Ok yesterday i played almost 4 hours with valhalla knights 3 so here my initial impressions:
The bad:
-the dialogues obviously, faces are not animated and there are generic body animations instead dialogues specific ones.
-i loved the akatoki class in vk2 because it used punches and kicks, in vk3 it uses only punches, but i guess it's more logical since its weapons are the knuckles, anyway this is just personal taste.
-the start position in the field heals you really slowly and i still haven't understand its precise position.
The weird:
-in theory when you attack a enemy leader the fight begin and the other enemies appear, instead sometimes he doesn't react or takes more hits before starting the fight, one time i failed a running attack and the enemy leader chased me and started the fight though, maybe the reaction depends on the enemy.
The good:
-story and characters are better than expected
-faces apart graphics are not that bad, i wouldn't complain for an elder scroll with these graphics(but dialogues should be well made! XD )
-all the good points of vk2 remained(lots of customization, loots etc, i have already obtained knuckles with sleep effect XD )
-...with some improvements like taking more than one mission at time(finally!), the possibility to recruit experienced party members(in addition to custom level 1 characters), shortcuts and other little things.
-it's very addicting, it has the "just one more mission" syndrome lol.
Obviously all imo.
I was a little disappointed by the lack of the stealth elements during travels, but now traveling is way faster(and probably no more annoying).
In battle the cross is for normal attacks, triangle for specific actions(defense if you have a shield, heavy trowing punch for the akatoki etc), circle for running, R for locking, dpad and L+ dpad let you use 8 slots for items/skills/magic/commands/taunts.
The more you hit the more the experience, 10hit combos(don't expect "combos" like in fighting games lol) give you a 1.2x experience multiplier, 20hit 1.5x(iirc), 50hit 2x.
Attacking the leader on the back before the fight also gives you a bonus on the experience multiplier for the fight.
The battle system it's pretty basic but fights are fun and already in the first area there's an encounter that almost killed my party(i defeated the leader with the last alive character of the party)
I haven't used naughty stuff so i don't know, you can become friend with certain people filling a heart meter talking with them and giving presents.
For what i played all its big faults are purely aesthetic, the hate is absolutely not justified and 29.99 is a good price imo.
