Must have been a second dGPUer lol. Im surprised Senjutsu Sage is absent from this thread.

So now we move into the next phase where resolution doesn't matter again?

I really hope this improves over time once developers learn the in's and out's of the system but something tells me this conversation will never really go away.

Sad to think how long this would have went on for if the insiders didn't break the news to us on here. Sad to also think how long it will be until OFFICIAL confirmation.

It's pretty embarrassing that a next-gen console in 2013 is playing a current gen up port in 720p. Really gotta wonder how badly gimping the XB1's power is going to end up biting MS in the ass.

See also this post of mine regarding resolution and viewing distance.

This stuff is madness.

All I can say is, I sit across the room from a 50 inch 1080p TV, and it looks poor when games run at 720p (muddy/blurry). I don't really get why we are even having this discussion though. You are paying $500 for a 2013 next gen console, and the competitors console is $100 less, and runs games at 1080p...

Why do people who never would but an X1 spend so much time caring about it? Also it's a rumor with zero proof, what cboat said you guys eat up of course. But why wasnt he talking about cod having issues before this thread, I'm buying both consoles and think these console wars are a joke for kids. I care about the games, which is why I also have a Wii u and will enjoy all 3 consoles. Wish some people grew up already.

why do we watch films in imax, close up..or normal screens? and enjoy their quality and resolution..? or are you frustrated at viewing angles at the movies? everything is so muddy?

shouldn't we be sitting In the parking lot to enjoy movies on the big screen?

What distance do you sit from your television, what size is it?
*most* people sit far enough that 720 / 1080 isn't going to be much of a muchness.

thank.you

soooo.fucking much for noticing the phase, lol. so.fun to watch.

Here is the absolute truth as I know it. I''ve posted this before and I think people took it as my opinion but it's not my opinion, it's the thoughts of people who know.

In february Sony shocked the fuck out Microsoft with both the console and timing of their console. Of course no time was given... but it was obvious that it was this year. MS was looking for a release between this fall and next spring (and any engineer here can tell you that means next spring).

Microsoft never recovered from that.

Here they are with a console sooner than they planned. It's in less countries, it has dick for Kinect support, basic shit like USB harddrives are pushed until next year, the messaging has been a mess.

Kinda sounds like they rushed it. Doesn't it?

That's not to say everything sony has done is perfect... in fact they've fucked up quite a few times... but microsoft has dropped the ball so many times that no one cares about Sony's fuck ups.

Interesting. So in your opinion/knowledge of the situation, do you think the low resolution of launch titles has to do with the cluster of madness surrounding the console or is it based more on the actual specs?

It's ok, 4 years from now when the Xbox One hardware is mastered, the people will have their 1080P Halo with no jaggies!

Well in June hell as of today nobody has actually seen a Ghost disk inserted into a One and played in the demos shown, at that point MS was still hauling gaming rig PC's to the expos to show off the games.
So the actual developer doesn't know what he's talking about?

2 hours since I started reading this thread and I'm still at page 33 of 36. I can't seem to catch up to this never ending craziness.

Edit: oh my, a wild CBoAT appears!

Educate yourself before you prepare space in your mouth for your foot.

I have a 23in PC monitor for my display and I can tell the difference between 720p vs 1080p very easily. So yes it does matter when you sit 3-6ft from your main display.

So then why does MS even bother having games push for 1080p if it really doesn't matter. I mean, if there target audience is the "casual gamer" who supposedly can't tell the difference, due to their living room set up - why waste the money/time and resources on making their own games 1080p.

Might as well just sell the system on 720p but having extra features, and be done with it.

I just cant believe microsoft thought at any point that it was ok to wait until next year for a new console regardless of what sony was doing. Waiting until this holiday for new consoles was seriously pushing it.

I understood this fully, that shit is not fair at all. I had giving MS benefit of the doubt and still will if this rumor is false, but I will be so quick to jump ship it aint even funny. Its not the fact that COD is not 1080p its the fact that the xbox just cant easily do it. I mean 360 been doing 720p for awhile, why do I upgrade MS? Are you nuts?

Most PS3/360 games run at sub-720p and are upscaled to 720/1080p, I believe. You're still getting an upgrade in resolution with Xbone, it's just not always going to be to full 1080p.

The human eye can't process more than 720p anyway

... I think you need to do some research about how this really works. Viewing distance and screen size impact how well we process resolution. On my TV size, at the distance I'm at, I can most definitely tell the difference between 720p & 1080p
