I hate it when people post things with zero context like they're in the know and can't be bothered explaining anything.

I don't like when in threads like "Better looking games of the 90s" or something, people just post tons of pics without giving any kind of clue of what the games are.

You just end up with a lot of posts quoting the picture to ask what game is that. At the very least put it in spoilers if it is so important that people recognize it before seeing the name.

Look at this random nobody dumb guy that was found deep on YouTube by some guy on Reddit. Isn't he/she so stupid? Lets bully him/her. Doesn't matter if it is some 13 year old girl.

Signing off at the end of every one of your posts with a meaningless platitude. I won't name any names, but Pimpwerx knows who I'm talking about. PEACE.

It doesn't really annoy me I just don't get why, rarely, people will sign their posts, like:

Sincerely,

GAF Username or RL name

But Franck is hilarious.

I hate whenever Madden is talked about, someone has to beg for a 2K football game. 2K doesn't want to fucking make football games anymore; let it go.

same thing whenever there's a capcom thread someone whines about megaman. I'm glad he's dead.

Tis better to avoid gaming side all together

OT gets way too depressing at times.

It's gotten a bit better since we've cooled down with the frequent disturbing news posting (seriously, fuck that shit) but sometimes we get a certain theme going like the recent relationship-wave where people ask all sorts of questions about if they should cheat or not and I kinda tuck myself over to Gaming side for a few days til it clears.

Tin foil hat psychology taking over threads. Everything is evil and out to get you. Especially the color pink.

People going on about "feels", especially concerning a video game character.

Or when people said they were getting sick from a silly torture scene in a video game. As if pressing L2 & R2, or whatever, are so much more "immersive" than all of the torture scenes from well crafted stories of the past. How excessively emotional can you be?

Where can I find some of that shit; sounds like a good read.

Boy, it would've been even more annoying if I'd decided to end my posts in "FIN." like I originally wanted to when I started on usenet. I got the idea from the french cartoons I watched growing up. Pink Panther and some toon about a shark and his pal ended their credits with "FIN." in capital letters. I always liked that, so I was going to end all my posts like that. Then I think "peace out" became a thing in the early-90s and...well...the rest is history.

Fuck yo script. :P PEACE.

Haha, Pimp, you're such a corny dude.

"Random Facebook/Youtube/Twitter idiot says something stupid" threads are generally locked on sight. Please PM a mod if you see one that isn't.

That made me immediately think about Gaborn. I tried to search whether he's posted any news lately, and found out he had passed away last year. =/ Damn, I didn't even know, as I don't visit OT very often. I always found his threads interesting, and I think I once defended him on one of his threads, when people were saying he shouldn't post such depressing/disturbing news here. RIP

When members refer or use the word GAF in their thread titles as if it was calling out for a person, a single entity, or a god.

"What do you think, GAF?"

"Talk to me about ________, GAF"

That's a curious reason to get ticked off. Its used as a term to encompass the community, the site, etc.

- Some of GAF's love affair with some journalists/media.

- "Forum celebrities". Threads derail because this one person said something.

- All Wii U threads turning to sales talk and/or trolling. I don't bother entering those threads anymore because it's always the same.

- Overused gifs, especially when used in the wrong context.

- "Lock if old"

- Birthday threads.

- "Discussions" where two parties don't actually discuss.

- Everything is either absolutely amazing or absolutely garbage, nothing in between.

- Someone asking GAF what he should buy instead of researching himself and/or not giving enough info for people to decide for him.

- Myself spending time on GAF

derrick ruins the gaming side for me. I've even openly questioned if he legitimately enjoys the hobby he loves to talk about so much. "I play video games often and it's always awful."

sometimes I think derrick is the only sane one in gaming side

You've got to be shitting me. He has absolutely ridiculous standards and goes out of his way to shit on games no matter how good they actually are. He has a gripe, nitpick, or bellyache about every single company, game, or developer choice and if he lives his regular life like the way he scrutinizes his hobby I am surprised he isn't in a perpetual state of misery.

Only one thing really annoys me, is the need for some people to post in every thread and not contribute. Just for the post count.

The only thing I don't like about Derrick 100% is his total aversion to anything Indie.

There's so much good there and I just cannot come to terms with this mentality.

I used to think that, but then he apparently plays and enjoys Assassin's Creed games? It's like there's two people using his account.

It's always exaggerations and absolutes. "crysis is the most unbelievably bad and terrible game ever created". Shit like that in every thread. It can't just be average, it's either the best or the worst, usually the latter.

I don't know actually that sounds like most of gaming side from what I read.

Gaming side is never ever happy with anything.

Yeah I don't think he enjoys life at all. I have put together a mental picture in my head of what he looks like and what he does but it's sort of condescending.

It's like, why game when you hate most games for the most asinine reasons?

When people try to be way too nice over the internet. It isn't very common, but I occasionally see it on YouTube among a bunch of hateful comments. They probably do that just to stand out, but it's just so unnatural.

People posting picture/gif reponses to threads that show spoilers from the show/movie/anime/whatever.

That's the thing I hate the most around here, as there's absolutely no way to avoid them when they pop up on unrelated threads. Often those spoilers start to come around within a week or two after something is released/aired. It doesn't really help, that most of the TV series are aired a bit later here in Europe.

I agree with the above bolded points - especially the discussion point. For as long as I've lurked and joined GAF, I've never really seen an ongoing discussion (besides OT/community threads, those are amazing) between OP and posters on a regular thread. Count me in for the "quoting OP's large text just to say yep" crap. I remember reading a MamaRobotnik analysis thread, and someone quoted the entire OP with something along the lines of "yep" or "cool thread". Infuriating.
