This is what gives me hope for Yoshi's New Island and Kirby Triple Deluxe.

Although, I would say your point does not apply to their sports games like Mario Kart, Golf, Party, Tenis, etc. Or, at least, not as much.

But I don't know how that would work without people not getting the joke and/or being hyped about the game.

(For those that don't get it, it's referring to a Sony Banner ad made after E3. Had like a 50-page thread on here before it closed.)

I could quote a dozen user's post about Mario 3D World from a month ago saying it would be terrible. My point is that we've still not seen enough, Arzest is not exactly the same company as Artoon, etc. Anyway, hope does not mean it will happen.

The difference is that 3D World was always made by EAD Tokyo and always at least looked baseline good, the cries of "It looks awful" were hyperbolic and irrational.

Yoshi has looked bad since reveal and Arzest is, at least in terms of talent, made up mostly of ex-Artoon people who made Yoshi's Island DS!

The game play looked decent coming off of DS, although the art looks bad and unless I'm wrong, we don't know how much of the staff has changed in the switch (and I don't think they've released a console game, either). Again, it may well be terrible when it's released in ~6+ months.

You're right, but with most spinoffs they usually just drop them on us anyway. Kart is the exception, since it's such a phenomenon. I don't think any of the spinoffs are particularly "high-effort" though (including Kart), except arguably in terms of connectivity.

As for Yoshi... well... I was not among the haters at first, but when Arzest was confirmed that sank my optimism really.
 
This game looks like it's made out of sweet delicious sparkling candy. And it retains that "tactile" look of galaxy. Game of the year right here.
 
Well crap...I've been looking at ps4 coverage most of this summer. Really wanted to preorder but didn't have the money at the time. All the great games and this trailer just pushed me over the edge. Decided to look on craigslist. 300 bucks for Wii u deluxe, 5 wiiu games(Mario Wii u, zombie u, Lego undercover etc..), 2 extra controllers and everything with the box. Pick it up tomorrow!!! My inner kid made the decision for me.
 
Now this is a system seller. Looks like my Wii U is getting some play this holiday.

I'm actually a huge Sonic fan and I'm enjoying Lost World, but I just find it funny that quite a few people said that.

Craigslist can be a gold mine at times. Found a basically new DS Lite still with the box and everything for $15 recently.

I don't think anyone argued that SM3DW would be a bad game, just that it wasn't the breath of fresh air that SMG was. As I always thought, it looks like it'll be EAD Tokyo's NSMBW.
