Egg moves will transfer from the mother and father in XY.
 
Why are some of the message boxes that pop up on the passerby screen red, while most are blue?

edit: ahh, nvm, bet it is x/y.
 
Now, when you think about it, if I say that I want to battle again, wouldn't you presume that I want to battle with the team I got again, instead of kicking me back to the box/party select screen, then asking me if I want to battle again??

It's that way in case you want to switch your party up because you lost. Maybe your lead didn't work out, so you select battle again, and now you can switch a new lead in... or something along those lines.
 
None of the starters are available in the wild are they? Crap. I might have to start over. Shoulda never picked the Frog.

Gen 1 and 6 starters are in the friend safari... if you dont wanna start over you can just ask someone for one they are probably breeding and just gonna toss due to lack of perfect IV or whatever.
 
How important are IV's when it comes to battling online? Like I get they would have some impact but are they the be all end all kind of thing?

I've haven't really been into the series since Silver/Gold and I just feel way out of my league with people talking about getting perfect IV's and certain natures etc lol

Makes me..not want to vs online because I know I'll get smashed.
 
I'm thinking about breeding an Onix to get a sweet Steelix and I see that Smogon's golden moveset is:

Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Gyro Ball
Roar / Dragon Tail

But I see that he can learn Heavy Slam, a steel weight-based move, by breeding it with Golem. Should I go for a steel attack now that the fairies are running wild?

Edit: Also, sturdy or sheer force?

It's only 3 per team, so you could already have that in one box.

My point is that give me a quick battle option. :(

Yup. For example, I found out the hard way that my Gengar works better as an ace-in-the-hole rather than a lead, so I made sure to rectify that for the next battles.

Our battles from last night is exactly where I pulled that scenario from lol.
 
Having terrible luck with the fishing. Tried for a shiny Carvanha, but kept getting "not even a nibble" despite using my Malimar. Oh well

Tried Pokeradar again, after reading the guide. Nope, done with that. My chain seems to break even though I'm doing it correctly. Definitely more difficult than it was in DPPt
 
If Greninja could learn Brick Break antoniobanderas.gif

Not sure what to put as his last move. I've got Dark Pulse, Ice Beam and Scald in the other slots

Ohh damn, I'm downloading the new Phoenix Wright now. We'll have to do this sometime soon though. I do need to get a proper team together, only have one perfect IV and levelled up pokemon in my team :/ the others I haven't even had a chance to level up past 30 yet haha.

They would matter more in tournaments. I have played several players with Legendaries and they have lost against my Pokemons from the first Elite Four.
I would recommend looking into them since the game tells you about the values which they didn't in the past.

I think this generation I will actually try to make teams for Double and Triple Battles. There are a few fun new movesets that attack everyone that will be interesting to use along with the Telepathy ability. I actually am doing a lot better in the Battle Maison with Double Teams than single ones.
 
I love how people keep using fire and ice type moves on my Mega Venusaur even though it has Thick Fat. One guy even switched a Greninja into it to ice beam it when it had a +1 growth, as you can tell his Greninja didn't last long.

Most people don't bother. Once in a while you'll run into someone with perfect stats on all their Pokémon, but there's at least as many who've just played the game with their favourites and not worried about stats.

If you want to get serious about winning, on the other hand...

Breed something decently rare (e.g. a starter if possible), and trade it off on the GTS.

For example, if your starter is male, you could try acquiring a Ditto via the GTS, then breed them. Hatch the eggs and offer them in exchange for the starters you don't have; it shouldn't take long for someone to accept the trade.

If you have a female starter, you can skip getting someone to trade you a Ditto.

I had no idea that Mega Venusaur had Thick Fat. That is pretty damn good
 
Apart from legendaries and some Pokemon you can't get, it's pretty easy to fill up your Pokedex. I've been swapping a lot of Pokemon via GTS for the past two days.
 
So I bred a perfect Tyrunt a few days ago, ans I want to start on my next Pokémon. Thinking about either Togekiss or Mega Mawhile. What's everyone using on Mega Mawhile? Never used it before, but that Attack stat intriques me greatly

You can still battle me anytime you see me on. It was fun.

I was honestly thinking that aegislash might sweep me.
 
Wonder trade is weird.

I put up uhhh flabebe or whatever it's called and got back a Froakie.... Haha. Too bad I started with a Froakie anyway!
