing to buy Ace Attorney 5 because it's digital only. People are refusing to buy it for the same reason they refrain to buy most/any game on the eShop. They just don't want to support that business model, period.
Not that there aren't good reasons to be pissed at Capcom for not having a retail release...

I'll gladly do that when someone starts passings digital only savings onto consumer.

And they would need exclusive Valkyria Chronicles or Persona 5 for me to buy anything from Nintendo lol worthy digital shop.

Those people have fucked up priorities and need to get over themselves, the eShop DRM is not the end of the world. Encouraging localizations is far more important than nerd raging over something that is not even the publisher's fault.

Will always want physical over digital here. Much better option than endless space juggling with my memory capacity. Had to skip on many games due to space considerations.

I actually wouldn't consider buying digital on Vita for any game that goes over 3GB tbh.

the eShop DRM is not the end of the world.

No, but it is a fucking awful system that some of us have every right to want no part of.

As things currently are, I know I'll never buy digital on a Nintendo console.

You can't be serious. You know how expensive it is to produce, and ship small runs of physical media? Unless you're okay with paying much more than your standard retail game.

I'm about to buy that 64gb card from yesasia for $95...anybody think there's a chance it'll sell for cheaper than that in the US? I just assumed it'll be locked at $99...

It has been discussed thoroughly in other threads that Capcom as little reason to make this a DD only release in face of past sales of the series; that their goal is just maximizing profit margins. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, they are a company after all, but their customers aren't obliged to go along with it. It can be argued that by buying into it that you're not just encouraging localization but encouraging this sort of business practice.
Others simply have really strong feelings regarding eShop or other types of very restrictive DRM, and I can totally understand that.
I may agree or not agree to the lengths people are willing to go to defend their views, but I certainly agree they reflect very valid concerns. To de deny that is what is truly fucked up if you ask me. /off-topic rant

Question about P4G, I've heard the into is a few hours long. Does the game let you save often or do you actually need 2-3 hours uninterrupted when starting the game?

You can save, don't worry about it.Even if you didn't, with sleep mode this wouldn't have been a problem even if you couldn't.

So Valhalla Knights 3 comes out this week, how is it? I watched a quick gameplay video and it looks like a Musou type game.

I am. I don't wait for sales, buy used, or wait for PS+ in normal circumstances, I used to pay $85 for stuff like Chrono Trigger on SNES, and I love things like what GaijinWorks did with Class of Heroes II (where if X are ordered, it can be produced), and I think reproduction carts are awesome. Absolutely nothing wrong with the existence of specialty products.

In addition to the aforementioned Class of Heroes 2 release, that's exactly what Ghostlight did with Devil Survivor 2 in Europe.

The wait for Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD on Vita has turned some people to stone (new Vita 2K commercial): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wCkcRPcIKM

This commercial is bad, Very bad, it's almost in the same level of awful like Sony PS3 commercials from 2006 and 2007, and don't know is aimed for whom exactly? Vita has MunHun and Akiba's Trip and mostly games rated for teen so Sony need to hire a famous Gravure idol, Signer or a well known actress star to do Vita commercial to move some units.

Bad? Is awesome. It's a really funny ad, and that kinda stuff works with comercials. I don't think it's going to make people line for a Vita, but if the ad makes people laugh and talk about what they've seen the next day, Sony has done a good job.

I could tell you an example, but it's a Spanish product and you probably wouldn't know what i'm talking about.

Man, I need to tell myself to stop playing P4. I don't want to finish it, but I do want to keep playing!

Not really and I wished xseed did more coverage on this. Maybe release a few screen shots or a video showing off gameplay.

If vitabros(that are usually well informed) complain about the lack of info and media of a retail game that release in a pair of days then you are doing it really wrong.
There are various videos of the japanese version, but they only show the first 10 minutes.

Anyway it's a rpg where you can have a party up to 7 members and fights are up to 7 vs 7, it has all the typical elements of rpgs(races, jobs, stats, abilities visible equipment, loot, traps, etc)

!

it'll make people laugh at Vita and forget about it 3 mins later

now get Aya Ueto wearing nighties playing Vita or Haruna Kojima pretend to be happy playing Vita game and tell people to do the same, now you'll have people talking.

What did I just watch?

I dunno, which is why I made up my own narrative.

also this.

it's a pointless mess aimed for no one, what a waste of money.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with Japanese culture, but I'm an expert. That kind of ad is par for the course over there.

I see that BB has MLB the Show for $10 this week. With my $5 coupon, this seems like a no brainer. Just curious as to what to expect...any quick thoughts or comments on the gameplay? Thanks!

There's more than enough save opportunities. Not only that you can teleport out of the dungeon by using a fairly cheap item, save and still able to start from the floor you left off.

Heh yeah I mean it's totally fair that Nintendo is asking me to pay nearly the same effing amount a new 3DS would cost to transfer all my bought content from the eShop. Yepp we shouldn't punch NINTENDO in the face but punch us that have been burnt and those who will keep on getting burnt by that.

Those people have fucked up priorities and need to get over themselves, the eShop DRM is not the end of the world. Encouraging localizations is far more important than nerd raging over something that is not even the publisher's fault.

Yes I would agree but just sitting back and taking it is just as stupid. Look at recent events. Was it the calm mild mannered intellectuals that changed MS stance on the Xbone? Or was it the entitled with their loud voices and juvenile behaviour that changed their stances?

Nah go Wild and rage is what I say, stop buying it for said platform. Companies want money and if one platform is burning them then they will go to another that will satisfy the customer and their need to make more money.

Cross posting here

Having now fully decided I want in on the Vita love, I find I am in need of a little advice regarding importing from JP. I know the whole OLED vs LCD debate but I'm so damn superficial that a having a funky colour means more to me.

So where is best to buy from for importing to the UK? I used to use play-asia but its been a few years since I last imported and googling reviews seems to suggest they are not as reliable as they used to be.

I am going to be stuck in hospital fairly regularly starting in a couple of weeks so I need to order from somewhere that can reliably deliver before then.

hmm, look like I'll need to look into it some more.

Here is an old video showing off gameplay. I skipped the intro and customization stuff.

Well, yes. I got the platinum

I was looking to continue with what is going to happen on the Mars mission but then it just ends on a cliffhanger. Big fucking tease

What the hell? these screenshots are beyond horrible. was Valhalla Knights 3 originally a PSP or something?
You are too harsh imo, screens maybe are not flattering but the video looks far from being bad(i'm on vita).
Vk 1 & 2 were far from being the best looking psp games, but i liked their serious non-too-anime look, vk3 has the same style but the upgrade is evident, graphically it's not killzone mercenary but it's on par at least with mid tier ps2 games and better than some vita jrpgs imo.

How many copies do you think these games sell? If I'm not completely wrong, the two earlier ones are around the 100k sales in Japan, +/- 20-30k copies. PSP+ level graphics is what you get when a game doesn't sell much better than that. It's pointless to whine about it.
