Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Check your local Gumtree. I got a Vita off there, 3G model, with a 32GB card, 8GB card and a carry case for £150. People sell things for silly low amounts there.

Unfortunately I don't live in the UK. The only deal available to me, that I know of, is the Amazon one where you get a free Killzone/Soul Sacrifice if you buy a Vita.

Ah, apologies. I just saw a £ sign in a previous post and presumed you were. Don't you have a local sales site like it you can check? People receive them as unwanted presents quite a lot it seems, and they just sell them off without knowing their true value.

I'm actually kind of amazed that they have a Vita SDK. I'd assumed that Sony has some kind of vetting process on what they allow on the platform.
Thing is, if they put the bar too high they end up like Microsoft, getting lots of criticism for being unwelcoming to developers. And in this case, the developer certainly had a solid list of credits to point to:

At the helm of Escape Hatch Entertainment is industry veteran Garry M. Gaber. After graduating from New York University with a degree in Cinema Production, Mr. Gaber worked in the Engineering industry, honing his skills as a 3D artist and working as a programmer as well. Starting with LucasArts in 1994, he contributed art to several outstanding LucasArts titles including Star Wars Jedi Knight, Star Wars Rebel Assault II, and Armed and Dangerous. Working as a project leader, lead artist, and designer on Star Wars Force Commander, Mr. Gaber then moved on to project lead and design Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and its subsequent expansion pack Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns.
Issues with the game probably stem more from the same place as other disappointing Kickstarter projects - the team promised too much, and asked for too little time and money.

Any word on what games will replace the "evergreen" Uncharted GA and Gravity rush, for the EU PSN?
The time they take to announce them is killing me. Not that I need the games now, but just that it's still unknown(to me at least, but there seems to be lots of comments under the blog posts, so there could be some hint about what's next)... I mean, it pretty big milestone, with 1 year of PS+ for the Vita and they immediately used two of the best games for the system to promote the service. And I really wonder what is there, that they have a good chance on putting it for free for a whole year and be at least as good as Uncharted and Gravity rush...

Everything here is more expensive. It's way cheaper to just import, and we never get any good deals. We actually had a Vita price drop but it still ends up being more expensive here.

A lot of people were wondering the same, but a reply on the PSN blog claimed they had no intention of changing the games any time soon :(.

Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God comes out on December 10th!!!
Wooo I was expecting 2014 at the earliest.

I've been using the standard one. No idea how the defense one limits you as I've never used it.
Have you tried just-guarding attacks? It's easy to bait out one of his/her combo attacks at close range, and the projectiles can give you a nice chunk as well.

Yeah, I figured that out eventually... but it didn't help so much once the transformation/replacement happened.

The defense one makes your defense go up and your attack go down.

Awesome, time to finally buy BoS!

BoS?

I kinda thought that but glossed over it in all the sale items.
Those are just kind of graphic novels without a lot of heavy gameplay, right?

Right! I haven't played BoS, but the first game is great and controls like a 16bit RPG without the battle system and menus. Killer sound design with headphones too.

I can't seem to find any information about a UK/Euro release :( Guess i'll have to import.

For some reason I really want that collectors edition with the bib, spoon and plate. Damn you impulsive urges!

Hey, can anyone recommend any head phones for gaming with the vita? Will any old pair do?
Yup, anything with a 3.5mm jack will work fine - or you could get a bluetooth set if you want to spend. I use the Pulse Elite with the cable, or a pair of Bose in ear jobs that I use for my iPhone.

Maybe there will be a download release, who knows.

I can't see myself getting a collectors edition ;__; I don't think I want to stock up on baby stuff when I'm 20 and single. lol

It's possible Aksys will do a surprise digital only release like they did with Muramasa.

I do hope so. It looks fun.
That reminds me I must pick Muramasa up. Damn you 8gb card juggling!

Hey i'm 38 and single... I may of had a few ales tho

I can't even legally have a beer yet ;__; Oh well. xD

Downloading Hotline Miami atm. Tell me VItaGaf is it good or is it just hype?

What do you have to do in the Beta?
Just started playing hotline myself. Was afraid it was all hype or a really hard game (heard you'd die alot), but it really delivers imo. Nice pick up and play gameplay and it's fast too, so dieing doesn't really matter. Just press x (I think :p) and run in a second time. Love it!

Ok, I'm in - just ordered an import Vita 2000 (blue/white model.) I have been playing my 3ds constantly, and leaving my PS3 to collect dust, so it was time for another portable gaming system! I have PS+, so I have a nice collection to start with (member since June.) I can't wait to get it and start playing - now maybe I can catch up on all those PSP j-rpgs I missed due to basically disliking the analog nubs on my PSP? Can't wait for the new Ys game as well. All my friends think I'm crazy, but I don't care - I think the Vita is going to make it, at least for the games I enjoy!

You need some new friends.
Like us.

Welcome, new Vitamuffin.

Be cautious until reviews for Sorcery, it had low ratings due to bugs.

Also it's, what, 9AM 23rd Japan? Last day to get Miku F2 demo from JPN PSN, final reminder!

Welcome! You will love VitaGAF, easily the best place on this great forum.

Vita is struggling in several aspects, but as for jrpgs, I think you won't find a better platform. Some of the best titles of this and past generations can be played on it and they look and play great for the most part. Also, if you like FF to some degree, Vita is the console to have.

So Corpse Party and Book of Shadows is a series of horror adventure games? If so, I'm in 100%.

The first one is horror adventure (like old school Zelda or 16bit jrpgs but without menus) while the second one is a visual novel. You should take a look at the trailers for both on YouTube to get a better feel for how each plays. Btw, both are extremely gruesome games. Not for everyone but great games still if you like the genre.

Edit: For those buying any of the Corpse Party Titles just now, you HAVE to play them with headphones. Easily on of the games with best sound effects of the PSP.

Been desperate for a Vita for a while but price was an issue. Thanks to the Argos sale that a kind GAFer posted on here I now am a proud owner of a Vita.

Early impressions are it's gorgeous and I'm enjoying it so far. Just downloaded all the PS+ games I've collected and now will look on the store for PSP games I've missed.

Looking forward to the recommendations from GAF for games and will visit this thread alot more now

Welcome!

You should be set with your PS+ games for a while, but let us know which kinds of games you like so we can give you better recommendations.

But regardless of what you like, get P4G. It is THAT awesome.

If you're not jonesing for any particular game, PS+ and P4G will be all you need for the first few months.

I'm 20 minutes in and I'm having a blast. Wow I should have trusted Gaf more, it wasn't just hype the game is great.

I am going to platinum this for sure.

Has anyone bought Lego Marvel for Vita? Any impressions?

Watched a short gameplay video on Youtube, and this is what I got from it- graphics looked better than other Lego games on the Vita, but it is level based with an isometric view, it lacks character swapping, lacks an openworld, seems to lack a hub, and looks to pretty much be a Lego beat 'em up, which can be controlled entirely with the touch screen.

Here's the video in question- http://youtu.be/5JYprSjdPc4

Okay, I just bought a Vita and I'm loving it for the mos part. But damn.... the battery life is shit. I probably should have held off for the 2000, what with reports of like 10 hours of battery life.

^OLED worth the battery juice- keep it plugged in (:P) / get a portable charger (pretty cheap)

Fine, there's a Starlight Inception US beta code in this post, for whoever wants it.
