This is perhaps my single most favorite in-game/main story team in the history of the franchise right here and that's with me still wondering if I want to keep Venusaur as an active member of the crew. I was massively overleveled for most of the latter half of Victory Road and the E4+Champ gauntlet but I still loved the stuff I saw and fought against. I can only hope that GF patches in challenge modes to fill their teams out and maybe bump the levels up by 10 or 20.

Oh for reference since I almost forgot:

Jolteon Lv. 79 - Modest; Volt Absorb; Thunderbolt/Hidden Power Fighting/Substitute/Pin Missile (lol)
Gardevoir Lv. 70 - Modest; Synchronize; Calm Mind/Psychic/Moonblast/Focus Blast
Garchomp Lv. 61 - Jolly: Sand Veil; Fire Fang/Earthquake/Dragon Claw/Swords Dance
Blaziken Lv. 76 - Jolly; Speed Boost; Protect/Flare Blitz/Swords Dance/High Jump Kick
Greninja Lv. 77 - Timid; Protean; Surf/Ice Beam/Dark Pulse/U-Turn
Venusaur Lv. 69 - Modest; Overgrow; Substitute/Leech Seed/Energy Ball/Sludge Bomb

Garchomp is the most impressive late entry into the team. Imagine my face when I found out the Gible I caught on a moment's whim (trying to fill the team for member #6 to replace my Hawlucha HM slave) was not only the bestest nature but (after visiting the guy that checks IVs) also had perfect IVs in Attack and Speed? I might permanently keep him for legacy's sake if I don't decide to breed for one with Outrage and maybe Stealth Rock in the future. (Dragon Claw is pretty good with 80 BP + STAB bonus making it 120, but I wonder if it'd be more worthwhile to make it have something stupid powerful.)

Now then onward to a quest that may be even more noble and arduous than becoming champion -- time to get paid and fresh son. Luminose here I come! :lol

Does anyone have a very basic overview of IVs?

I understand what they are. And how they help.

But I have no way to tell what IV's I have, how do I know if they're great? How do I breed them to a perfect child

You in the postgame? The town with the friend safari's pokemon center has a guy who can give you a general judge and tell you the highest IV.

First Event Legendary reveal soon?

*crosses fingers for Regidark to represent the european dark ages*
It would also tie in nicely with Hoenn.

Story time.

After getting my third badge, I continued on my journey and encountered a horde of Wingull. Many Supersonics, vehement curses and an Ultra Ball later, I felt relief at the fact that would never have to fight a Wingull horde ever again.

Very next encounter. Wingull horde with a shiny. Thankfully, the shiny was in the middle of the horde so it was easy not to hit it by accident. Still, it was only many Supersonics later that I got my first shiny of the game, Franklin the Wingull. At least he has a not terrible nature (Mild; raises Special Attack and lowers Defense, which, being a non-competitive battler, I'm fine with).

I still need to get a Pinsir, though. All of the ones I try to catch, I always critical hit!

I decided I was gonna try and get a perfect IV Ditto, so someone with a ditto safari was nice enough to add me. One problem though, I've got no idea wtf I'm doing.

edit: Good thing gaf is nice enough to give me great pokemon (thanks macklelol and Anilusion). Now I need to get four other people to complete my team, haha.

Catch all the Dittos you see and you still won't find one.
Go hunt for a Shiny instead.

Catch a bunch of Ditto, have the judge guy look at them. If he says every stat is good and describes it as "can't be beat" or whatever, then it has perfect IV's.

Well... fuck. Another shiny, this time in Victory Road while trying to level some of my Eeveelutions. Caught it with Ultra Ball turn one, was trying to use a quick ball but hit wrong thing. Guess I now have a shiny weight lifting clown.

Yeah i've been to him.. but other than knowing that my speed stat is good.. i have no clue what my others are, if they're perfect, or how to even get perfect IV's.. all bulbapedia has is a giant list of maths equations :(

If a stat is perfect he'll say at the end "Stats like this can't be beat!". If there's more than one he'll list them all. If he's not saying that then none of them are.

Can you find shiny Pokémon in friend safari?

Yup. Found 3/4 of mine there.

Don't feel bad; it took me 60 hours in X to find my first one. Also, tipping people apparently raises your chances of encountering a shiny.

I'm starting to believe that. Throughout the game I tipped 1000 every time I got the chance (except the ghost story guy because of what he said would happen if I didn't and then nothing happened).

Guess I have to wait for people to breed perfect tyranitars, noiverns, mawiles and phantumps then.

Get a Ditto with the nature you want from the safari. It'll have 2 perfect IVs. Then use everstone and destiny knot, and eventually you'll get the nature and IVs passed. Then take pokemon with the nature and the two perfect IVs and breed it with a different ditto with two different perfect IVs. Eventually you'll get a pkmn with 4 perfect IVs. Continue switching pokemon until you get the 5 that you want.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong. lol

Really??

I still haven't found a single shiny in my 90 hours of X and Y combined. Sigh...

Took me 70 hours before I found my first, which was of course an immediate safari catch. Try hanging around a safari with Pokemon you like for a few hours and maybe that'll change.
Tipping for shinies is a rumor.

I won't be surprised if it turns out to be true, though.
I won't be surprised if it turns out to be false. There's nothing to back it up besides lucky people who have happened to find shinies while also tipping.

I have tipped EVERY single time I've been asked - 1,000 every time. And not seen a single shiny.

Hey guys, whats a good level I should evolve Scyther into Scizor? Seems like Serebii and Bulbapedia data is outdated. Anyone with the official guide have any info on moves it learns later on?

Currently sitting at 50 (what I caught it at), but I'm thinking of bringing him through the Elite 4 with me.

All that wasted money...

I guess I could trade the 2 IV Dittos I caught for other safari pokemon that I can use to breed.
