Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

this is out??? how is it? dare i ask?

No, I just decided to go digital instead of retail (which what I buy usually) because the box art is ugly.

It'll be out in October 25 or something.

Your cynicism and bluntness is always a great counterpoint to the starryeyed hopes of 99% of the posters here, know most of your points are agreed with by me.

Please make that OT, hah and please add some of that Toto flare to it as I would very much selfishly enjoy it haha.

lol

The Killzone artbook app is pretty neat, it has some nice art and comments from the devs. Two downsides is the size(764mb) and you can't really take screenshot and use it for wallpapers as there's buttons and text in the lower left corner.

I agree, and didn't Sony say initially that every Vita game would have a demo? For the first 6 months or so that seemed to be the case.

Not sure if they said that, they said all retail games will be digital. but games need demo, especially the full price ones.

people will not throw $40 on games just because of 4 screenshots(this is not Google Play with $1 games), stuff like VK3 for an example when there is a complete lack of impressions on it who in hell will buy that full price without trying it first?

proteus? man, i have been really out of the loop with vita releases. no idea what that game is.

TyecXv7.jpg

From the press e-mail.

Proteus is an exploration and discovery game where you explore a randomly generated dreamlike, island world. Like the isle of Sheppey, but more colourful. It's not got any guns or set goals or objectives.

It does however, have a great deal of sound and music, with different elements of the island creating unique melodies each time you play, and a ton of variation in what you can find and discover on each island.

Our version, developed by Curve Studios and published by Curve Digital, has some new features, including the ability to generate islands from your location using GPS (Vita Only), or from the date. We've also used the rear touch pad to allow players to adjust the im-game environment for the first time.

The game does have an 'end', and islands have more to them than they may first appear, so we'd recommend giving it a few playthroughs to see more of what it has to offer. GPS/Date generated islands tend to more 'wild' and 'weird' than default islands, so keep that in mind!

I've not played it before, but I'll be getting a review code so I'll let ya know.

Proteus is out on the 29th of October in North America and the 30th of October in Europe with some interesting sounding Vita only additions.

Nice! I've been waiting for this game since last summer. As someone who spends a lot of time just exploring open world games, this game is perfect for me.

oddworld seems pretty cool
framerate drops in some areas though and it feels like there's a bit of input lag (why do so many ports seem to suffer from input lag? it was especially bad in the jak&daxter ports)

I'm moderately sensitive to framedrops and I don't remember Oddworld flat out chugging in a lot of places... maybe towards the end though? I don't recall NT levels of input lag either...

I thought it was a solid port. :\

I don't think I fit in this "Starryeyed" category.
I just don't think everything is as gloom and doom as Toto sees it at times. :)

I'm liking Hotline Miami a lot more than I expected to.

Also, I'm still trying to figure out $13.04 worth of crap to buy from the store for the credit. I feel like I already own everything I actually want, though.

I don't get it. So you just walk around? Is this one of those new types of exploratory non-games that don't really have a point?

The description doesn't really tell me anything...

It's an exploratory game of randomly generated content where you can interact with various things in the environment in order to get things to happen.

I honestly don't know what exactly you do. I have a PC code running around here somewhere but I've never installed it.

I think it's more Gamey than Dear Esther or Gone Home, less Gamey than CoD.

what is everyone buying to hit $50?

i'm thinking:
corpse party
corpse party: book of shadows
lone survivor
alundra
tomba!

and something else... maybe lunar. never played that one...
Corpse Party
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows
2-Year Warranty
If not the warranty, Dissidia maybe. I'm sure this option will be endorsed by suppadoopa!

lol, i'm on ignore list of half the Vitakittens here so a Vita related thread by me will be a wasteland.
What?! Well, at least I find you good to have around.

Got a couple of PS1 questions:

1.) Where is Resident Evil 2 on the EU store? I was sure all 3 of the original games were there but I've just gone to pick it up on sale and it's not there? Grabbed Resi 3 instead but is definitely like Resi 2 if it's there.

2.) Which fighting game holds up better, Street Fighter Alpha 2 or Tekken 2? I used to love Tekken 2 and that new PS4 commercial has sent me on a nostalgia trip, but I'm wondering if Street Fighter is something I'd actually play more .

3.) How is Vagrant Story?

RE2 was removed for some reason.

Depends -- Tekken 2 is probably still solid... and the 4 button layout is likely to be more comfortable on the Vita.

If you're interested in SF, look into SF3AlphaMax for PSP... it's been on sale before in NA and is the best of that series according to the masses.

SF will have aged better in terms of graphics... the gameplay in both are solid, but I'm not sure why you'd not grab Tekken 6 for PSP instead of Tekken 2.

Vagrant Story, if you liked it before, apparently holds up well (mostly). And it's something ridiculously small, like 90mb, I think.

Persona 2PE, Mutant Blob Attack, Klonoa (or Soul Reaver if you have a PS3 to transfer it)

do you have the amazing Gurumin? (that $15 tho)

What?! Well, at least I find you good to have around.

Thank you <3

pretty damn good.

You can try (if you don't already own them):

- Nikoli Slitherlink (addictive!)
- Pinball Heroes (great up-ressed Vita version and in my opinion the best pinball game in years, due to keeping it simple and 'less is more')
- Best of Solitaire (it's a mini but a great collection of solo card games)

Did you see I'm considering your "amazing Gurumin" for my promo credit as well? :P

Do it.

Is the Killzone Merecenary Artbook worth downloading? 750+MB is a lot of precious memory card space!

Dunno, as i don't like the art in Killzone.

now a Gravity Rush artbook... that will be fantastic.

is an art book ever worth downloading?

if your answer was yes...

was there girly parts?

maybe there is exclusive dead Rico rotten body drawing in it, almost all Killzone fan will want to see that.

Finally got around to posting My Vita Wallpaper. Left the renders as well if anyone wants to use them. It's Neptunia themed. There's some really good stuff in the Wallpaper thread.

thanks for the wallpapers, I'll use this on on my Vita since I like it the most

Lol, it was in the 15 minutes break between the 2 halves. The ad showed the Vita and it says Champions league is sponsored by Playstation (maybe Playstation Vita) I could not believe what i was seeing lol.

Playstation is a Champions League sponsor...PES has the CL license...I'm not a marketing guru, but that sounds like a wave (ok, ripple) a Vita PES could ride. But hey Konami, you go right ahead with what you're doing...

No, Kevin Spacey just sees a Vita, asks about it and says he should buy one for his car. He plays PS3 in the series.

He actually plays on vita in his car in one episode, I think it was just before
He gets his name on the library, when he meet with friends from college
.

Surely don't want to meet with Francis Underwood online. He is a tough mofo.

You can still buy RE2 on the Sony store website, and set it to que to download from there to your Vita, but there is apparently a bug with changing discs on it. The problem isn't really clear to me, but doing some googling might clear it up for yourself. I've been wondering whether to buy them or not myself.

So it sounds like Terrarria 2 will come to handhelds and home consoles.

Wow 505.
Great Job.
A+++ effort.
Announce Vita port of the first game before iOS/Android. Launch iOS/Android versions before Vita version.
Say Vita version is coming in the summer. Still MIA in late October.

Carnage Heart EXA just appeared on the AU store, any other places? If anyone picks it up post your impressions because I'm curious about it (just not enough to drop $35 on something I have no real idea about).

Hm...can't remeber seeing him playing and watched the season twice. Could be wrong though. I like him, would be a great asset in a KZ: M match :)

Oh geesh. What on EARTH is going on with that game?!

This is actually starting to bother me. I'm holding out on buying it for any other system because I really want to play it on Vita.

Pffft, I gave up on waiting for it. With the 1.2 patch on PC I just realized how much I don't care about this game anymore. But that could have been a $15 mistake they would have profited from!

I'm pretty impressed with The Walking Dead on Vita. Yes, it lacks character shadows and has a couple seconds of loading during scene transitions. But it both looks and plays fantastic. I honestly don't remember the game looking this good during my first play-through on PS3.

If you have PS+, $10 spare bucks and have yet to play the game; buy it!
