Question about breeding and trading. I traded a pokemon for a squirtle which was a level 1 and only had 1 move which was tackle. The next trade I did was for a bulbasaur however this time the pokemon was level 1 but had the moves tackle, take down, razor leaf and sweet scent. How can a level 1 pokemon have all those moves?
Dads can pass down moves. The squirtle was probably a female that bred with a Ditto.

Correction: both parents can pass down egg moves now :)

But those look like level up moves - this means both parents must have known the moves. If you breed two Pokémon that both have a move the child could learn by leveling up, it starts with that move instead.

WHOA WHAT? Game changer.

but wait how come my charmeleon with flare blitz can pass it down to the offspring even though Ditto doesn't know it? Is it just an egg move? Im pretty sure its level up?

Pokemon must have some of the best post game available. This is so much fun breeding, finding good IVs, and eventually making a well oiled machine to take part in online battling. So cool.

Charmander doesn't actually learn Flare Blitz by leveling up; only Charizard does. For Charmander, it's an egg move.

Also, some moves can be both egg moves and level up moves ;)

From what I read, is it only Egg Moves that can be passed by females (only ones that really matter)?

Booya.

What level was it when it beat the Champion?

They were all I had in my battle box. :(

I actually don't have a good ghost counter now.

Well I shut down your Aegislash to be able to use Gengar.

Also I lost all my rating battles to Japanese players, their style is completely different from western players. Got owned by a Heracross that used Choice Scarf.

When the Hall of Fame cutscene starts with your Pokemon just soft reset. It should be right after it saves. L + R + Select

No, you can soft reset when it saves the game just before it shows all your pokemon.

No, you can soft reset once the game saves.

Nope, can soft reset and load game. It's saves the game after the Hall of Fame updates so once you're in the credits you can soft reset and load up back in your home.

Soft resetting works even if L=A?

Edit: Stupid question. I just tried it myself. And yes it does!

Opinions on moveset/nature/EVs for a Clawitzer?

I'm thinking 252 HP/252 Sp.Att/4 Def, water pulse, aura sphere, u-turn and ice beam. Probably with some leftovers. Quiet or Modest Nature. (Not even going to try to make anything of that speed stat)

You mean 252, not 242. :p

Modest for sure. You may as well have some sort of speed, unless you're planning on using trick room.

Put Dragon Pulse instead of Ice Beam for the Mega Launcher ability.

Hmm, I might be wrong, but couldn't you save after a battle?

Do they kick you out or something?

After you pick your team the game asks you if you want to save, if you refuse you can't proceed. In the middle of a fight if it isn't looking good and you soft reset, when you go back and talk to the admission lady she'll say (paraphrasing) "It doesn't look like you saved after your battle." Your win streak ends at what it was the last time you went in to battle.

go battle by battle then?
uh why not hard reset

That I do, that I do. I'm not sure about Dragon Pulse over Ice Beam though. Mega Launcher is good, but 4x ice beam against a lot of those brutal dragon types is awesome.

Damn, I am getting burned out from breeding for a shiny tyrunt. I barely get time to play after work and it is mostly just breeding that tyrunt. After 19 boxes I am slowly starting to reconsider the shiny tyrunt and get to work on an almost perfect one instead. Hopefully, luck is on my side and I get it quickly then.

Mega launcher brings dragon pulse pretty close to 4X. I think.

But ice beam has better coverage I guess.

What level was it when it beat the Champion?
92
Having a fire, dragon and ground attack helped immensely. Only slight issue would have been the water dude, but since Charizard X is not Fire anymore, it wasn't a big deal either.

Dragon pulse will be 2x against dragons anyway, so that plus whatever mega launcher adds on.

A mega launched Dragon pulse would be equal to a 3x ice beam. *not really but about that much* Which is good vs pure dragons or pesky dragons that are pure or not a dragon/something else weak to dragon variety.

But most dragons tend to have a double ice weakness and ice covers other stuff where dragon is just good vs dragon

Ice = Rock, Ground, Dragon, Grass, Flying

Dragon = Dragon

Yeah, I definitely think Ice Beam would be better than Dragon Pulse. The things you're hitting for neutral with dragon Pulse could be hit just as hard by other coverage moves. Ice is just too good of an attacking type to pass up.

Flying dragon?
and ground/dragon

Well I didn't think that's what Ichor was referring to lol. I guess that is makes sense. That covers Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp, Altaria, Flygon, Rayquaza, Noivern, and Z legendary.

Yea, Ice Beam is definitely the better move. Sorry for saying otherwise lol.

Ice = Rock, Ground, Dragon, Grass, Flying

Dragon = Dragon

Ice isn't SE against Rock. Rock is SE against Ice. But since most Rock types are Ground types, that common misconception exists.
