New gameplay screenshots of The Order 1886

Please have horror elements game. Please. I'm not asking for REmake here. Just...RE4 level is perfect. Please. If you do that, you'll be my most hyped title of 2014.

are you really saying the dog in ghosts is innovative? really?

Im not trying to argue with you, im just saying that its really early to have that big of a stance on the order when we havnt even seen real gameplay.

I was saying that COD features new mechanics. Never said those mechanics were innovative. And yes, there hasn't been any real Gameplay shown off yet. But just from the screens and info already released I know my biggest gripe with the game is that it's going to be cover-shooter, something which I've already seen a lot of the past few years. And I would rather see RAD working on something original rather than just another TPS, even if it has a interesting setting.

Anyone else think this is probably the best lighting seen so far? I'm amazed at how real it looks.

I think this looks pretty fucking great. The lighting is impeccable, and the image quality looks to be damn good as well. They need to tone down on the chromatic abberation though, too much is used. Oh, and as said many times, the character models are excellent, love their styling.

I'm especially allergic to those since I absolutely loathe this - sadly, still ongoing - trend of showing the game world through a movie camera lens and post production effects rather than character's eyes.

It's a 3rd person game. You are experiencing the game through a camera, not though a person.
That is up to interpretation. My take on this is that this is not a movie but a game.

Intentionally degrading image quality by applying film camera and other post processing effects is harmful when you think about games as their own art form. Why make games look like they're "filmed" through a lens, and a low-quality lens for that matter, is beyond me.

Anyways... I don't have a problem with all of these effects, as long as you can turn them off. If you can't, well, there won't be a purchase from me.

Its pretty good, volumetric based lighting always adds allot.
Also looks like it has some nice global illumination effects that bounces lights around. Looks pretty realistic to me!

such a fun and original setting.

such a boring and "by the numbers" looking game.

I want to be so much more excited about this game than I can actually bring myself to be.

Would LOVE to be wrong.

Eh, I'm pretty ambivalent on this so far. I want to see screenshots at higher res and IQ, and ideally a good quality gameplay video.

Looks awesome, can't wait to see some gameplay.

Their PSP output was excellent, I have faith based on their track record.

Everything looks real good. Very tastefull.

I hope there a few interesting wrinkles to the universe. Something like Space 1889 where float wood, basically anti-gravity wood, is discovered and you get space exploration in the Victorian Age. Venus is a swamp planet with beast men and Mars has a strange alien civilization.

That screenshot reminds me, I hope the game has some sort of loot system to make scavenging a lot more useful and encouraging.

Weapon mods for example, different type of health potions etc...

Maybe even a small crafting system like TLOU were you can make small explosives or something.

I hope they keep the super nature stuff secret, don't ever show any concept art/screenshot/video of them ever. Keep that part mystery.

The Order looks better than those two by a mile, however Beyond is nothing to scoff at. Could easily pass as an early next gen title:

This is all real time direct feed btw.
Of course Beyond is nothing to scoff it, it looks gorgeous, but it's also very, very limited in its design and amount of things happening on screen. The Order does completely new things far above what Beyond does in-game.

Yeah, I feel the same. It's annoying that the primary way to interact with this wonderfully created world is through shooting and taking cover.

Looking at how soft these screens are... I wonder if they are using a wide reconstruction filter for their MSAA samples like TXAA. That would explain a lot of the softness and the heavy lack of aliasing on almost every object.

It would make sense given their visual design goals of being filmic (grain, lack of specular aliasing, CA, apect ratio, etc...)

Really liking the visual aesthetic to the game so far; to people complaining about it not looking "clean", keep in mind the game's supposed to take place in 1886. I assume the devs are taking cues from film imperfection techniques from then up to the early 20th century. Not all of them or the ones that'd make it look cheesy of course, but the influences are there.

I think it all works pretty well w/ the color palette for the game.

Honestly, if you upped the IQ and improved the textures, the game would look 98% as good as the Dark Sorcerer demo from E3.
