Pokemon X and Y SPOILER Discussion Thread

What I did was keep using a Pokemon holding an Amulet Coin in battles and I eventually got a ton of money very early on.

I've been using the Amulet Coin the whole game, but between the normal stuff (ultra balls, max repels, revives, full restores), TMs, clothing, and other expenditures I've been burning through cash like never before!

Wow, really?! That sucks. But I don't think I bought all the TMs so maybe that's why I got a ton load of money. But I did buy a whole lot of other stuff and gave many tips.

What's the point of the restaurants/cafés where you pay to be seated in a certain area? They only show me different Pokemon

Okay, did the 3* Café with Amulet Coin.

$100,000 entry.

$64,512 from trainers + $6250 per Balm Mushroom.

I think there is a max of 25 Balm Mushrooms - this would require you to get no Pokémon knocked out and to adhere to the suggested turn amount.

I just did a near perfect run (11 turns, 1 KO) so I missed out on one, I think.

Before I had 1 KO and did it all in 13 turns and got 22.

Either way with 24 Balm Mushrooms I got $150,000.

Giving me $114,512 in a time far less than would be required of defeating the Pokémon League to net - which would net me $136,640 with an Amulet Coin.

What makes you "famous" for the Sushi Bar across from Looker (and possibly other things?) Also, has anyone figured out what's up with the ghost girl in the city? Or is that just going to remain a mystery until an event or something pops up I guess?

That ghost girl freaked the sh*t out of me. People said that she is in the hotel listening if the elevator comes, though I think they only used the same "witch" sprite.

You need to be champion and do the café battle menus to do the high roller sushi place.

I was listening to all the Champion themes, and my favorite is Diantha's.
I don't know if it's because it's the newest.

dat beginning though mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm

What the fuck?

Maybe the region is going to get an expansion sooner than we thought.

I only have four Pokemon in my team right now, the other two slots are filled with HM users or Pokemon I want to evolve.

It's so hard to decide who to fill the fifth and sixth spots in my team.

The next Pokemon Direct:

Masuda: "Starting right now, you will be able to download the special location [Ancient Ruins], where you will be able to experience a very special event, and get a chance to battle the famous archaeologist Cynthia.

Please fully enjoy her presence."

I'd so be on that.

Pokemon Cynthia X and Cynthia Y to be released in 2014.

So I battled the guy in Kiloude City where you influence what team members he had. I didn't know you could battle him at first so I thought the options he gave you were weird because they all did the same thing. Turboblaze and Terravolt were there but I didn't pick them. Does he use Reshiram/Zekrom if you pick one?

iirc, the highest EXP yield you could get (theoretically speaking) in BW was on a Level 100 Blissey with a veritable fuckton of buffs including a Dream World upgrade if you were level one; it'd be enough to bring you up to Level 81 in one battle.

Now that the Exp. All is a thing, someone should see if a mass hyper-leveling is possible through something like Friend Safari.

Some things I noticed in Lumiose

I can now buy Blastoiseite for 300k instead of 1m
I can now enter the boutique despite never buying a single piece of clothing. I DID visit every single building in Lumiose, though

Just beat the Elite Four + Champion.

I'm guessing now the places I really want to hit up are Unknown Dungeon and Sea Spirit's Den, anywhere else notable I should go?

It looks like the trick to getting into the boutique is going through a dinner at the 3 star restaurant, and maybe going to the museum? Either way, I can go in now too. Good thing the restaurant is good for making quick money, as the boutique stuff is EXPENSIVE. (Though there was mention of a coupon or something you can find?)

Sea Spirit's Den won't be useful for a bit
apparently till you run into your bird a number of times
, and you should add Terminus Cave to your list. Also go do a round in the Battle Maison if you haven't yet, then check the top of that town.

Edit: Sorry for the double post!

FWIW I haven't made it to the Pokemon League yet, so I can't battle the 3 starred restaurant

Something good inside Terminus Cave. Also, upgrade your mega ring and get all the mega items. That's about it :(.

I'm pretty sure the Looker stuff in the city doesn't unlock till post-game, and that's what I'm messing with right now. But yeah, post-game is a little barren, unfortunately. I've almost got all the TMs that don't require BP, and I've already got a LOT of the new Pokemon thanks to the rather small set of additions. I was thinking last night on how annoying it was that you had to get the Mega Stones in a one hour period each day instead of them just being the results of proper exploration... and then I realized that's probably a technique to stretch out the empty post-game. :(

Here's what I did:
- Go to one and two star restaurants
- Went to that poodle pokemon place
- Went to the cafes (not sure if I did all of them)
- Meet Alexa

Alexa was the last thing I needed to do before getting in

How exactly do you get the Mega Stones for stuff like Charizard and Venosaur if you took Squirtle?

What's this Akexa thing? I don't think I've seen her since she gave me the Exp Share. Where do you meet her? I have unlocked the boutique without her, I think (unless I met her and don't remember)

Huh. The 3 star restaurant was definitely what pushed me over. I guess it's probably not some firm requirement but a number of little things that add up to some invisible goal post.

There's a stone shop in the city. Talk to one of the guys there and he'll sell them to you (they are ungodly expensive though, so I have yet to get them).

Edit: Damn, double post again. Sorry guys, I'll try to be more careful with this so it doesn't happen again!

I could reeeaally use a Gardevoirite before postgame. Can anyone who doesn't care about Gardevoir help me out?

EDIT: Unrelated, but did anyone ever come across a character speaking another language in their game? There's this random girl sitting on a bench in the building between Shalour City and Route 12 that's speaking German.

Does anyone know if the discount coupon is actually an item? It gets a mention in the boutique, but I can't find evidence as to whether or not it actually exists.

I chose Blastoise as my starter and I have the option to buy Venasaurite for an insane price (I know it gets lower).

Do I ever get the option to buy Charizardite?

Game Freak you trolls, it took me two hours to encounter a Lapras and the first thing it did was use Perish Song -_-
