Gotta catch 'em all

Unfortunately, Blastoise and Venusaur only get one Mega Evolution each. Because Game Freak practices favoritism, I guess. :K

They are alternately-colored Pokemon, and can be recognized by a special sparkly effect that they have when entering battle. For example, a shiny Charizard is black instead of orange, or a shiny Wingull has green stripes rather than blue.

They are ridiculously rare, though there are some ways to increase their likelihood of showing up. Most popular is the Masuda Method - if you breed two Pokemon from different regions (say, one Pokemon from the US and one from Japan) the likelihood of the hatched Pokemon being shiny increases by four times. Though they're STILL incredibly rare even with this method, so...

oooh! I have 2 differently colored Flabébé (no idea if same name, the little cute thing on the flower), so one of them is probably a shiny? Is it the one with slightly more HP?
Edit: None of the 2 is particulary sparkly though ^^

Lol the elite 4 and the champion was so easy, my level 61 Lapras with thunderbolt, ice beam, waterfall and surf did beat everyone solo....

Just used 2 full restores and some stuff to refill ice beam.

You guys weren't kidding about the elite four. That champion was a joke as I had no need to use healing items while battling that person.
I wasted a lot of hours exploring and I forgot that I had rock smash all the way so had to go back on several occasions. I like Y and X a lot more than Black. The world feels less barren and more diverse however the world is not as interesting as some past installment. Look forward to start IV training now. I have already EV trained 2 pokemons before completing the game just to see how Super Training works.

Roughly what levels were you when you beat E4?

Grinding for reset bags, get loads of doubles, strength and speed bags... It's a real shame there's only ten slots. Really wish you could get more, transfer them to your bag or the PC or something... Or just do a certain Super Training to reset.

Yes! Anything in particular you are interested in?

Anything notable? I don't really care what you give me as I have no use for it; just give me something of decent value.
Are you postgame? Maybe something reasonable from a friend safari.

I sent you a PM.

Goodra's like... "hey bro, you the man!"

Flabebe is actually a special case - it has several different forms it can take with differently colored flowers. There are a few Pokemon that have alternate colors that aren't shiny. Hippopotas, for instance, is very differently colored based on its gender.

You'll know for sure if your Pokemon is shiny if it sparkles when it comes into battle and if it has a red star on its status screen, right under where it shows its type.

Also, shininess has nothing to do with stats. It's just for bragging rights since they're so rare.

So should I turn off exp share? I want a bit more challenge and don't really feel like steam rolling everything in my path. My team of 6 are already near or are 30 and I haven't beat the 2nd gym yet.

So, before I go selling these Balm Mushrooms and Pearls I just want to confirm - there's no item maniacs this time around, right?

I'd say you should turn it off if you want it to be a bit more of a challenge.

The Elite 4 with 3D are AMAZING visually. Easily the best chambers in the series yet.

Insulting easy though coming from the other games. My level 50 Dragalge saved me in 2 occasions, that shouldn't be ok.

Is IV training in this game the same as others? How do you do it?

Didn't shinies used to be based on a specific IV spread? Is that not still the case?

That was only Gen 2. Hasn't been that way for ages. It's now based on the Personality Value of the Pokemon (a hidden, randomly generated number that determines IVs/Nature/Ability) and the trainer's Secret ID (a trainer ID number also hidden from the player that's used for redundancy in determining ownership).

While Lucario is trying to look away from him, "why do I have to hang out with this dweeb"

Goodra looks like he definitely tried to rush Pi Omega Kappa, to be honest.

And UGH. Defog has changed this whole metagame. Now I gotta get Defog on Togekiss so that means MORE BREEDING NO I THOUGHT I WAS DONE NEVER AGAIN.

What would be a good nature for a Phanpy? And is there some kind of guide to the Poke-Amie and Super Training? This is my first time trying to do the whole EV/IV thing.

Does anyone have an extra Ditto that I can have?

I don't have anything special (only at 3 badges). D:

EDIT: Thanks Zen_Arcade!
