Pokémon XY |OT2| Would you like to leave a tip?

Yeah. I think I'll just go with Mega Aggron instead for my bulky wall... which sucks, since Bergmite is one of my favorites this gen.

I really wish Game Freak would've given Ice a defensive buff this gen. Four weaknesses with only one resistance? Hail is also worthless, and freezing is incredibly rare. It's one of my favorite Pokémon types, but sheesh.
Seems they're aware of this and like it that way. The Ice gym leader says Ice is extremely tough (which is true -- offensively, it's one of the best) but extremely fragile (also true -- one of the more vulnerable types, as you said).

So... maybe 2/3 of the way through the story (I like to take it slow) and I'm running Talonflame, Alakazam, Blastoise, Pangoro, Chesnaught.

What's the biggest flaw I need to fill in? Obviously I'm not focused on anything competitive yet. This is just for fun. I wanna fill in the last slot and train 1 or 2 substitutes, since I probably don't need 3 tanks on my team all the time.

I suppose a dragon and a fairy are the obvious choices here, aren't they?

You may want a way to deal with pesky dragons. Toise is pretty slow even if he does have Ice Beam.

Man, the music in this game is surprisingly good (this is almost my first Pokemon game, played a bit of Black before), makes me play with headphones almost all the time!

The music in the city with the big tower (it´s called "Yantara" in the german version) sounds like something from a Ghibli film, very haunting and beautiful, and one town had that cheesy 70s cop series guitar in it.

It really makes it feel like a big proper RPG, something I somehow didn´t expect - the game feels much less "kids only" than I expected.

And the graphics are actually pretty good, too! Doesn´t look to hot in screenshots, but the camera movement really is stunning sometimes, it gives the landscapes a very good feeling of depth.

I also love how fast an no-bullshit everything is. Talking sections are quite brief, no dumb tutorials, inlineskates right from the start, the bike soon after - very impressed by that!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH. Bought Pokemon Y off the Japanese eShop, and it's downloading so slow. I'm in the States :(

How big is the world compared to other games?

I'm still looking for a Metal Coat from someone so I can evolve my perfect IV Scyther into Scizor. Does anyone have one they can spare?

I can compensate with a Scizor if you're concerned about your Pokedex completion.

I can do this. Would appreciate the Scizor for Pokedex reasons. Just have it held by any random pokemon? 0516-7659-0501.

Which is why you go weavile for that massive attack and speed.

You're going to die anyway. Might as well take out a few with you.

What about a King's Rock?

According to my handy dandy team balancer http://wonderfulfailure.com/typecalc/default.html

Your team is weak to Flying & Dragon types. Maybe you need an ice type?

Protean throws people off hard online. Fighting ability? Oh no, now I'm Psychic type. Ghost ability? Nope, I'm Dark now!

A resistance to dragon type moves would be a huge boon for Ice types, or least a resistance to fairy type moves.

The offensive part is something any pokemon can make use of, not just ice types, though. Only advantage ice types get is stab, but most can't make use of it.

Finally found a 'decent' Xerneas, not the exact nature I wanted though. IVs seem OK (but I don't know much about this stuff!)

Got Naive (+Speed -SpDef) :/

HP: 24 - 25
Att: 18 - 19
Def: 18 - 19
SpA: 30 - 31
SpD: 30 - 31
Speed: 30 - 31

Stats: 198 HP, 145 Att, 109 Def, 151 SpAtk, 106 SpDef, 130 Speed

I have spent probably 10 hours trying to find almost perfect IV dittos without luck. It is getting tiring so is anyone up for any type of battle? Good to do something different for a change.

Are you still trying to capture it? I can lend you an Abra I got from ShmeebAlina that's modest and has the synchronize ability, which boosts Xerneas's chances of being modest.

Ah so that's how you can boost the chance?

Sure that'd be great, I'm about to head to bed though, I'll send it back to you sometime tomorrow when I'm done?

No problem, keep it as long as you need it. MY FC is in my profile.

It will happen. Otherwise you can find one on victory road
Yeah so.. it's not happening. I went through another like 10, and still Ariadoses. I'm going from the uppermost entrance and down one floor, according to Serebii that's a good spot. What the hell.

I don't think noibat is a special ambush encounter. I believe that I caught mine with a random encounter.
That's what Serebii's saying, but I tried normal encounters too. It's even more of a pain because I can't seem to escape from Durants at all on the first turn.

Some of the Japanese Pokemon are hacked apparently.

Survied a +4 EQ from Gyarados and outsped while twaved. It was Azumarill and didn't even Aqua jet.

When you breed a pokemon with higher IV is there any item to determine the chances of it inheriting such?
I have a few battle points to throw away (over 200 BP) for some special hold items.

What is more practical catch ditto wild in safari that happens to have perfect IVs or breed those with good IV into perfect ones?

The Power items (16 BP each) guarantee the stat of the parent that they boost will be inherited.

Is there a good guide for the Legendary Birds in this game anywhere? I hear you need to encounter them eleven times or something before they'll appear at that cave? Do they only spawn one at a time? I've only seen Moltres so far, none of the others.

Can Togekiss learn Roost in this game? Just got a Modest Togepi with 31/31/x/31/31/31 through Wonder Trade which can be improved, but if it doesn't learn Roost I'll just transfer over my Togekiss who has it from Platinum come December.

Destiny Knot + Everstone is the best way to breed now. The Power items are still useful for easy EV training with Hordes, but for IV breeding Destiny Knot eclipses them.

It's only one bird per playthrough, dependent on your starter. I'm not sure of the actual number but it is something like that, after a certain number of fleeing encounters you'll find it at the Sea Spirit's Den.

Do both parents need Destiny Knot or just one of them? Trying to breed two dittos now which I havent done before.

There is. Power items guarantee that a certain IV is passed, i.e. it can be helpful at IV breeding (e.g. if you have one extremely good Pokemon and want to ensure that the other brings in a certain stat),but in general Everstone+Destiny Knot is the way to go.
But in doing so you have to give up either the guaranteed nature or the 4 other stats. Not worth it, I've been doing heaps of IV breeding and have had no reason to even think about using those items yet.

One, but I hate to burst your bubble... Ditto can't breed together.

Oh well then I need to use a terrible IV pokemon. Thanks for the information though. At least I know I wasted a lot of time not passing good IVs when I had the option to do so. Hopefully it takes less time now.

Yveltal - #717 (Bashfu Hardy) : 22 - 23 / 28 - 29 / 28 - 29 / 30 - 31 / 30 - 31 / 30 - 31

I'm guessing neutral nature...will confirm soon (the stats make sense and I'm happy with neutral as I can change my mind about roles
who am I kidding, your destiny is the PC
). Edit: done.

Like, totally? Here's no benefit from them at all?
Idea of breeding is get your egg moves/abilities/natures. Then find a friend zone Ditto and hold the Knot to breed IVs; 5 at random from both parents, a few tries will pass the 2 perfect IVs the Ditto has, your using everstone on other for nature. Once you have a baby with correct abilties/natures/perfect IVs switch it in as the parent and choose your next Ditto.

I haven't had the need for using any Ditto yet either. Just using Male and Female versions of Pokemon I catch in the Friend Safari and getting enough to cover all the IVs. They breed quicker since they're the same species as well. I guess if I wanted to breed a Pokemon that wasn't available in the Friend Safari... but even then, I could just use one with the same egg group.

Got a few good things on Wonder Trade tonight.

Friend Safari Frogadier and Ditto. Too bad the Frogadier has Torrent though. Their 31 IVs are different too

Can be useful to breed I think.

Urgh, I really want them to streamline the egg hatching next game as much as they streamlined the EV training stuff.

Why do dragons take so long to hatch anyway?

They are...supposed to? There's probably a very good reason anyway - don't want to have potentially powerful Pokémon hatching too fast, huh?

I think if it were a 1 vs 1 between Busaiku's Goodra vs Nub's Goodra, Busaiku's will win, but I think Nub's will be better at handling other Pokemon than compared to Busaiku's since it is more mixed.

Should put the last 4 EVs towards Speed because no one with the right mind would bother to fully EV train a Goodra's Speed.
put 4 into speed instead of def? That could work since hed already be pretty bulky with that defense boost and assault vest.

And I think youre right. Mine would have more defense, but wed have equal special defense and his would have the special attack boost.

Since ev training is so easy this time around, and goodra is my favorite pokemon, im going to be making multiple builds and testing them all.

Well they're going to be hatched anyway, so I don't really see the point of a limit. It's not going to stop people breeding them. All it's really doing is stopping people from trying out the more hardcore stuff like IV breeding.

In fact just add some minigames like super training. I understand that there must be a sense of accomplishment for hatching but riding back and forth for a few minutes eventually becomes tedium instead of any sense of accomplishment.
