But isnt one of the main complaints about bro what ever is that they`re always out parting and womanizing?
Alcohol makes you like the unlikable
For being such UNLIKABLE assholes they seem to have a lot of friends,
Debatable.
and a very busy social life.
Narrow view of "social life".
They are perceived as assholes by the betas and super betas.
Well this isn't asshole talk at all.

Brogrammers are just beta in real life around everyone else. But when they get surrounded by other beta "brogrammers" because finally in Uni they were told "they have some value" and are not the total losers that everyone before said they were. So now they try to over compensate by becoming bros forever yearning to be like those who used to kick their ass and get all the girls.

Neither here nor there brogrammers are kind of like the hyena who crawls into the skin of a dead lion. They can cover their loserness all they want but inside they will still be losers.

Harsh, but deep. So deep.

damn son. nothing held back.

Whats the preferred coding language of a Brogrammer? I need to know what I have to set my sights on to reach broder (bro+coder) level.

java

My best friend's brother is one of these.

He parties non-stop, went to USC, says "bro" all the time, is constantly drunk and got a six-figure salary straight out of undergrad programming shitty iPhone games.

I always hear about these people getting six figure salaries after undergrad and I'm always calling bullshit.

A lot of them are although I think they always exaggerate it but trust me these companies are throwing tons of money at kids. But they also work them hard

God dam i thought i was a brogrammer.
But it seems im a dude-veloper whatever that means.

Hmm not bad:

Your Broficiency Quotient (BQ) is

Regular Joegrammer

From the two articles it seems like the biggest problem is how alienating and unprofessional it can be to women.

I suppose this just another part of a rather long-running issue with the field, though. At least it seems like it gets called out pretty quickly.

One of the dumbest things I've ever read.

Fucking people trying to hold on to their isolationist "culture" are just stupid.

Trust me, it's nearly guaranteed if you hit the silicon valley / tech companies if you last the first year. Plus whatever starting bonus you get

Which is why I'm curious as to what someone like me who would move out there would make. I'd want a linear move and then pay raise but I have no idea if it works out that way.

This shit is the worst. I guess I am a "Brogrammer" then. I was in a fraternity in undergrad, I wear polo shirts sometimes as well as boat shoes, and I work in the technology industry and occasionally have to code. I will say, though, that I don't call anyone "bro" and no one I know pops their collars.

But hey? Fuck me, right? I guess I'm not allowed to do the job I want because I dress the way I do and enjoy the occasional beer on the weekend. Oh, and I'm also to blame for ruining all of video games apparently too.

Silicon Valley shit. This is why Seattle tech is taking over(although most Am-Holes are brogrammers)

also making over 100K in silicon valley is like 40k anywhere else.

I tend to agree with this, I personally dislike having to work with brogrammers (as a designer). They tend to be overly arrogant and dismissive, without having any deep knowledge or skills to back it up. Also tend to be lazy about coding standards and cause more bugs and sloppy implementation than they are worth.

I'll take the boring older married types any day. They know how to get things done without a bunch of ego.

Can't say I've ever run into any of these professionally, so I wouldn't say they hold me back in any way. I might know some guys casually who might qualify? But nobody particularly douchy.

Then again I'm in my 30's.
