Pokémon XY |OT2| Would you like to leave a tip?

Can someone explain how petting pokemon during battle works? I've read up on it and even watched videos on it but it doesn't work for shit in my game.

You rub the screen during the KO sequence of the opposing pokemon, right? Well I've literally done it 10 battles in a row and it isn't working...

Do I need a certain level of affection or does this only work on specific pokemon or is my god damn game broken?

He's much more counterable in 3v3 than in full team battles, to be fair. Gives your opponents less options to clear out your Blaze counters. He's fairly frail, so any hits you can get on him are likely to do major damage. Priority moves and bulky mons that resist getting OHKOed by him are likely to take him out fairly quickly. Also, mind games with Shadow Sneak Aegislash work really well if you pull them off.

I'm still mad that Hall of Origin was never officially accessible, not even in platinum.
The reason I hate the 3 Gen V events not named Victini is because you don't fight them, ever.
 
I'm absolutely in love with all the new breeding changes in X/Y, because I've spent so much time over the years doing it the hard way. I had a Modest Gardevoir with 31/29/31/31/31/31 in Emerald, when all you had was a 50% chance of passing a nature with the Everstone and no Destiny Knot or Power Items to speak of. Took something like a week of straight breeding :P

I didn't do much breeding from D/P onwards after they changed it so that eggs hatched at Lv 1, because having to save, Rare Candy and soft reset after every single egg just to have any idea of what its IVs were was too monotonous for me, but now I can just rely on the Intriguing Potential guy in Kiloude to tell me what I've got. Perfect IV Safari Dittos, the Destiny Knot, Hatching O-Power, hereditary hidden abilities, females passing egg moves, 100% nature passing, that gigantic route outside the Daycare to ride along one-handed while doing other stuff, an in-game IV checker; it's like a dream come true.
 
So what's a good competitive pokemon that carries an electric move as a staple? Doing Battle Maison right now and working on making a good team of 3 to take online and eventually flesh out into a full team of 6.

Right now I'm rocking a Breloom, fully bred and trained, (also bred a shiny while working up to 5 perfect IVs two days ago, my first!), Charizard Y, and Greninja. But I get rocked by a freaking Mantine of all things because it rain dances and has swift swim. And I can't seem to find a good pokemon that carries an electric move on its set on smogon. Any suggestions?

Was thinking of training up a Garchomp next for ideal usage/nature/moves and everything, and might just put thunder fang on it if there aren't any better options?

Also any good pokemon as a third for a team of Breloom and Garchomp?
 
Anyone know how to IV breed two particular stats on a genderless pokemon?

I can only breed it with ditto, and I don't have ditto in anyone's safari, so I'm kinda at a loss for how to do this right...
 
So, question. I just traded my Haunter for another Haunter - I thought this was supposed to trigger its evolution. Was I mistaken? I've never actually done the whole "trade to evolve" thing before, but I had thought he would evolve immediately.

What two IVs do you need? I think I have every combo of perfect IV dittos from a friends safari.

Was the haunter holding an item called an Everstone? Doing so prevents evolution.

EDIT: Make sure you box this pokemon in the next few mins, otherwise it could lose the rus depending on your timezone.

Thanks mate! I used the markings to indicate which IVs were perfect so you should be able to keep track of it (Attack, Def, Sp. Att, Sp. Def, Speed, HP are the pattern I use). So that one has the second and fourth marking filled in!
