Just evolved a Sylveon to add to my Jolteon. Team all Eeveelutions is coming along nicely. What's the quickest way to increase friendship without too many battles. I want to get Espeon and Umbreon evolved without learning too many of Eevee's normal-type moves rather than the type-specific moves of the evolutions. Is there a way to check the current friendship level?

Back-tracked to catch a Pikachu this weekend holding a Light Ball.
Show a friend the game at breakfast and explain what I'm doing.
He catches one, and it goes to the box.
Hours later I go to look, he nicknamed it loser, and it happened to be Shiny. So now I have a shiny loser Pikachu.

Yup. Just got a Shiny Clawitzer (Shiny #5). Lost count of the chain but it wasn't that high. 20-30 if I'd have to guess.
EDIT: just checked. Chain was 20 (Highest chain 21 because I fished once more after).
Using Super Rod with a fainted Suction Cup Octillery in lead.

The shard tutors have never been in the initial batch of a Gen. Though you can learn the starter moves from Tutors, and there is a guy in a house near Victory Road where you can learn Draco Meteor (i taught it to my Kingdra and Noivern).
Only thing I came across that I can remember off the top of my head was a guy who taught Grass/Fire/Water moves that could be used in double battles as combos.

HOLY SHEEET RANDOM SHINY!
I was just filling out my Pokedex, breeding to get a few first-stage evolutions that aren't available any other way, and out of nowhere this little guy popped out. I guess I was technically Masuda-Methoding it, because the parent was a Conkeldurr I got in a Wonder Trade with my own Ditto, but this was literally the first and only egg I ever planned to hatch with those two. I almost missed it, too, because I'm almost positive he didn't sparkle when the egg hatched. I only had this nagging feeling that he was a different colour than he was supposed to be, but I get that feeling a lot when a new Pokemon game comes out and they change all the sprite/model colours slightly (I've caught so many non-shiny Pokemon just in case
).
His nature's Mild, which does him no favours, but according to Mr Intriguing Potential in Kiloude he has a perfect attack IV! No egg moves, though. This is my absolute favourite kind of shiny, because if I hadn't hatched him I probably would never have given Conkeldurr a second look. I honestly didn't even remember which Gen he was from, and now I've got a whole new thing to play around with.

Yup. Resets if you get 'not even a nibble' also if you leave and go into a house (probably if you leave route too, maybe if you leave the exact spot. Best to just sit your ass down and fish till you get one).
You can run from battles to just fish up with a nice strong Poké with False Swipe in lead or slot 2 (if you want Suction Cups of Synchronize) and just run until you see a Shiny.

So are people having duplicates of the legendaries on GTS, I'm just curious why there are so many up for trade or do people just not care about having them and want other things?

Encounters are traditionally tied to grid-based steps in tall grass/water/&c., so I guess GF hasn't found a solution yet (every other situation seems fine, just base the pedometer on how many steps you take).

Yeah, the 8-sided movement has made precision navigating for item pickup and whatnot into a bit of a chore. The Bike helps, but that doesn't come for a while.

Would anyone mind providing an explanation of how to breed for perfect IVs and a beneficial nature?
Must have found every fossil ten times now (excluding the X exclusives) but still no Cover Fossil!
Do you know if the fossils come with their hidden abiities? I've been looking for a Lileep with storm drain for a very long time :/

I used d-pad for most of the game, just because of the grid system. You can still move diagonally.
I felt that way at first but after a bit, skating feels great. Popping in and out of the grid still feels weird, but after I got used to the skates, I would definitely use them all the time even if normally walking was analog.

so the fishing thing definitely works, just got a shiny skrelp after a chain of 15 or so. Ran from every encounter until then.
