All badges acquired. Charizard laughed all the way through Gym 8, it was kind of disappointing

Anyway, I finally caught myself a Ditto in the Pokemon Village. I got a neutral nature male Scyther from a nice person on Wonder Trade and this Ditto has adamant nature; is that nature more likely to get passed on or is it completely random?

Give Ditto the everstone to hold and it will pass the adamant nature down 100%.

Breed? I've been out of the loop. Can anyone explain this or show me some good information, Thanks!

Long story short, after the second gym, you can make pokemon, including starters, have babies.

There's a lot of depth to it, but that's the gist of it.

New to me too!

Here's what you do though. Get two of any Pokemon, (might be limitations, not sure though) and make sure one is Female and one is Male (EDIT: Just to be clear, two of any same species Pokemon, i.e two Eevee, two Charmander, etc .. ). You put them both in the Day Care on Route 7. Eventually they will lay an egg. To "hatch" the egg you need to carry it in your party for a certain number of steps (unsure on exact amount).

If you have access to a Ditto (after you beat Elite Four) you can use a Ditto in place of one of the above. I don't think it matters the gender of the one you're trying to reproduce.

To help in the hatching of eggs, you can have a Fletchinder in your party who has a passive Ability called "Flame Body" which will HALVE the steps needed to hatch the egg.

Once it hatches, you have a Level 1 of whatever you're working for.

Double Edit: There is of course passive abilities that people talk about, but I haven't gotten that in depth yet, I just run a Pokemon sex farm without caring about attributes at this time.

Cool, so I finally beat the main game
and the postgame.
so all that's left now is to get my team, catch all the pokemon, and destroy everyone online!

Also, has anyone figured out that
ghost lady
stuff yet? I can't tell what the heck is going on or what I'm supposed to do about it.

Probably an Event trigger or something, same with the souvenir you get for talking to the guy in the hotel which has something to do with a different region

I'm on a Japanese version of the game, but playing in English. My Pokemon seem to count as coming from Japan (my Vivillon is Tundra, 3DS is set as Hokkaido). They don't have the JPN tag on their names though. For shiny breeding purposes, do my Pokemon count as being Japanese?

I can catch Ditto that have two perfect IVs every time. Want some of the love?

Dunno if the offer is open to others, but I'ld love a ditto just to get me started with breeding once I can double back to the daycare

Pokemon from your own region don't get that cool little tag, it's only if the Pokemon comes from another region that you see the tag on their status screen (so for example, if I traded you an Eevee, it would have the ENG tag on your end, which it never had on the status screen on my end) - so yeah they still count as Japanese Mons if you traded to another region version

Doesnt have to be two of the same species, from what I read yesterday, you need pokes from the same egg group, for example charmander, bulbasaur and squirtle all are from the monster egg group, put two of these together (a male charmander and a female bulbasaur) and you will get your egg. The egg will be the same species as the female (so a bulbasaur egg)

Pokemon are only tagged if they are foreign to you, no?
Obtain an American Pokemon.

Nice!

Roto, so how does one obtain two of the same starting pokemon to breed? And how is it easier than just trading with a friend who is starting?

Thanks.

Those tags are just for languages, not regions, I think. Wouldn't know if the Masuda method works with regions or languages though.

Playing the JPN version in english, I went for a non English non Japanese region Pokemon, that way whichever it is will work. A SPA one in particular.

Because there are a lot of people who aren't just starting the game who already have starters they can breed in like two seconds. It's easier for someone to breed new ones than for you to restart your game several times.

Just scored a nice deal on GTS. One of my many Charmanders for a Talonflame with Flamebody. This should speed things up a little :D

Doesn't actually have to be the same pokemon. Things that are vaguely similar can breed with each other (birds, field animals, fish...). Species will be the mother's. If you have a male, use a ditto to make a copy of it. The egg groups (the breeding categories) aren't listed in game though. Fansites usually post the information. If you don't have access to the info, testing is th only way to know. If the 2 mons have been in there a while and day care clerk says they aren't interested in each other, they probably don't belong to the same egg group. There's also pokemon w more than one group.

Some of these restaurant battles are pure bullshit. I was going through the 3-star double battle set, and I was on track for perfecting it. Then in the fourth battle, the opponent's Lucario uses Protect and screws up the turn count. Fuck you Lucario.

On the plus side, the experience and money that can be earned from that restaurant is great. I got 23 Balm Mushrooms from that run.

Agh, having to catch a Mareep through a horde battle just so I can have my mega Ampharos is a pain. That, and the one I did manage to catch turned out to be pretty shitty =/

I did this a few days ago, but didn't actually register at PGL until now:

In Laverre City people have a serious fetish for Pokémons above or under a certain size :P

I really love how all the cities and towns are designed. Except for Lumiose which is confusing.

So my Growlithe is learning moves way before he should be according to Bulbapedia's learnset section. Did they modify his level requirements for each move, or is it some side-effect of him being a traded Pokemon I don't know about?

I noticed my Alakazam learned Psychic at Lv. 46 as it's supposed to be. But maybe they changed things for some Pokémons? I hope there comes a guide soon that knows all the right stuff about moves in X/Y.

I caught a Zygarde with perfect bulk IVs. It's modest.

not-sure-if-want-or-not-want-thumb.jpg

It's special movepool is decent but it's BST belays a physical attacker as well as STAB earthquake being a thing.

EDIT: I forgot about the no eggs getting 3 perfect EVs thing. RESET

So the treasure that the Professor has hidden in that one town.. where is it? I know what it is, but I can't find it, have used the item radar and it doesn't detect anything in the town anymore.

Random breeding question:

Does using an Imposter Ditto while breeding give different results than using a Limber one?

Post game spoiler: Seriously, everytime I
go to the route to chase Articuno, it leaves to another route. I've played 20 hours of postgame and I've encountered it twice - both times by sheer luck. Is there a trick I'm missing? How can I chase it?

It changes routes when you do. Cut it off. Also, just another 10 times to go before it settles.
