NBA Live 14 debut trailer- Next gen is here

Looks like it's directly iterative of Live 10 which is a good thing, as that was the best one in years.

Animation jank is still visible. It won't be a better option than 2k14, but it leaves some hope for decent competitive a few years down the road.

That looks awful.

Did EA really think it would look cool in the trailer to have a random dribbling exhibition? This isn't 1997, NBA sims have allowed the ability to do dribbling moves for years.
EA Sports has always been oddly obsessed with the dribbling in Live. Not the first thing they need to be addressing...

The hunchback of notre dam?

2K14 it is.

I wanted to believe, but Live will never be able to capture the love I had for it. I'll never forget NBA Live 96 on my Sega. I lost months of my life to that game.

The dribbling looks good, some good foot planting, but the Defensive movements are slow and stiff. Looks like a good first step. Considering the alternative $60 bucks is a little too much for this title based on the trailers. I will give it a shot if the price goes down.

Looks completely outclassed by 2K14 in every visual way.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of the 2K gameplay... I feel like it's gotten really stale over the last five or six years. Over the last 10 years of basketball videogames, as graphics have gotten better, it feels like player control has gotten worse and worse... 2K12 was okay but I never felt like I was controlling my player, I felt more like I was pressing specific button combinations to watch a 1 on 1 animation take place on the court. On the defensive side, if I got beat by a player, I never felt that it was because I didn't anticipate a move... I felt as though it was because "crossover animation 4" is programmed to "break my ankles" 10% of the time, and 90% of the time force a back-off animation by the offensive player.

So, if EA can provide a compelling gameplay alternative in a basketball game, I'd be interested in it.

Will they? No, of course not.

Omg what the f... Cancel it already! Just give up, this is horrendous. How can you take 2 years off and release a shittier looking game then NBA ELITE 11, looks like it plays worse too. I was waiting for Jesus Bynum to show up in the middle of the court too. Funny how they didnt show LeBron, he is probably thinking thank God I went with 2K.

Visual wise, it doesn't come close to next gen NBA 2K14. I'll have to get some gameplay in my own hands before I start judging it. I'll more than likely still be sticking with 2K for my Xbox One launch, but I am really glad that the competition is back in the NBA game market.

The animations look fluid. 2K needs to show there game play. Hopefully its not robotic.

2K showed gameplay yesterday that trailer was all gameplay shown from different angles, and yes it does look like that and it animates like that as well.

From the Da_Czar who gets to go out and help with gameplay from the sim community who has played it often.

I have been asked a couple times. Yes the game actually looks like that while playing. Obviously on broadcast your further away.

What you mean? It's all gameplay using different camera angles which you can access with the replay camera in-game. If they wee going to use the the broadcast/gameplay camera , you wouldnt be able to see shit. For 2k they save vids and trailers with broadcast camera for How-to-play vids and just short clips of people actually playing the game a week or two before the game is out.

I mean exactly what i wrote. They look really good, close up, and obviously not what your gonna be seeing while you play (cinematic cameras).

...have they released an actual gameplay video? (normal camera angles)

Wut? Those animations looked so robotic in that trailer, did you even see the same trailer? It's the one in the OP

Yes it was much faster than 2K. The faces look horrible on some players, but amazing on others like Duncan. 2K should be better, but they have been so slow and robotic the last few years. Imo

So they showed 0.5 seconds clips of real game-play, very sneaky EA

Also why does every players have this fuzzy shine of their head, it looks really weird
Almost looks like all of them have jaggies growing out

It's not as glaringly awful as Elite and Live 13 looked, gameplay-wise. However, when you consider all the years EA Sports had to turn things around, this is a horrible end result.

All the slo-mo in the world isn't going to hide those awful rim physics, transitional animations, and the fact that everyone can soar through the air without bending their knees to start a jump.

like i said , a week or two before it's released :P

If they price this at $20-$30 as some sort of "Welcome Back" introductory price then MAYBE they can steal some of the 2K thunder. Especially from those gamers who only casually play sports games.

Well... I just made this for the screenshot thread but I guess I'll leave it here as well.

This must seriously be one of the best Fridays in 2K history. Those guys and gals are having a great day.

This is EA we're talking about.

They -should- be taking a page out of the 2K playbook but there is a 0% chance they do it.

EA should have cut a deal and had it replace Driveclub on PS+ but Sony probably would have made EA pay for them to put their game up.
