Because of the voices?
I saw that video and I agree with everything.
The constant voices "she went there, she opened the door"... the nonsense story with no stakes.
I cared about Dillion and I wanted that story.
The sequel just seems pointless story wise and annoying with voices.
And I don't care there is not a lot of gameplay. I like cinematic games.... but the return of shit match puzzles .. I rolled my eyes when I heard that. Worst part of 1.
I can't honestly criticize it without playing it though. Order 1886 or forspoken both looked like shit before I played them...
This is why I loved hellblade 1. Amazing trailer and moment straight from the game

I only got my ps4 in 2017 so I wouldn't know...
but I would buy that game in a heartbeat for 60$ with this production values. why not?

Multiple people have explained why... the gameplay. You know, the element of an object that defines it as a game?

This is just one of those things, you're not engaging with the things people see as negatives of the game. Which is fine, everyone has an opinion; go on social media these days and you can find many people defending the Star Wars prequels as great movies. Same thing going on here with this, which for me barely even earns the title of "game" let alone "great game".

To see someone (anyone) compare this to the likes of TLOU2 is utterly laughable.

I still remember people clowning on this game back in 2013 due to how short the game is for $60 and for very shallow gameplay, all the way back in the day gaf.

Pepperidge farm remembers.

I compare it to tlou2 graphically.
Gameplay is just gears of war. Maybe a tad shorter but I really enjoyed it

Gameplay is not "gears of war". So you're also not really engaging with what people mean by "gameplay".

Which again is fine. Just saying. And no one has an issue that you "enjoyed it". That too is fine. But there's a big difference between getting enjoyment out of something and calling it a "good" game, or offering good value as a game.

It barely counts as a game. One of the biggest swindles in gaming history but because some people value graphics over anything else, we end up with revisionist threads like this ten years later.
This post 1000x

People are seriously acting like this game wasn't buffoned and 20 dollars in a few months. It was a launch game tech demo that released years too late to be properly forgotten as it should've been. You don't see threads like this for RYSE

ps4 november 2013
1886 ebruary 2015.
YEARS LATE.

It is a game. I played it for 9 hours. Have you seen video I posted? Of me running around and shooting? That's me. video Gaming
60$ my fucking ass. Games should be 160$ nowadays to sway off these cheap asses.

Gaming sucks nowadays because it has to be 60fps and because games have to be 50000 hours to justify "70$" to poor people.
If games were 170$ at least people would be too poor to buy them and complain.
WE had 60-70$ for forever. This argument never made sense. Games were 50-60$ on nes ffs.

I was very happy to pick up order 1886 and finish it in an evening and half. Not having to spend 3 weeks playing it.
And I think I would be just as happy in 2015 (I wouldn't buy it back then because I was poor)

Poor people ruin gaming

edit: What I am saying is that it was refreshingly linear and short in times of open world 50 hour long games. Not every game has to be this short but it's nice to play one here and now.
I am not buying COD games anymore because I don't play multiplayer and single is not worth 70$ for me

There’s nothing to explore or savor in the game, it’s almost entirely on rails. Even the collectibles that are there are just on the path the devs choose for you, pretty much the only way to miss them is to wander too far forward that you trigger the next cut scene and leave the area. You’re trying to defend a game with four hours of content 😆😆😆

Perfect comparison is RE4. I know it can be “rungun” and completed in a few hours. It took me over ten to finish my first run the other day, probably closer to fifteen. Now THAT is a game where you can explore, have optional side quests and puzzles, and enjoy the atmosphere. Order 1886 is not that game.

DC is an average at best racer that got overrated because it looks really good in small gifs. It’s dead for a reason 👍

It was because if it came out when it was supposed too it would've been forgotten as the tech demo it is. 3 hours of cutscenes in an 8 hour game means you get 4-5 hours of ACTUAL game. That would've been fine if it came out and you needed something to play but there was nothing about this game besides the graphics worth remembering

Maybe so.
But I played it 2 days ago and loved it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
