These people are from Texas, right?

It's a stereotype for us Western Stater's that Texan's come to your state, destroy natural lands, get lost and require a rescue helicopter.

Thank God you get to bill them for the destruction of property.

They're pretty stupid, but I'd be lying if I said I actually cared. I actually like rocks too, but I can't summon any outrage against these people. Just don't care about rock formations I guess.

I hope they do face charges personally. You don't go to state/national parks and fuck shit up. I don't care if it is just a rock. Also i don't buy their excuse if I was a betting man I would bet the reason was more "I bet you can't push that rock over" then any worry about it falling on kids.

I have to agree. While this rock incident annoys me that pic actually got a physical reaction from me. Nothing pisses me off more then when dumb asses just casually vandalize pieces of human history.

They were dumb for doing that.

I hope the rock is OK. Being pushed over like that and falling can be mentally traumatizing to it.

Weather probably would have taken until human life as we know it was already over but these idiots accomplished it in a few minutes. Bravo.

this doesn't bother me. i don't want to see them get punished for having fun with some rocks. one time i got yelled at for touching a stalagmite in a cave

I can understand where they're coming from with their concerns ... I was in Boy Scouts organized by Mormons as a kid and you had all kinds of guys, most of them who wouldn't do anything like this.

These guys however were just being incredibly idiotic. I mean, come on, you're not supposed to mess with what's already there, that's like a core scout thing!

Also to those saying these guys are hicks... actually that's not wrong lol

Apparently the longer a rock lies in a certain spot the more distressing it becomes for the human brain to see it moved.

I had a dog like that, he got upset if you moved a house plant.

It's just a bloody rock... was it being studied? was anyone going to learn anything from it? Did it serve any purpose at all? Did someone lose their cherry next to that rock?
Did it serve any purpose or have any actual value to anyone, beyond 'it's always been there'

The way I see it we can go with it being part of a tourist attraction that bring thousands of visitors to the place and pumps money into the local economy or it being part of an interesting geological formation that people thought was worth trying to preserve for future generations. I like the latter personally, but either one should be enough to stop people from knocking it down for no good reason.

Sure you can argue that it is only one rock out of thousands, but after a while it will add up if we let people get away with fucking shit up for no good reason.

Those guys looked like perfect fit for NPC's in GTA V.
"Yay, so we had nothing to do with our lives, so lets go and destroy something that has been there for millions of years, yayay!!".............. idiots.

While still absolutely shiteful, it feels a bit less bad to me. It is much more recent, and is man made. Absolutely a vital part of history, but destroying something that took 200 million years and natural forces alone to make seems more destructive to me. Eh, both are the work of fuckheads.
