Pokemon X and Y SPOILER Discussion Thread

Speaking of Fennekin.

Not perfect by any means but it has +Sp. Atk (-Sp. Def) and good EVs.

I like the nickname, is that supposed to be a Yotsuba reference?

Anyone been talking about reports of older Pokemon get their base stats altered? Apparently Butterfree has a Sp At buff. I hope this means good things for Primeapes attack and/or speed! He can't be outclassed forever! Hope he gets a new ability as well.

So I saw this Tyranitar set on Smogon and I want to use it but they didnt even put a nature on it.

Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EV's: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Atk
- Crunch / Payback
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge / Ice Beam / Fire Blast
- Superpower / Low Kick

What you guys think it would be?

I will need to add people when I get home today. See my profile for my FC and let me know if you added me or not. I know I still have people from AC-GAF who also have Pokemon but I need... MOAR for battling, trading, and friend safari especially.

So, I realized from that list of trademarked names awhile back...

ディアンシー, Diansii
ハリボーグ, Haribougu - Quilladin
ゲコガシラ, Gekogashira - Frogadier
ボルケニオン, Borukenion
デデンネ, Dedenne
ホルビー, Horubii = Bunnelby
ニャオニクス, Nyaonikusu - Meowstic
ブリガロン, Burigaron - Chesnaught
トリミアン, Torimian - Furfrou
テールナー, Teerunaa - Braixen
ジガルデ, Jigarude - Zygarde
マフォクシー, Mafokushi - Delphox
フーパ, Fuupa
ゲッコウガ, Gekkouga - Greninja

Diansii, Fuupa, and Borukenion do not match up with any currently known Pokemon's JP names. These could simply be unused trademarks, or non-Pokemon names mistaken for them, but it's still a bit interesting since they sound like possible Pokemon. Event Legendaries coded in the game?
Can someone pop them into the trade system and see if the names are accepted?

Is that how that works? Hmm... well, better than playing (really annoying) browser minigames. Do friends/I need to be online for it to work, or you just register them?

Yep. Dream World Hidden Ability Pokemon are available in the Friend Safari or Hoard Encounters.

The mechanics on how certain Pokemon are available in the Safari haven't been fully uncovered.

Just got to Friend Safari. Really cool idea. Wonder what type I am.

I apparently wasn't paying enough attention before, as it seems medals survived, but you have to access the online stuff which explains how I didn't see them yet. The habitat list, however, still appears to be a(n awesome) dead feature. :(

I don't know any Japanese, but Diansii makes me think of Diana - the Roman goddess of the hunt, the moon, etc. Her Greek equivalent is Artemis and she's also associated with wildlife.

Maybe they're blending mythologies extensively here and there's a "hierarchy" to the new legendary trio the way it was in DPPt? That is, each of the big three has a "lieutenant" of sorts that form their own trio. Who's associated with moons and hunting? Wolves. Xerneas could have a Fenrir-inspired wolf legendary serving under its wing. Diana is also part of a trio of maiden goddesses that consist of her, Minerva and Vesta, too, so maybe rather than subordinates the endgame legendary trio has a hidden "wife trio" with distaff counterparts.

I don't know about Fuupa, but Borukenion implies "broken" to me - so it might be an event legend that somehow corresponds to Zygarde.

EDIT: Isn't there an empty location somewhere in-game with a broken ice mirror? "Brokeneon" (pronounced browe-ken-ee-on) could be the Fenrir dude. Does Norse mythology have any "fragmented" gods? Alternatively, Borukenion could imply "burrow," and correspond with a messenger squirrel legendary.

Need more Friend Safari occupants. Feel free to add me:

So I'm breeding a Ditto with a strong HP IV stat and an Abra with a strong Speed IV stat.

Not having much success.

And then out of nowhere the Judge dude says that one has outstanding potential and it's strongest stat is Sp. Atk.

This seems like as good a place as any to post my friend code. I'd like some stuff to do in the friend safari. My friend code is 2578-3126-4463. Pm me if you add me so I can do the same. Thanks.

I have TBH, I stopped playing after I beat the pokemon league cause there's really not much to do :\

at least in other games there were more things to do and more areas. People weren't making things up when they said that there really isn't much post game. Just two legendaries, battle chateu and filling up the dex. I don't really count looking for stones as post game cause it's just like getting TMs and such

Where do you find the judge?

For some reason I'm finding the post-game Looker stuff really neat (except the first quest, but whatever). Dunno what it is about it, but I actually think it's cooler than a lot of other post-game stuff from other Pokemon games, although I'm sure it'll probably end sooner than I'd like, and it doesn't make up for the lack of content. It does a good job of highlighting all the stuff there is and Luminose, and I dig the darker tone of the Poke-crime solving. I wouldn't mind at all if a future Pokemon game was based heavily on this.

Can anyone tell me if there's really anything worth playing toward in the second half of the game, besides the usual Elite Four/Champion/Legendary march? I'm having a lot of trouble working up the enthusiasm to keep going. It's so...identical.

Pretty much Online,Trainer Customization and hidden things like the ghost girl or Looker. That and filling up the dex of course.

Just beat the champion. Final time was 21:56 and my Hall of Fame consisted of:

Greninja 79
Blaziken 80
Venasaur 67
Bisharp 69
Alakazam 67
Auroras 62

Exp share was a god send lol

This makes me glad I immediately shut Exp. Share off. Not to knock on you though; if grinding is something you dislike then it must be great to finally just enjoy the story.

Anyone know which Dragon type would be the best to use? Currently leaning towards Salamance or Goodra but having trouble deciding.

The rest of my squad are:

Greninja
Venasaur
Raichu
Alakazam
Aurorus

So I have three fully EV-trained, beneficial nature Pokémon I'm raising. Now that they're fully Super Trained/Core Trained, can I trade them to my brother and have them traded back to me so that they gain EXP more quickly and without suffering any adverse effects?

The game tracks the original owner so I don't think you will get any bonus exp.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think they'll gain bonus XP once they get back to you. You're still their OT, and they still have your ID number. Your brother can get the bonus points though.

Your Pokemon will only gain "trade experience" when they are in his game - when they are with you, it'll be business as usual.

If you want to boost exp. gain in your game, find a Lucky Egg, or max out their affection in Pokemon-Amie.

Ah, OK. Guess I'll just continue fighting high-level mons and pumping them via Exp. Share until they're ready!

EDIT: Nice tips, Coltraine.

You're the OT. You shouldn't get boosted EXP.

So this fucker encounters me randomly in high grass yesterday:
Sugimori_146.png

And doesn't even let me do a single command before escaping :-|

Question: Where's the electric rock? Want to evolve nosepass & magneton

Already checked the rock store in the capital? I thought they at least had the basics.

Since mechanics stuff ends up here. I thought this was interesting.

Noticed this Smogon thread.
Baby Pokemon caught in the wild (e.g. Rilou, Mantyke, Chingling) have three perfect IVs at minimum. Also applies to Togepi (overwriting the friend safari 2 at minimum rule) and legendaries.

However, someone who has a Nidorina with 3 perfect IVs noticed something. These are all Pokemon that can not breed.

Now, where is my wild Pichu battle...

Anyone know the base stats for Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist? I just was to know how to EV train. Have an adamant super, just enter if it's worth dumping into defenses due to all its weaknesses.

This is awesome. I wish they'd just go ahead and make the jump to all 31s on everything all the time, but stuff like this is an improvement. Baby pokemon are at least not 100% in the wrong for existing any more.
