I know many chinese malaysians that are brought up speaking english only too and they are definitely better than my wife.

Is because inside us all is the insecure dude who desperately acts this way to get any kind of attention from someone they like - platonic or not. But it's really bad for you. So unhealthy. You need to take a step back and deal with YOUR feelings about this without worrying about hers, or the friendship, or whether the other "lucky guy" and her are happy. Just don't involve yourself. The kind of groveling you're doing right now does not convince her you are a nice guy, only a lonely one, and it convinces you that this is what you deserve. Fill your time with anything else - especially stuff that gets you out of the house and meeting people and feeling worthy of companionship again. I guarantee she'll understand that you need the space, and if you internalize this precedent of being dogshit to other people and never deal with it, you'll bring all that insecurity with you to the next girl you like, and you won't be able to be yourself with them either.
