I think the fishing chaining works guys.

Just on chain #4, a Shiny Relicanth appears for me.

Apparently I'm not cool enough for the Lost Hotel. What do I have to be wearing here to proceed? I have an entire outfit from one store on right now, so it's not like I'm not coordinated enough.

That's one of the benefits your Pokemon gets from gaining hearts in PokeAme.

They start getting needy and always needs words of encouragement and always glance back at you.

On the plus side, they gain bonus exp and can self cure themselves of status elements!

I did my first playthrough as a nuzlocke run.

It was both fun and annoying. I didn't use the exp. share, so it became a proper challenge, but not too hard(If I lost many pokemon, I'd just activate the exp. share for a quick fix to train newcomers).

Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't require you to grind when playing without the exp. share. I just played through it like any other normal run.
The annoying part was almost only getting boring pokemon(Sooo many normal-types) and not as may 6th gen pokes I'd hope for.

Still, the last part of the game was really fun to nuzlocke and I triumphed over the champion with only 3,5 pokemon left(One was just Snorlax the HM-slave. Also had no more pokemon left in the box either)

Its not over powered in a sense. Look into the pokeradar in diamond pearl and platinum.(its back in this game). Shinies just jump at you with that thing. And I'm sure it will again in this one.

...Wait, what's this about bonus exp. That's not a plus side! Aww.. oh well.

So if they jiggle a bit it's fine, and if they look back mid-battle I need to give 'em a bit of special treatment in Amie? Hmmm.

Nah, looking back means they just love you lots. This is gained from getting more hearts for them in Amie. The more they have, the more they look back at you after every move wanting your every word of approval. (and love).
 
When a Pokemon looks back at you (besides the start of the battle), typically when you KO a Pokemon (before you're told how much EXP and stuff you get), rub the screen to pet them on the head.
 
I wish eggs stacked up to 5 at the breeder, that way you could leave your Pokemon for a while, then come back and get 5 eggs at one time.

My only reason for not getting this to happen is fear of heart attack. I'm already in danger just by petting them.
 
So .... are people in agreement that the best route to getting a useful Shiny is to either breed or use Friend Safaris?

Seems like FS are a good way of making sure you get something good. Plus, it's a whole lot faster than eggs and it kinda acts like chaining with the radar in that you can only get 2-3 kinds of Pokemon there.

Aw man, I gotta try this with my Growlithe. He's so cute and always jumps at me when I visit him on amie <3
 
After 8 eggs, I already have a Brave Honedge with 31 IV's in HP, Atk, Def, and Sp Def. This is amazing. Debating on whether or not I should spend another 10 minutes to also give it 31 speed even though it doesn't need it.

Do you have a Ditto you'd be willing to trade or heck, some random Hondedge? :)
All I need are Friend Safari Dittos and no-one has them yet or they haven't beaten the Elite 4. :(

I'd take that Honege off you if you find a better one :D
 
After a ~20 chain, a few chains I stupidly accidentally broke at 15, I finally got a shiny Relecanth at a 12 chain. All evidence points to this working. Neat! Now trying at a different area. Currently at a 55 chain with nothing. Lets see how this goes.

It's better to have a low speed because of how it's ability works. A slower bulkier Pokemon like Reunculus could 1-shot you if you're stuck in Sword form because you attacked 1st.

Also could I have one of your failures? As long as it has like 1 or 2 perfect IVs it would make breeding for a good one much faster for me lol.

If you want something useful, breed it. You can guarantee at least 5 perfect IVs and the nature and any egg moves you want. It'll probably take longer, but it's definitely worth it.

Using FS is for when you just care about it being shiny and aren't that worried about how good it actually is.

All I did was put Eevee's and some Torchics up to get the Safari Ditto's I have now, and sadly I don't currently have any spares.

I have 3 failures (because it did only take 8 tries) with ok stats:

1st - HP, Sp Def, Spd
2nd - hp, atk, sp def
3rd - def, sp def
 
Is there a complete list of Pokemon not in the game? Or does this Friend Safari thing make it possible to catch everyone? As much as I hate the extension from other games I'd rather them create a Wii U that has access to some exclusives or something.
